  • She sign languaged back, "He went to find the ranger... He told me not to find him. He said a lot of Changed are over that slope." She didn't quite know what the Changed were and all her father told her was that they were "Bad people".

  • [align=center][font=georgia][color=black] Alex took a deep breath and thought that over and looked at Tyler. "I'm pretty sure he's gone, Tyler." she mumbled and looked at the little girl, leaning down. "Okay." she whispered surely to herself and sign languaged the girl. 'Me and Tyler are going to look for your daddy, okay? You stay here and if you see anything that looks dangerous, I want you to scream, and hopefully this dog... um, your dog protects you. Understand?' She looked at the girl somenly.

  • [align=center][font=georgia][color=black] Alex nodded slowly. "Okay." She stood up and looked at Tyler. "We should take our parkas." She said heading back to get the two parkas and was relieved no one took them. She came back and handed Tyler his and nodded. "There should be guns in there..." she said quietly heading up the slope. "Just incase!" She called from over her shoulder.

  • [align=center][font=georgia][color=black] As soon as Alex reached the top of the slope, she had a bad feeling of it. She instantly noticed the faint scent of roadkill almost mingled in with Abby's father's scent and blood. She shivered and looked at Tyler. "I don't know if we should go down. I think I smelled the proof, and I don't want to run into any of them." Alex sounded like a whimp, but she was scared.

  • [align=center][font=georgia][color=black] Alex took a deep breath. "But, Tyler, his trail ends here." she said firmly but after a moment, she nodded. "Fine." She said as she followed the roadkill and Abby's fathers scent. All she thought was that she was leading herself into a trap.

  • [align=center][color=black][font=georgia] As she continued on eventually, her flashlight moving everywhere, she found it best to turn it off. Because the roadkill scent became unbelievably strong and she stopped, looking at Tyler. "Your gun." she mouth and reached into her parka, pulling her gun out.

  • [align=center][font=georgia][color=black] She slowly went on and suddenly she stopped at the trees, her eyes wide at the sight. It was just like before. Though a man was dead on the ground, no like three. A very older man and woman and then a younger man and under all the blood. The nature and cloned scent of the trail they followed, was this man. This man was Abby's father. She felt tears come to her eyes as she headed over, her gun shaking in her hand. The man's eyes were eaten out and there was hardly any of him left. She looked over at Tyler, about ready to break.

  • He was right in front of her. He looked over at the bodies and then to Alex. Tyler sighed, "Come on... They might still be around here and we don't wamt to leave Abby alone for too long. A dog can only do so much to protect her."

  • [align=center][font=georgia][color=black] Alex looked at the man, not able to keep her eyes off of him, at how horrible he looked. Though it could've been a wild animal he had their, the Changed, scent. She looked at Tyler sadly as she headed back towards the trees, quickly out from where they came from. "How are we gonna break this to the poor girl?" She asked quietly as she put the gun into her pocket.

  • "Simple. We don't. We tell her we found nothing and say we'll continue the search tomorrow," he instructed, not putting his gun up as he glanced over his shoulder. There was nothing following them so he put his arm around Alex to hurry her up, "Come on... We need to get as far away from those bodies as quickly as possible."

  • [align=center][font=georgia][color=black] Alex looked at Tyler for a moment. At first, being her stubborn self, she was going to deny it. When he put his arm around her, she was surprised. She stiffened under his touch but forced back any heat from her cheeks. "Right. Whatever you say." She murmured. She moved from his arm once they were at the bottom of the slope and walked over to Abby, kneeling down again, warmth leaving her body where Tyler once had his arm. 'We found no sign of your father.' She sign language. 'But we will continue tomorrow. Maybe he's at the Ranger's Station. Come with us and I'm sure we might find some trace of him.' She stood up, and the dog gave a small woof, it's tail wagging.

  • Tyler sat down on the top of the slope and watched.

Abby didn't look concerned and sign languaged back, "I know we'll find him. He promised he'd come back for me and he'd love to meet you."

  • [align=center][font=georgia][color=black] Alex nodded slowly and got up, reaching out a hand towards the girl. She felt so bad for her. She felt bad she was telling a lie. Thinking about it made her look at Tyler. She locked eyes with him for a moment, before turning to look at the girl, a bit hesitant. 'One more thing.' She sign languaged, offering her a smile. [i]'What is your dog's name?'

  • [align=center][font=georgia][color=black] Alex looked at the dog. "Ottis, I want you to stay by Abby's side and sniff out anything unlikely." Incase I miss it. She added mutely. She helped the girl up and fixed the parka over her shoulder. "Okay miss." She said as she sign languaged it. "We'll be heading towards the Ranger's Station and hopefully pass a stream. Come on." She looked over towards Tyler and nodded before heading oppisite of the slope and towards the Ranger's Station, trying to remember where she saw it on the map.
