  • Angel stared at the page unseeing in her French text book. She barely heard everyone else laughing with their friends, she sat alone. Her tawny hair swept over one shoulder to hide her tanned face. Dark blue eyes misted over as she thought. Her skinny frame trembled once under the long sleeved, loose shirt she was wearing.

  • Sam laughed as he grabbed a note from his friend and read it under the table. He quickly scribbled a reply in cursive handwriting and dropped his pencil purposely on the floor. As he bent down behind the teachers back he tried to throw it back to his friend but it missed and went sailing towards a girl who appeared to be the only person looking at her textbook.

  • She blinked in surprise as a folded bit of paper thudded onto her page. Out of curiosity she unfolded it, running her fingers along the rough creases.

  • Sam's eyes widened as he made his way over to the girl and tried to snatch his note away before she could read the words, I do not have a crush on a girl and I definitely will not go out with Claudia, she has slept around with every guy in the school. I want someone real. He was relatively popular and that letter could ruin his life if it was found by the girl he had mentioned.

  • She scanned the letter with astonishing speed, folded it up and handed it to him, rolling her eyes slightly, before dropping her fading gaze back to the page. She tried to understand what they were meant to be learning, but the pain kept coming back.

  • Sam took the note and whispered a quick, 'Thanks for not reading it out loud,' before he turned to walk back to his desk, forgetting to pass the note. He tripped and fell just as the bell went, as everyone moved out of the class he just lay there not bothering to get to his feet. He was just tired of having to keep up with everyone around him.

  • Angel mechanically shut her book and slipped it into her bag, she then zipped it up. But she didn't get up, she stared at her desk, barely noticing the other people leave.

  • Sam slowly rose to his feet, using the desk beside him as a lever, and began piling up his books so he could shove them into his bag. He turned to leave and was surprised that the girl from earlier was still there. 'Are you... okay?' He asked not wanting to appear rude but still curious.

  • He didn't believe her, he knew what it was like to have to lie, but he heard one thing he had never had. A spark of life. He looked at her for a moment before smiling and offering a hand, 'If we don't run we might miss next period and you know what the teacher is like.'

  • Sam made a split second decision before grabbing her bag and slinging it over his shoulder. He made to walk out of the room and to their next class, as he reached the door he called back 'See you in class then, I'll save you a spot.'

  • Sam had waited outside the class to see if she would follow and he walked beside her, keeping pace wherever she was going. He stayed silent not quite knowing what else to say, before he just blurted out, 'What do you like? What do you dislike? What are your hobbies?' He just wanted her to talk about something, anything.

  • "I like nothing really," she said dully "I dislike people, music, movies, being awake, school, cute couples..." She trailed away, looking bitterly at the ground. "I don't have any hobbies," she added.

  • 'Then we better change that, people aren't so bad, music can be cool but I agree I hate school,' He glanced at her then had an idea, 'Want to skip class? I know a place down the road that is pretty good for killing time.'

  • OOC: She could be a rival or a friend of Sam's or Angel's? Just some ideas

IC: Sam saw her look away and frowned but at least she had said yes, that was a start. He shrugged his bag to get a more comfortable grip then made to grab her hand and pull her down a side hallway to an exit. 'This way no teacher will see we ever left.'

  • Her hand remained lifeless in his grasp and she stumbled after him. She bit down on her lip as she felt the emotional pain rip through her. She checked to make sure her sleeves were pulled down.
