Harley was being led into a large building by her owner. She knew what was happening. A few weeks earlier her masters got a phone call, and they had asked for Harley. She was to join the RDTC to become a rescue dog, because apparently, they didn't have enough. She knew she would never see her owner again after these last few minutes. The government had done something with their home, and before she was taken in the car to come to this strange place, her masters were living in a small room, part of a very large building. Harley didn't understand it, but she thought they couldn't afford to keep her anymore. Her master was carrying a sack with a pillow and a chew toy in it. She couldn't live without her pillow. She was born with it, it was the first think she scented, saw, even tasted! As her owner led her into the door, the human at the desk looked up. "She'll make a good one." he said as he set his papers down and walked out from behind the desk. Her master knelt down and kissed her, then rose and scratched her head. "Goodbye..." he rose, and the humans exchanged items. Her master handed the man her leash, and the man handed her master a wad of green paper. That's what your trading me for? Green paper? Harley felt hurt inside. Her master -or, human- opened the door and left.
Harley was led into a new room with hard floors and dogs barking everywhere. Her new master opened a gate that led to a small cage. In there was a fluffy bed, and some dog bowls. There was also a doggie-door. But it looked like it was blocked by something. She couldn't escape. The man un-hooked her leash and Set her pillow and squeaky toy down on the floor, then he unlatched the collar around her neck. Harley let out a whimper as he began to take it away. He looked back at her. "You want this?" he asked her, almost sarcastically. Harley tried to make her eyes look as sorrowful as she could- she knew humans didn't understand her. The man Left the collar hanging on the door. Harley watched him go, and lay on her new bed, with the pillow tucked safely in-between her paws. What will become of me here? she thought.
