Russetfox looked down at Rosekit, unsure if telling this story to kits would be the best idea. "It was a long time ago, I was just a kit when it happened." She began, shifting her weight to a more comfortable position. "I had two brothers and a sister, they wanted to go out and explore the territory so badly, they where practically jumping out of their skin to go!" Russetfox tilted her head, trying to remember the details. "There where also other kits in the nursery, three other kits to be exact, so it was very crowded.
"We all decided to sneak out one night and explore when all the queens where asleep. It was hard staying up so late! We where all so very tired and wanted to go to sleep to, but we all managed to stay awake. The guard that night was a newly made warrior, sitting his silent viggle, and he fell asleep." Russetfox paused again, trying to remember the events. It was fuzzy in her mind, but still there. "We snuck past him, as quite as we could, and he didn't wake up. We all ran out into the forest. Seven kits in all, playing in the forest at night." Her head shook sadly.
"We ended up across the border, we didn't have any clue how to get back! So, all of us just wandered around, hoping to stumble across any cat that could help us. Some how, we lost one kit. We just couldn't find her! We all searched and searched, but she was gone." Russetfox shook her head sadly again, trying to remember exactly what happened again. "Her name was Crowkit, and she was 3 moons old. I was a moon older than her.
"Then, the sun started to come up. Just as the sun started to peak over the horizon, and owl took another one of us. This time a sibling of mine- Darkkit." Russetfox flicked her ear and bristled her fur. "This continued to happen, over and over again. Snowkit got picked off by a fox, Maplekit collapsed and just wouldn't get up..." Russetfox drooped at that memory, not wanting to dwell on it though her mind fixated on it. "We ended up stumbling into the camp of an enemy clan. They took one kit and I hadn't seen him again, and brought the rest of us home. There where only two of us left by the time we made it back, counting me of course." A sigh escaped her. Russetfox cuffed Rosekit's ear gently, adding "So am I going to hear talk from you kits about running off somewhere?" She asked.
