before reading|| there are... not exactly drug references, but smoking. it can be whatever you want it to be. if you don't want it to be anything illegal, it's a cigarette. if you want it to be illegal, you can make it be. i'm just saying, don't go reporting me and say i used drug references (although technically the rules don't say you can't make them) because i never actually say they're smoking drugs. heck, i never say they're smoking at all really, just describe it, which i guess is the same thing, but whatever. just, yeah. be mature.
nala||
her name was nala. she was small, but she was still young. she'd grow, bigger, stronger, older. no one was entirely sure how old she was. such was the life of a rescued kittypet. but, nala knew she wasn't much older that seven or eight months.
and she was a kittypet. the life seemed to suit her, and yet, it didn't. she loved her two-legs, loved always having a meal when she wanted it, loved having someplace that wasn't too hot or too cold.
but she was a wild cat. she'd been born one.
she wasn't supposed to go outside. that was the two-leg's rule. but one two-leg, her favorite two-leg, didn't seem to care about the rules. that two-leg would let nala out whenever she wanted, but usually kept a close eye on her.
but today was different. nala's two-leg had brought another two-leg to the den, and together, they'd taken her outside. sitting in the yard, the orange tabby watched the two. they passed something between them, each taking their turn to put it to their lips, then giving it back as they let a gray cloud out from their mouths. sometimes one would cough, leading both to errupt in laughter.
whatever they were doing, nala didn't quite care. she was out of the house, out in the wild. and now, her two-leg wasn't paying any attention to her at all. she could run if she wanted to...
and so she did, into the woods behind her house. she didn't want to go too far: nala wasn't a great hunter, since she'd never really learned. but she could try at least, couldn't she?
she gave the air a sniff. so many scents, nala couldn't tell what was prey from what was plant. with a deep sigh, she flopped to the ground, rolling in the dirt and debris that covered the forest floor.
