    The badger roared with fury and began to shake wildly trying to get the cats off. Hollowsoul dizzy bit down harder. It roared in agony and its claws landed across Hollowsouls head. He let go and fell to the ground with a thump.

    Firespirit gasped in horror as she saw what the badger did to Hollowsoul. She let go of ot's neck and grasped it's back with her claws. She let out a ferocious hiss, completely contrary to her personality, and ran, claws piercing it's flesh, towards it's face and clawed for it's eyes.

    The badger shreiked in agony it shook violently trying to get Firespirit off it's back.
    Hollowsoul staggered weakly to his paws after he steadied his balance he charged towards the badger biting it's back leg.

    Firespirit clawed up to the badger's head, then down to it's face. She raked it's eyes and throat with her front and back claws. She growled and hissed ferociously as she attacked.

    It shook her off and staggered away before collapsing dead a few fox-lengths away.
    Hollowsoul breathed heavly."T-that b-badger s-seemed some how d-diffrent,"he stuttered.

    " Y-yes, I think. . . your r-right," she choked out. She took a minute to catch her breath, " But I can't tell how it was different." her back sared with pain as she spoke, but didn't take much notice.

    He took in a gasping breath regaining it."I thought it was weird I smelt it but when I came near it the scent almost dissapeared that's why I was caught off guard,"he mewed.

    " Weird. I'm just glad you're safe." she nuzzled Hollowsoul affectionately and began cleaning his wounds, " Does it hurt bad?" she mewed.

    Firespirit purred, " I'm fine. Just a few splinters, that's all." she returned his affectionate licks and meowed, " I was scared for you, you know?"

    "Scared for me?"he mewed." I thought I had lost you. I would have never been the same if that'd happened."
    He began to purr."I'm just glade your all right,"he purred and twined his tail gently with hers.

    Firespirit giggled shyly, " You're so sweet..." she purred. Her back stiffened and her legs gave. She howled in pain, " Ahhh!" she fell forward against Hollowsoul's side. She looked up into Hollowsoul's eye.

    "Whats wrong?"he asked worryingly."Here lay down." He lay down slowly resting Firespirit next to him.He licked her head soothingly."Where exactly does it hurt?"he asked. Panic and worry pulsed through out him.

    " Ah, a splinter in my back, above my leg, AH! Get it out!!" Firespirit sobbed. She dug her claws into the dirt and cried.

    Hollowsoul set her down gently on the ground.
    He looked where she had said the splinter was.
    It was in there deep he grabbed its end with his teeth.
    "This may hurt,"he warned.
    He pulled up quickly so the pain hopfully wouldn't last long.

    Firespirit whimpered in pain as Hollowsoul pulled the splinter lodged in her back. Soon, the pain went away. She got up to her paws and groomed herself briefly, " Thank you Hollowsoul." she licked his muzzle and leaned into him and purred.

    "So your ok now?"he asked.
    He purred and rubbed his head gently against hers.
    His gaze flickered back towards the dead badger for a few moments then he looked back at Firespirit.

    " I'm fine, just, don't leave. Stay here." she mewed without opening her eyes. She rubbed lovingly against Hollowsoul. She was ready to tell him, but would remember, after such a long time without it? " Hollowsoul?" she purred.

    She looked him in the eyes; her's glazed over, " Hollowsoul," she repeated, " I love you." she purred, Please she said in her head, Please, for the sake of Starclan, say it back. Please she silently begged as she stared at his handsome face.
