Zero smiled and looked up at the sky. "I'm late." Zero quietly said before looking at Lily. "I'm sorry, but I have to get going. I promised some friends I'd hang out with them. I'll see you tomorrow. We'll meet by the tree on the hill." Zero said before running into the dark side of the forest, filled with dead trees and some Zubat flying around, minding their own buisiness.

When Zero got far away enough into the dark side of the forest, he returned to his original form and walked around a bit. After waiting a few minutes, an Umbreon, a Nuzleaf, and a Purrloin walked over to him. "Zero, where have you been all day? You said you were going for a quick walk and then you didn't come back." the Umbreon said. "You reek of Lillipup. What were you up to?" the Purrloin asked, flashing her claws. "Nothing. It's nothing. So, what's the plan today?" Zero asked as he walked with his friends. "Well, we were just about to go see Crobat. Listen to some of his wisdom of what lies outside these dark woods where the sun never shines." the Nuzleaf said. "Cool. Mind if I tag along?" Zero asked. "Well, alright. But, you're getting all of us some Oran Berry smoothies later." the Umbreon said.

As Zero walked, he caught faint glimpses of Lily, but he knew he couldn't face her as a Zorua, so he continued walking with his friends, blending into the shadows.

Zero resisted the urge to say what he always did when Lily sneezed and followed his friends to a dark cave where a Crobat was hanging and looking at Zero and his friends.

The Crobat told Zero and his friends a story from when he was travelling the world, telling the group of Dark types never to fall in love with someone outside the dark side of the forest, otherwise misfortune would strike the nearby village where Zero and his friends lived. Humans didn't know about it, so all the Dark types lived in the village, accustomed to their dark homes and shunning the sunlight and anything outside the dark part of the forest.
