Snowypaw suddenly paused; she nearly stepped on an anthill. That gave her a an idea. She nudged the anthill's entrance to direct the ants to the bird. The bird noticed the ants and followed the the trail. Snowypaw then lunged for it when it came near her.

"Excellent idea, Snowypaw!" Brookcloud purred proudly, smiling at her."You are a much better hunter than I was at your age."
-
"Really?" Snowypaw asked excitedly before eagerly lifting the now limp bird in her mouth
-
"Yes, really." Brookcloud purred cheerfully, smiling at Snowypaw.
-
She purred happily.
"I'm so glad you're my mentor. You have such good skills at hunting!" she complimented after putting the bird on her back. -
"You're not so bad yourself," Brookcloud purred jokingly."And thanks. I'm glad you're my apprentice." she smiled happily at Snowypaw.
-
Snowypaw smiled and then trotted around again looking for prey.
-
Brookcloud heard a bird flying above her, leaped up into the air, and when she brought it down, she leapt back in surprise.
-
"Why you look so surprised? Is there something behind me.." she said, quickly turning around to check for an alligator.
-
"No, it's just the bird I caught." Brookcloud meowed, still staring down at the bird she had killed.
-
"Oh! Nice catch!" she said, smiling and relaxing.
-
"Thanks!" Brookcloud meowed."This is my first owl I've ever caught." she commented.
-
"Wow...I hope I can catch an owl one day.." she sighed, glancing at the small sparrow.
-
"Well, there's no time like the present!" Brookcloud meowed cheerfully.
-
"You got that right!" she chirped happily. Then she turned to the path again to find a field mouse. She pounced on it and trapped it with her paws and mouth.
-
"Great job!" Brookcloud purred.
-
She purred and put it on her back.

(Sure!)

(skip to evening, by the time the sun sets)
By the time the sun set, an exhausted Snowypaw has collected 5 sparrows, 4 field mice, a possum, and 2 voles. She laid on the ground, panting and weary.
-
Brookcloud deposited half of the fresh-kill on the pile, including the possum, and let Snowypaw put the rest on the pile. She walked back to Snowypaw."Why don't you get some rest." she suggested kindly.
