    Periwinkle sat with her tail curled around her paws. Another training session was needed. "Div?" She meowed. "Come here sweety."

    "Hey, mum." Divinitapaw grinned, padding over. "What's up?" the pretty tabby inquired, sitting across from her mother.

    "Its time for your first assessment so I can see just how well you are getting along in your training." Periwinkle meowed, her blue eyes filled with warmth. "Tell me what you should do for a broken leg."

    "Anything else you need to do?" She meowed, hoping to prompt a little more out of Divinitapaw's answer.

    "Bind the rush thickly with cobwebs and make a comfortable nest for the patient to rest on." the medicine cat apprentice answered confidently.

    "I would also make a poultice of Nettle leaves to apply to the leg before binding." She meowed. "It helps the healing process. Now how about sprained paw."

"They would need plenty of rest and would have to keep off of that sprain for a few days. To ease the pain and inflammation, I would give the patient a comfrey root poultice and a poppy seed or two if they were having troible sleeping." The lilac tabby mewed, spring green eyes glowing.

    "Good. Now lets say a cat has come in here with a head injury. Their forhead is cut and blood seems to be all over the place. What should you do?" Periwinkle meowed, flicking her tail.

Then I would apply a marigold poultice to the wound to prevent infection, and bind it around the ear with cobwebs." The lilac tabby gave a single nod as if to agree with what she had said.

I would advise them to sleep in a position where pressure would not be applied to the wound. Everyday that it would heal I would steralize the area and add a fresh poultice and cobwebs." Divinitapaw elaborated. "If the wound became infected, a second poultice would be applied, composed of chervil or horsetail."

    "Actually I would advise from poppy seeds for at least 24 hours. You will also want to wake the patient up every few hours to make sure they that a comma does no happen to him or her." Periwinkle meowed.

    "There is a lot more. Tell me what herbs are use for infection, reduce fever and chills, and also good for sore throats."

"For infection, I would use marigold, chervil, horsetail, dried oak leaf, or wild garlic. Then to reduce fever and chills, I would treat the patient with lavender, feverfew, or even borage." The lilac tabby took a quick breath. And finally, honey or tansy would be ideal for soothing a sore throat, and heather nectar would be used if they were having trouble swallowing."

    She nodded flicking her tail. "Very good. Now go and gather some wild garlic, we are low. Once you return grab yourself a nice good piece of freshkill, you deserve it."
