He gave a nod of thanks then smelled the air.

She looked around.

Duke stopped and scented the air again. He looked toward the trees and bushes.

She scented the air, "Do you smell something?"

"A pack of coyotes" he warned her "i think about ten"

"We should get moving..." She said as the scent hit her nose.

Duke looked at the bushes "they already see us"

"All the more reason to get going..."

"Yeah lets turn and run" he whispered "1...2...3" he turned and bolted toward the dark forest.

She followed, right on his heels, but one of the coyotes followed and latched itself onto her hind leg. Nocte let out a yelp of pain as she fell.

Duke turned and leaped at the coyote and tackled it. Another coyote jumped onto Duke. He turned to Notce "run" he yelled fighting the coyotes.
