Paradisefalls padded into the medicine cat den. His white fur freshly groomed with not a hint of dirt in it. His ears pricked up as he realized how unusually quiet it was in here today. Usually the two apprentices and their mentors were hear but lack of noise seemed to indicate they were not here. Maybe they had left to gather herbs or something. He sat down in the middle of the den for a moment. Only two injured cats were in the den. Something about an accident in a tree climbing contest that went wrong.
He closed his eyes for a second and the silence in the den seemed to welcome back memories of when he and Peri had been kits, the horrid tragedy that lead to Tigerlily's suicide, Aquairuspaw's execution and the last medicine cat to leave the clan forever. He'd gotten pretty close to Peri during that time. She was his best friend now, but now he rarely got to see her. He kept telling himself it was just because she was busy with her apprentice but he couldn't help but have a sinking feeling that she was avoiding him. It was probably not that but having to much time to himself had let him explore that as an option. Why was he missing Peri so much lately anyways to even consider that? Well he had always had a crush on her, even as kits.
Opening his eyes he shook off the thought. It didn't matter. Peri and he were friends and that was all. If he didn't see Peri around much not it was probably just because she was busy. Why was he over thinking this? Oh well. There was always work to do in the medicine cat den. That was the reason he'd come here, to help out not to see Peri.
His demotion had followed soon after his mother's death. It was probably for the best though as it had taken him a while to learn to cope with that. He'd been a warrior for, oh what had it been a little less than a moon? It still was strange though, he just felt he wasn't meant to be a warrior. How could he inflict injury on others when he had been trained to heal? He supposed it was just something he would have to learn to live with. He'd moved out of the medicine cat den to the warriors den the day of his demotion. However, when he wasn't on patrols he spent most of his time in here. Helping out where he could.
He noticed a small pile of herbs near the herb storage. Padding closer to investigate it he realized they were freshly gathered herbs that hadn't been put away yet. He started sorting out the herbs and soon was putting them where they belonged. There wasn't much to do in here today it seemed. He didn't want to leave the medicine den but it seemed there wasn't anything else to do right now.
