[align=center]"Anything that's cool is good to be put on it. Don't let your clothes or fabric or anything like that rub up against it. And keep ointment on it." Nightmare replied, listing off the things a doctor had told him after he woke up, blind on his right side and suddenly an orphan.

She noded "I have to go to the doctor… I will see you tomorrow nightmare… bye" Maddie said getting up and looking at her leg. She picked up her backpack and sighed. She began to limp to the door slowly.
-
He stood, grabbing his notebook. "I should go too. There's someone I need to make sure got home safely. Hope you get better."
-
She smiled "I will…" she limped out of the room. She got onto the city bus and got dropped off at the doctors. Maddie went to the doctors and told him what happend, leaving lots of information out. The doctor helped the burn, and got the ointment. She didn't want to go home but it was getting cold. She stepped inside her house. Her father waited for her, when she stepped in her father slapped her across the face leaving a handprint on her face. She let out a whimper…

[align=center]Nightmare walked to the orphanage, ignoring the kids outside who made fun of him and even threw things at him. He stepped in, listening as he was berrated for not instantly coming back. Yeah. I bet you were worried sick. He thought darkly, climbing the steps to the floor his room was on. "Hey Nathaniel? You up here?" He called.
"Hey Dustin!" Called a higher pitch voice, followed by a little boy with straight black hair that hung to his shoulders and dark eyes that were slightly unfocused peeking from the room at the end of the hall.
"I told you to call me Nightmare. Were you going through my stuff again?" The older boy questioned, walking in and throwing his stuff on the little white bed.
"All I found were pictures, so no worries."
Nightmare smiled at the pale, skinny boy standing in his room.
"Okay. Just don't do it again."
"Fine. Why were you home so late?"
"No reason."
"Tell me!" -
Maddie looked to the floor." Where on earth were you?" Maddies father yelled. She didn't look up, nor did she awnser."Well then!" He said and took out a belt, wiping her many times, and hardly. Maddie let out little whimpers as the belt thrashed her skin, causing her to bled all over. She said "Stop dad please don't hurt me!". He father took out a knife and cut her skin fiercely. He then threw her against the wall, she hit her head hard. She blacked out in the floor bleeding heavily. He snarled and walked away taking a sip from his beer.
-
[align=center]"I was just at school!" He laughed at the pesky boy.
"Aw, do you need special help?" The boy grinned.
"Shut up!" Nightmare laughed, pushing the boy back slightly.
"Hands off! Oh, I know! You were with someone. A girl."
Nightmare was silent.
"I'm right, aren't I?"
The older boy dug under the mattress of his bed, bringing out a bag with a gold and white pipe. Inside was a smalled bag with a strange substance. "Yeah. You ask to many questions."
He shrugged. "Can't help it."
"I'll be in the back alley if anyone needs me. Like thats gonna happen." He sighed, shoving the bag in his pocket and walking out.
"Okay. Be sure to do homework." The boy called after him. -
Maddie woke up two hours later. She looked to the cuts , covering her arms, legs, back and, stomach. She moaned in pain ,and slowly picked herself off the floor. Her cheek hurt like hell, she looked to the burn. Maddie grabbed some ointment from her backpack an put it on the burn. Maddie was in so much pain, she forgot that she even had a burn. Her knees shaked and her arms ached. She slowly began to walk to the couch, that was cut up and in horrible condition, springs were flying out, and it was missing a cushion. Maddie called this couch 'Bed'. She lied down on the couch and tried to get comfortable, which wasn't going to be an option for her bed. Maddie soon fell asleep.

[align=center]Nightmare wound easily through the dirty alleys, finding one that didn't stink and leaning against the wall. He pulled the bag and his lighter out, putting the strange substance in the pipe and lighting it. Now, Nightmare wasn't doing any illegal drugs, and he didn't smoke to get high- He smoked because he smoked. Sometimes, when he couldn't get his hands on this, he smoked cigarettes, which had three packs of in his room, too. If he was ever caught, god knows where he'd be sent. He was only out for about ten minutes, then he made his way back in and worked on homework. Well, he tried. He stared at the math problems for hours, but only completed three out of ten. Goddammit. He thought, checking the clock to see if it would kill him or not. Nope.
It had now been twelve hours since Nightmare took his meds, so he was clear to take it again. And thank god, too.
Almost silent, he opened the three bottles, slipping one pill from each, as the directions said. On many days, the thought of overdosing crossed his mind, but the one time he had it wasn't pretty. Sighing, he popped the three pills in his mouth, checking off a mental list: Depression, ADD, Malnutrition. Done. He stepped to the room opposite to him in the hall, pushing the door open. "Hey, Nathaniel, your clear."
The boy already had a handful of different medications in his hand. Nightmare frowned, feeling bad for the boy. Nathaniel had a lot of mental issues, but the doctors had found the right meds, and the boy was stable and as normal as he could be when he took them. "I know, Dustin."
"And how would you know? It's not like you can see your clock."
He shrugged. "Internal clock. And I could feel the meds wearing off."
Nightmare nodded. "You going to dinner?"
"No. You?"
He shook his head, but it made no difference to Nathaniel. Remembering this, Nightmare told him, "Too much homework. Hey, get some sleep tonight."
"I'll try. But the same goes for you."
"Whatever. See you later."
Nightmare stared at the problems for another three hours, bit for the life of him he couldn't figure them out. Finding it to be annoying, he untied his patch and set it by the medicine.
He worked until eleven that night, but he couldn't get past #4. Finally, laying with his head propped on his hand, he fell into another dream full of flames that licked his skin with a dull pain, and people screaming and begging for him to save them, but he turned his back to the flames and let them burn everything he had ever known...(Time-skip??)
-
(Sure… to when? The next day at school?)
-
(Yeah, sure. I'll start.)
"Dustin Dustin wake up! It's seven forty five! School starts in fifteen minutes. Hurry! We're gonna be late!"
Nightmare was jarred from sleep by the eleven year old yelling and pounding on his door. He jumped slightly, letting out a small gasp as dreams and reality merged, and for half a second, the orphanage was on fire. Then the vision in his one eye flickered and he saw things for what they were- and he saw he was horribly late. Cursing the whole time, he jumped up, darted into the closet and changed clothes. He tied his eyepatch on and glanced at his reflection in the mirror, and suddenly remembered why he hadn't in so long.
Nightmare didn't think he was ugly, or that he was particularly handsome, but as he glanced at his reflection, he saw the burns. His outfit today had the shoulders cut out, and the sleeves only went to his elbows. Though most people would have to see him in certain light to make out his scars, he easily picked out large patches of the silvery marks on his skin, looking themselves like silver flames. He sighed, then remembered he was supposed to be in a hurry.
He quickly took his meds, not checking to see how many he took and praying he hadn't overdosed- or underdosed, for that matter. Flinging open the door after grabbing his notebook, he rached with Nathaniel to the school.♡♣♥♧
Arriving at the school, Nightmare was coughing again and had no idea what was first period. But he wasn't late for school.
Leaning against the wall and trying to breath, he glanced around for Maddie. He wanted to make sure her burns had been treated. -
Maddie woke up late for school. Her back, arms, leg and, stomach hurt. She looked to the whip marks that's covered her arms. She quickly put on a long sleeve shirt and ripped jeans. She didn't realize you could see the whip marks through the holes in her jeans. Maddie saw her cut cheek, and turned pale. She still had to go to school. I will just make up a lie about it.. She ran down stairs an looked around the kitchen. She grabbed a banana and stuffed it in her mouth. Maddie grabbed her backpack and ran out the door. She began to run to school. Once she got close enough, she took out her lighter, her hand hovered the lighter. She was so tempted to touch it, but pulled back remembering the promise she had made to Nightmare. She put the lighter in her pocket and walked into the school.

As soon as she got in, a jock came and pushed her down. She fell hard to the ground. Maddies books scattered all over. She scurried , then picked them up. He laughed and walked away. She sighed and got back up. She walked through the halls quietly and cautiously. -
Nightmare was able to catch his breath after another minute, and he began to look around. Spotting Maddie, he smiled and walked over, only to have the smile vanish and be replaced by worry as he saw her cut cheek. "Maddie... What happened? Are you okay?" He asked, reaching up to touch the cut gently, his fingers barely brushing her skin. He still smelled faintly of the strange smoke.

"Umm…" she had to think of a lie. "My dog scratched me…" You could tell that she was lying, and the cut was much to deep to be from a dog. Her face went as white as a ghost. She smelt the stench, but ignored it not trying to be rude. Maddie looked to the floor, not wanting to make eye contact with Nightmare. She sighed as she breathed in deeply.
-
[align=center]"It was your father, wasn't it?" He questioned, voice gentle and worried. He knew she was lying. It was obvious.
-
She looked to the ground." Umm… we should get to class…" Maddie tried to change the topic. Her face turned hot and red from lying. Maddie wasn't really the person to lie.
-
Nightmare sighed, slate grey eye leaving her face. "Yeah, your probably right. What's first period today?"
-
"Well…" she said opening her locker that was really organized."Today we have block D…" she said looking at her schedule. Her blue eyes filled with sadness."Um nightmare … can I talk to you?"
(Omg I think… I tried to read that schedule on the first page you made and got really confused)
-
(XD What confuses you?)
"Hmm? Sure." He replied, wondering what she wanted to talk about.
-
( I just don't get it… lol my school schedule is way more easy than that…)
She looked him in the eye "But in private…" she took his hand, and led him through the crowded hallways. She went into a room, and closed the door behind Nightmare.
