  • Okay excuse me if my writing doesn't make much sense :/ Havent been feeling amazing over the past few days. . .

    ✓ Dilutes && solids
    ✓ Tabbies

    Okay before we move on; im going to give you a big test. Because torties can be confusing. . && because i am not a geneticist on the sight i assume you can't either. That means we can not do genetics for others :3 just a reminder.

    I've put one in w/white which i havent officially taught you; however i assume you can get it && if you cant that is fine ^^

  • Brown tabby X lilac spotted tabby
    brown tabby, blue tabby, lilac tabby, chocolate tabby, chocolate, lilac, blue, black. All tabbies can be either mackerel or spotted.
    Lilac X fawn
    lilac, fawn
    Black X Chocolate
    black, blue, chocolate, lilac
    Black X fawn mackerel tabby
    black, blue, fawn tabby, cinnamon tabby, fawn, cinnamon, brown tabby, blue tabby. All tabbies will be mackerel.
    Lilac X Blue classic tabby
    lilac, lilac tabby, blue tabby, blue. All tabbies will be classic.
    Brown tabby X fawn w/white.
    brown tabby, blue tabby, brown blue, fawn tabby, fawn, cinnamon tabby, cinnamon. All kits can be with white on then. All tabbies will be mackerel.
    chocolate mackerel tabby x cinnamon spotted tabby
    chocolate tabby, chocolate, lilac tabby, lilac, cinnamon tabby, cinnamon, fawn tabby, fawn. All tabbies can either be spotted or mackerel.

  • okay this i think is as far as i've gotten in the training though im sure i can figure the rest out && self teach.

    not too bad, but most are wrong.
    there are only these kinds of torties. it is impossible to get a cream/red tortie. it doesn't make any sense. ;;
    tortie [mixture of black && red tabby]
    dilute tortie [mixture of blue && cream tabby - not called a blue tortie]
    chocolate tortie [mixture of chocolate && red tabby]
    lilac tortie [mixture of lilac && cream tabby]
    cinnamon tortie [mixture of cinnamon && red tabby]
    fawn tortie [mixture of fawn && cream tabby]

    keep in mind that males are ALWAYS listed FIRST.
    the correct answers are ;;
    black [FATHER] x red tabby [MOTHER]
    males ;; Red tabby, cream tabby.
    females ;; tortie, dilute tortie.
    *when we have a red base x black base, females will only be torties, not solids. since the mother is a red tabby, && since males get their mother's colours, we will get both red && cream tabby.

    cream tabby [FATHER] x blue [MOTHER]
    males ;; blue.
    females ;; dilute tortie.
    *both parents are dilutes, so we will only get dilute kittens. the mother is blue, so the males will get their mother's colours.

    chocolate x cream tabby
    males ;; red tabby, cream tabby.
    females ;; chocolate tortie, Lilac tortie?
    *the mother is a cream tabby, && the father is a chocolate - which is a non-dilute.

    understanding a little more? c:
    tell me if there's anything we need to go over.

    now you try ;;
    black x red tabby
    chocolate x red tabby
    cinnamon x red tabby
    blue x cream tabby
    lilac x cream tabby
    fawn x cream tabby

  • Okay, I'm very confused. I'll list what I'm confused about.

    1. I haven't learnt what a 'red' is but i think its a ginder tabby. Plus I don't know the dilute from it.
    2. Can you tell me what I got wrong in my test?
    3. Could you list the dilute of the types you have listed?
    4. I don't undertand how a black x red tabby creates a cream tabby.
    5. How do you figure out the male from female colours?
    6. For cream tabby x blue, why doesn't it get a cream tabby?
    7. Umm I nearly don't at all understand the chocolate x cream tabby.

    I wont do he test yet. I would like to get the one before right. :)

  • Alright
    Ill answer all of them :)

    1. Red is simply ginger; though red is the profecinal && genetical way of saying it. This is a red
    tabby
    and the dilute of a red tabby is a cream tabby.

    2. you got all answers correct *Double checks* The only one that was wrong was the Brown tabby X fawn w/white one. Simply because you

    [font=georgia]
    3. I assume your asking the dilutes of the torties; which the answer would be there are none. The tortie mixes is simply the parent's pelt mixing together. There is no dilutes just different types :)

    4. Black x Red tabby;
    a black x red tabby cat simply is a solid x solid meaning they can have both non dilutes and dilutes. Cream is the dilute of red so thats how you get cream out of red & black c:
    I asked the same question. . .

    5. Males can not be torties it's genetically impossible. Red is the solid of cream so simply do the normal rules; that is the easiest way to go about it.
    so for example;
    Chocolate x red tabby.
    males; red tabby, cream tabby.
    females; chocolate tortie.

    Depending on the parents being dilutes or non dilutes depends on how many options for kits you have, its just like the other genetics before :)

    6. cream tabby x blue; the reason why it doesn't have cream tabby is because the tom kits take the mothers colours; the she-kits take both father and mother.
    So the mother is blue in this case; if she was a red or a cream then yes the tom kits would be cream or red. But due to her being blue simply means that the kits must be blue and no non dilute kits :)
    Thats the way i was told. :)

    7. Chocolate x cream tabby.
    this if confusing i know (damn torties xD)

    Chocolate [tom/solid] x cream tabby [female/dilute]
    males; cream tabby, red tabby. (they take the mothers pelt colours meaning solid and dilute]
    females; chocolate tortie, lilac tortie (chocolate tortie is the fathers pelt; the lilac is the cream mixing its way in. Also lilac is optional i dont think is super important to put it in there.)

    I hope this helped :)

  • Okay, I think I understand. With the torties thing, can all cats have tortie kits?
    I'll try the test...
    Do I have to do male and female? I'll do it below each one... :\

  • [font=georgia]Okay kits can only be tortie if one of the parents is a cream or a red tabby . . . Or of course one is a tortie.

    Firstly there is no such thing as a red or cream cat only red tabby and cream tabby. So the male kits is wrong but thats okay :3

    && I think you got the females right though i can't be positive yet until i complete my test c:

    They where my answers, i leave out the solids, dilutes and tabbies because I really dont know how that part works. So i suggest not doing those until we really know.
    I learnt from my new teacher that if there was one parent that is a tabby the kits will be torbie and tortie.
    So yeah i hope this makes sense to you as well cause it doesn't make much to me.
