The next morning, Ben came across another problem... He didn't hear the alarm because of his earplugs. He was lucky to have woken up early and when his alarm went off, he wondered why it didn't make a sound... Until he removed the plugs. "I need to find a solution for that..." he mumbled as he pushed the button to stop the buzzing. He sat up, rubbed his hands over his face in a trial to wake up a bit, grabbed the same clothes he had worn the first day and went to the small bathroom. He was even more nervous than the day before.

Karen's alarm went off way too early to her liking and she sighed in frustration. She got up, opened one of the drawers, grabbed some clothes and disappeared in the bathroom. She locked the door and started to wash and started to work with salves and other cosmetics she had brought along.

"One moment!" Karen called as she calmly finished her morning rituals. After another five minutes, she opened the door. "Your turn", she simply said as she went back to her bed. She had time, no worries.

Ben changed clothes and cleaned himself before leaving the bathroom. He went to his bag and grabbed some bread he had taken with him for the first few days. His hands were shivering from nervosity and in the end, half of the bread was on the ground. He sighed and stood up, searching for something to clean it up.

Ben raised his eyebrows and then narrowed his eyes. "What the... Disgusting!" he mumbled and coughed a bit as he stood up. He went out of the room and deeply inhaled the fresh air. "Whoa... Ashley can't have much worse, can she?" he thought as he waited for Jay. They were roommates, so he supposed they'd have the same lessons.

Karen heard some noise in the bathroom but didn't pay attention to it. She patiently waited for Ashley to finish as she didn't want to walk through the hallways by herself. She wanted company to talk to!

Karen got up. "Hi", she said cheerfully as she walked towards the door. "Ready to go? I have the same lessons as you, so we might as well walk together", she said with a giggle. She was a shifter as well, a dog to be correct. "Come on, before we're late", she said as she opened the door.

"Hey Jay... Care to go to the lessons together? I guessed we had the same ones, seeing we're roommates and such..." he said as he scratched the back of his head. He quickly grabbed his cap and placed it on his head. It was as if he felt naked without it on days like these.

Ben shrugged. "It's fine, I have earplugs", he said with a smirk before sighing as he mentioned his power. "I'm a fire bender..." he finally replied. He didn't mention that he had no control over it, it would only freak people out.

Karen followed her and started talking about just about everything from certain popstars to cooking to children.

"Same here. What's your power anyways? Does it have anything to do with your dreams?" he asked Jay as he walked towards the stairs. He knew where the room was, he had checked it the day before. "I wonder how the lesson is going to be..." he mumbled.

Karen didn't even notice she had put on her headphones and continued talking about almost everything, except for school. That, obviously, wasn't important enough.

Ben stopped inf ront of the classroom. "That sounds... terrible..." he mumbled as he knocked on the door. "Come in!" a voice exclaimed and he opened the door. He entered a big room, filled with students. Most of them looked older than him and Jay. There were almost no chairs or tables in the room, everyone sat on the ground. A muscular man with a sleeveless shirt stood in front of the students. "Names?" he asked the two boys. "Ben Fox..." the black haired boy replied as he sat down as well.

Karen finally noticed Ashley wasn't listening. She pulled the headphones off and glared at her. "You could have had the respect of listening to me!" she hissed before stopping in front of an intersection. "Eh... Do you know where our classroom is?" she asked.

Karen glared back without words as she followed her. "Karen Damen" she said while examining the teacher a bit more carefully. She wondered what the woman could do with her powers ad how she'd be able to use those of her own.

The man nodded and looked around the group. "Alright, time to start your first lesson, you rookies!" his voice boomed around the room and Ben had to do his best not to cover his ears to make sure he heard everything. "Most of you are benders, they will take this side of the room. The others will have their lessons at the other side", he said as he pointed to the smaller area behind him.

"Today, we're going to start with controlling your powers. After this lesson, you should be able to use your powers whenever you want!" he glanced around. "Alright, all benders, group together. The others, get to the other side of the room where my assistant is waiting!" he said as he pointed out a much smaller man on the other side of the room.

Karen followed everyone's example and looked at the teacher. What was te connection between a circle and shifters? Somewhere deep down, she hoped she wouldn't have to shift in front of everyone...

Ben didn't move and as the class got divided into two. The muscular man stepped forward and shot a quick glance around the group. "Good... Benders are people who can use elements to their advantage. The coach told me there are some guys or girls in here who were already panting after their test, the first sign of uncontrollable powers. I want you all to form a line in front of the wall", he said as the students did what they were told, including Ben who made sure he wasn't in the middle so he would only have one neighbour.

The assistant glanced around. "Good, what are your powers?" he asked the small group of about ten students.

The assistant nodded and continued down the group. "Sleeping powers, eh? Now, since your real teacher couldn't get here in time for today's lesson, I'll take over. Lay down, close your eyes and try to concentrate. Do not fall asleep!" the small man said as he pointed towards some wooden structures in the form of a bed.

The teacher walked past the line. "Concentrate on a certain spot on the wall. You know your element, try to use that element on that certain spot. Imagine the wall burning, freezing, breaking, etc." he explained and the students obliged. Ben concentrated on a certain brick and put it on fire in his imagination.

Karen grabbed two hands and closed her eyes. She didn't feel anything in the beginning and began to panick, until a weird feeling washed over her, slowly but surely. She nodded as a reply, although she knew everyone had his or her eyes closed.
