• Mazie dove down into the water and after a second pulled her maw out to reveal a slippy and very floppy fish that was brought in with the hurricane. She looked up with triumph shining in her deep caramel eyes. If the fish wouldn't be clamped inbetween her maw she would have a large smile on her lips. She turned and trotted back through the water towards an alleyway. Not noticing Capone, or that he was watching her.

Rosette lay weak in the water underneath a broken tree. She was pinned to the ground by the tree and starving. The small brindle Wippet was shaking from her large fear of water, yet her she was pinned under a tree in the water and no way of excaping. She lifted her petite and narrowed maw up and howled a high and painful plea for help.

  • Neva bounded across the clearing in three strides to stand by Vinne and the other pups, but she had no fear. "My name is Neva" Neva barked lightly "And we are..ummm.. becoming a pack, we take in all lonely lost and hurt dogs....And I have a feeling that you will be persuaded to join us!" she finished casting a twinkling gaze in Midges direction.

Gabriel will be role-played later...Looking for the right time

  • Midge looked at Neva and giggled. It was nice to have someone else explain things for a change. She looked expectantly at Rosco. It didn't look like he quite needed to help of a pack, but perhaps he would be interested in joining anyways.

Capone took a step forward, wondering if he should follow the female or not. Midge would more than likely jump at the chane to make her a new recruit. However, he was caught off guard by a distressed yelp. The German shepherd ran towards the sound, subconsciously straying farther and farther from the pack. Eventually, he came across a fallen tree. He could smell another dog nearby, and sniffed around to see if he could find it. As he walked around the tree, he noticed a white dog trapped beneath it and quickly sprung into action. Capone pressed his shoulder against the trunk of the tree and tried to move it, but it was incredibly heavy from all the water it had absorbed. He switched plans and began pounding on it, slowly breaking away at it's soggy bark.
"Can you move now?" He asked once the whippet had a bit more room.

  • Vinne growled at what Midge said to her. "I suppose you would like Nevada or (forgot the others pups name XD) to die? Look at how big he is! He could kill both of them with one powerful blow of the paw! I'm not rude, really I'm not, but when my pups are in danger, it's my job to protect them!"

Texas followed Capone. He looked down at the Whippet. He sighed, and clawed at some bark with his big black paws. His droopy jowls spread into a smile as more room grew for the little dog to crawl out of.

  • "I would never want an innocent pup to die!" Midge retorted. "All I'm saying is if he was a cannibal he wouldn't waste the time trying to introduce himself! If you want to be mean, you can wait until after he proves himself untrustworthy at least. I like to give every dog a chance before judging them, but that's just me."

Capone looked back at Texas and growled, previously unaware that he had been following him the entire time. He watched as the hound did a bit more work on the hole he had already made and waited to see if the whippet could escape.

  • Vinne growled once more. "Well, when you get abused and put in cages, and fight for everything, you kind of learn never to give anyone a chance before you know them." She grabbed the pup, and shoved Nevada to a corner, where it was safer.

Texas looked up in surprise that Capone had growled at him. "Did you just, growl at me? For helping you! Fine, have it your way!" He turned around, and walked away. He wasn't always so moody, but Capone was on his last nerve. Why, Texas couldn't tell, he just was. So, he promised to stay out of Capones way for the rest of the day.

  • The Collie mix disappeared into the alley way and jumped up onto some dry rubble and starts the tear the scales off the slimy fish. Yes it wasn't her favorite but it was definitely better than nothing!

The whippet nodded and slowly crawled out from underneath the tree. "Thank you." She barked shyly. If he and the other dog had not come the tree could have trapped her there for days and she would have starved. Or it could have crushed her too. Her breed was normally thin and small but she was abnormally frail and bony.

  • Midge drooped her ears and padded over to Vinne.
"Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be snappy," She said softly. "You have your reasons, and I have mine, so let's just leave it at that...No hard feelings?"

"Mhm," Capone muttered in response to the whippet.
He watched Texas storm off and rolled his eyes. 'Guess its up to me to be the welcoming committee then.'
"Are you alone?" He asked bluntly.

  • Vinne nodded, she wasn't mad at Midge, just mad that she judged her like that. The dog would never understand, and honestly, she was glad that Midge had never been through that.

  • Rosette nodded. "Yes."She whispered, her thimble tail was tucked between her hind legs, her paper thin ears were drawled back, and she was still shivering.

  • Capone realized that must've sounded like a very sketchy question.
He hastily added, "There's a small pack of dogs nearby. They're looking to increase their numbers. Would you be interested in joining?"

Midge smiled at Vinne and padded back to Rosco to see what exactly the big dog wanted.

  • "Ah..."Rosette pondered. A pack? Dogs? How many? What would they think of me? I never even saw more then one dog except at the park! She thought. She shook her head as if to clear her mind the thoughts and nodded, "Sure..."

  • 'Well that was easier than expected,' Capone thought. Perhaps these were more desperate times than he imagined. He stood up and began walking back to the others, flicking his tail as a gesture for Rosette to follow him.
"I'm Capone, by the way," He grumbled. "The other dog you saw earlier was Texas."

  • Kita nodded, perking her ears slightly when he said that he had been previously a house pet. "No," She replied, shaking her head. "Kita. Ky-tah." She added, making sure he understood the pronunciation. The mutt only slightly wished Capone was around, but eh. She could use another friend, right?

  • "Nice to meet you Capone. I'm Rosette. Most call me Rosie though."Rosette barked softly. She followed slowly after Capone.

  • "Oh, right, right," Zeke chuckled bashfully. "Well that's a very nice name. Much nicer than Katie."
He noticed that the female seemed a bit as though her mind was elsewhere. After all, she failed to answer all of his question.
"And where are you from?" He repeated.

Capone remained silent until they reached the rest of the pack.

"Oh, I was beginning to wonder where you went, Capone!" Midge beamed. "I see you brought another member."

    "This is Rosie," Capone introduced.

"Welcome to the pack, Rosie! My name's Midge," The chinese crested greeted.

  • Kita jumped out of her thoughts. "I'm from the streets." She barked without regretting it. "I'm part of a..." The female hesitated, taking a deep breath. "Pack." She sighed a bit, shaking her pelt. "But they haven't bothered to see that I'm missing." Her eyes wandered to the ground, gladly appreciating that Zeke was tolerating her. But the thought that she hadn't been contacted disappointed her. After all, they found her first, right?

  • "Really?" Zeke furrowed his brow. "Maybe they're looking for you and you just don't know it...You should give them the benefit of the doubt."
He sat down and tilted his head to the side ever so slightly, not taking his gaze off of the interesting new female. A pack dog. Now that was really cool! Zeke had always imagined joining a pack if he ever got the chance to escape the pound.
"How long have you been in the pack? And why did you leave? If you don't mind me asking..."

  • Neva flicked her ears toward the new comers Where are all these dogs coming from?! she wondered picking up Myra.

Gabriel smelled dogs...Lots of them! He wondered how they even survived, all of the dogs he came across were either dead or dieing. He gripped a bit harder on the fox he was carrying and leapt gracefully onto a pile of rubble, and nimbly jumped onto a halfway collapsed roof to gaze down on the group of dogs. Well! was his only astonished thought.
Some dogs called him a cat, some dogs called him a savior, some dogs called him a healer, he didn't care even if he did seem weak in there eyes... He bent over and dropped the fox on the ground and then turned, and trotted away, with his tail disappearing over the edge.

I think I'm going to make Neva and Gabriel related....
