Mesheekna did a sort of bird smile, the ends of her mouth tilting upwards ever so slightly. She immediately soared up into the sky, scouting for any prey below. It was hard to see with all of these canopy trees in the way, and she yearned for the meadows and plains back home, but made due with the impaired vision that she had. She waited patiently for Lightingstrike to climb to the top of a tree so he could see, her wings flapping every second or two to keep her from dropping or rising any more.

Lightningpelt bolted up the tree nearest to him and carefully watched Mesheekna from his perch.
-
Mesheekna was confused at why this cat was interested in watching her; he would not take anything out of it; but she mentally shrugged it off and scanned the forest floor. Soon enough she found a nice blue bird soar up from a tree nearby Lightningpelt; he must have spooked it when climbing up the tree; and she soared after it, her wings flattening to her body like a torpedo and her body zipping towards the ground. She caught the blue bird in the air, too fast for it to react, her talons tightening around it as she had done with one of Toxiclove's kits. She spread her wings and they stopped her momentum like a parachute. She did a loop in the air with her prize and doubled back to Lightingpelt, landing next to him.
-
Lightningpelt grinned at the hawk. "Impressive," he purred. "Wait until Toxiclove sees what you can do!" The tom leaped back down from the tree, his paws not aching one bit as he gracefully landed on the forest floor. He turned back to Mesheekna and told her, "Do you want to start speaking lessons now?"
-
Mesheekna nodded, dropping the dead blue bird next to her.
-
Lightningpelt mewed, "Alright, then, let's begin." He proceeded to teach her new terms and improve those she already knew. He quite enjoyed being the one who taught her to be one of them--a BlazeClanner.
-
Mesheekna clicked her tongue in frustration and tried again, "Fresh keel pile"
-
Lightningpelt mewed, "You've almost got it. But it's kill. You pronounce the middle a shorter. If you say it too long, it comes out as keel."
-
Mesheekna corrected herself, "K. Fresh-kill pile?" She tried, finally getting it right. Her feathers were ruffled, "This hard!" She exclaimed.
-
Lightningpelt nodded, then chuckled at her. "Don't worry, you'll get it!" he encouraged.
-
Lightpaw, a sort of pale creme tabby, swept her green gaze across the camp, the young apprentice taking in the vast camp with smooth swivels of her head. Finding nothing of interest, she simply stood from her sitting position and stretched, preparing for a short hunt. The idea put a small stone in her stomach; she was a fighter, not a hunter.
-
Mesheekna yawned and ruffled her feathers. She said, "It's going to raaein." She warned.
-
Lightningpelt briefly glanced up at the sky and saw that she was right; the regular blue hue of the sky was now a grayish tint, and dark storm clouds were quickly rolling in. "Alright, lesson over for today. Let's get back to camp."
-
Mesheekna nodded in agreement and spread her wings, shaking them out. She waddled towards camp, picking up her blue bird in her jaws.
Toxiclove wrapped her tail around her kittens tightly, her fur puffed up to hide them.
-
Lightningpelt trotted into camp and headed to the warriors' den, motioning with his tail for Mesheekna to follow.
-
Mesheekna obeyed, waddling behind him, her wings folded behind her back.
-
Lightningpelt crawled into the den and curled up comfortably in his mossy nest, keeping one amber eye open so that he could look at Mesheekna. "Choose any empty nest," he instructed, then close his eye and tried to fall asleep as the rain harshly pitter-pattered against the walls of the den.
-
Mesheekna looked around at the nests, then squawked, "I'd think I'd rather seet on a branch," She flew out of the den and up to a low hanging branch of a bare tree. She quickly fell asleep, the rain hitting her feathers and gliding off them like silk.
-
Lightningpelt shrugged. Well, she was a bird, after all. He didn't fall asleep for a while, though, since the rain was making so much noise.
-
Mesheekna fell asleep instantly.
Toxiclove couldn't sleep for fear of the bird, and she watched the bird from the entrance of the Nursery. She wished her mate was there to comfort her, but she wouldn't complain; she knew that he was leader and had more important things to do.
King stretched and laid down in the middle of the clearing, not minding the rain. His paws flexed, wanting to take down the bird and make it his lunch.
