Step 1-Picking A Name
If you are planning on creating a cat, pick the name first. It does not need to be permanent, but you need the name to fit your cat's character(if you have one planned out)If a cat were grumpy or rude, you wouldn't name her Gentlebreeze. But, when picking a name, DO NOT choose names such as
-Bonekit/paw/whatever(Cats have never used Bone- as a suffix or prefix in the Clans. If you make a loner or rogue, gladly name him or her Bone, but otherwise, avoid this.)
-Swordkit/paw/whatever(I know you may think it sounds cool, but it's not likely a cat would name her or his kit Swordkit. They don't even know what swords are in the first place.)
-Starkit/paw/whatever(Star is NOT a good suffix for a warrior cat. What if he or she became leader? Starstar doesn't sound very good, does it?)
You can choose things like Fox-whatever, Badger-whatever, Cliff-whatever, etc.
Step 2-Appearance
If you want to make a cat, you can make him or her a brown tabby, a white cat, anything-as long as it is realistic. No pink, red or green cats, or cats with wings. This is not possible in real life, so it's certainly not possible here. Same goes for eye color. No red eyes, purple eyes, or rainbow eyes. Might sound cool, but it just isn't possible in the slightest.
Step 3-Personality
If you make a personality for your character, please don't make your character only have positive traits, or only negative traits. All people have some good in them, and vise versa.
Step 4-Prophecies/Backstory
If you want to create a backstory for your cat, you can make it whatever you want-just don't make your cat survive some impossible event and become flipping God or whatever. It just doesn't work like that. But like before, don't make it all mopey about his or her 'sad' past. It's okay to have sad pasts, just don't make them whine about it. Also, do not make your cat related to real characters from the books, or in love with them-lets face it, it will never happen.
On another note, DO NOT put your cat in a prophecy or give them a godly power! Yes, it might seem cool, but then you make your cat the center of attention. Other characters are important too-just because yours is Prophecy Cat doesn't make him/her the only relevant character.
Example of a BAD Character-
Starpony is a pink cat with pink sparkle wings! She can, like, fly and no other cat can so they're jealous! Her eyes are all rainbow and stuff and she had this thing where she can get all invincible after eating a mouse! Then no cat can hurt her! She is also, like, totally nice and caring and perfect and stuff and all the toms wanna be her mate cause she's so perfect! And she can shoot rainbows out of her eyes like all BOOM and stuff because of the prophecy! She's the long lost daughter of Firestar and Sandstorm so shes super important! She's totally, like, in LURV with Jayfeather who totally loves her back but totally won't admit it!
Example of a GOOD Character-
Lionpaw is a ginger tomcat with pale blue eyes. He is a good hunter and fighter, but hates to swim and climb trees. He is loyal and trustworthy, but his large ego gets him in trouble with older cats. Lionpaw is a member of ShadowClan. Though Lionpaw has heard of Tigerstar from the elder's stories, he is not related to the cat, but he is interested in him. He secretly trains in the Dark Forest and doesn't have a mate or crush. His mother was Pineheart, but she abandoned him when he was younger. Despite this, he does not hold a grudge against her, because he hardly knew her in the first place, and believes it was for the best.
