Autumnkit bounded off towards an oak tree, she had scented a mouse earlier. Now the small creature was nibbling on an acorn. The scent came over her and she immediately dropped into a hunters' crouch, as her brother, Nightpaw, had taught her. Autumnkit pulled herself forward, not making a sound as she leapt through the air, her leap even as silent as her pawsteps had been. Her claws unsheathed, Autumnkit easily pinned the helpless prey down and bit it's neck, killing it with the bite. The scrap of fur lay unmoving on the ground, now gone forever, she thought, as she put a small pile of dirt over the catch, making a small mound in the dirt to remind her where the mouse was for picking up later. Although she couldn't see the mouse, she had scented it from where the oak was, nearly six tail-lengths away.

Glowingkit tossed her head around frantically, trying to detect the scent of vulnerable prey. Suddenly, a sweet, warm scent drifted over her, and she dropped into a low crouch. Hardly breathing, nonetheless making a sound, she crept towards the scent. The black kit peered through a layer of bushes, and saw a bird pecking at the ground. She bit her lip slightly, heart pounding with anticipation.
Glowingkit leapt at the bird, but she got a clumsy start as she broke through the bushes. The prey let out an alarmed screech, and the attacking kit growled in annoyance. Her claws landed on the feathery body of the bird, but she tumbled, the prey attached to her prey-hungry claws. As the clumsy kit drew up her head to bite it, the bird started flapping frantically, lifting Glowingkit off the ground a bit. The two creatures fell, the bird not quivering with fear and weakness.
Glowingkit attempted again to bite the bird, but it ducked out of the way, lifting her off the ground farther this time. She let out an alarmed screech as the bird slowly ascended into the sky, the kit's claws still clinging onto its body. Before she could let go, Glowingkit and the bird were nearly above the treetops.
She gave a little squeal of horror, sinking her claws deeper into the flying prey so she did not let go. "Stupid bird!" she spat at it as it frantically flew in the opposite direction of camp. "Can't you just accept your fate and die already?" -
Autumnkit pricked her ears for any sign of unsuspecting prey, not noticing Glowingkit flying through the air until she heard a squeal of terror above the dense forest. She quickly leapt onto the oak beside her, unsheathing her claws and pulling herself up to the topmost brach calling out her friend's name desperately until she spotted a small black speck soaring through the sky,"Glowingkit!" Autumnkit screeched, balancing on the very tip of the tree until the bird came tumbling down, too much weight for the small creature. She stuck out a paw, grabbing Glowingkit from the bird and setting her down on one of the branches while Autumnkit raced to the bird, now out of breath from the long flight with Glowingkit. She pounced, her body practically flying through the air, as she twisted the creature's neck. It fell limp on the tree branch, a few scarlet drops of blood falling from it's neck where Autumnkit had bit it with one, swift deathbite, as Autumnkit called it. She cursed under her breath at the small bird, angry at how much trouble it had caused for both of the kits.
-
Glowingkit laid on the branch, too stiff to move. There were a few scrapes on her flank from where the branches on trees had scratched her while she was flying. Her black ears pricked a bit when she heard a crunching noise, and before she knew it, she was plummeting towards the ground. Luckily, a leafy bush broke her fall, but it wasn't strong enough to hold her small body, so she tumbled within its leaves and branches. She lay on the ground, panting, tail fluffed out to be twice it's size. Glowingkit then relaxed a littl,e struggling to breathe properly.
-
Autumnkit picked up the bird in her jaws, still laying unmoving. Nimbly, the kit leapt from tree branch to tree branch, landing beside Glowingkit,"I'll help bring you back to camp, although I think you might need poppy seeds for the pain,"she commented, looking over Glowingkit carefully, sniffing her, making sure there was no sign of blood at all,"No blood. Alright, stay here, I'll try to scent poppy seeds nearby,"she mewed softly, a comfortingly tinge to her voice. Autumnkit raised her muzzle to the air, trying to scent any sign of the poppy seeds and finally found some, stashed away, probably by a hunger squirrel for leafbare, soon to cover the forest,"Eat these,"she directed, pushing the poppy seeds in front of Glowingly.
-
Glowingkit licked up the tiny black seeds, wincing at the rough feeling of them sliding down her throat. Her eyes widened to be as big as full moons, and she jumped to her paws. "We can't go back to camp!" she exclaimed. "Not yet! I was just...just in a bit of shock, that's all. Come on, just a little more time in the forest?" she pleaded, ignoring the minor pain on her sides. Her paws were a bit bloody from her prey fights, so she would need to wash them off, anyways.
-
"We're going back to camp, Glowingkit. I'm no medicine cat, but I know enough that you should at least get rest and yourself checked over,"Autumnkit mewed, a bit sternly to the younger kit. She should've been made an apprentice long ago, she would've had more control over Glowingkit, but of course it seemed she would always remain a kit, or at least the way she thought of it...
-
Moonkit sniffed the air. He smelled fox! "Hello? Rix?" A growl came from the bushes. "Whose there?" moonkitt stood up straiter. "it's me, moonkit." "Oh." said the fox. "Why'd you come here??"
-
Glowingkit lowered her head sadly, but didn't argue with her friend. "You're probably right...We'll have to stop for that mouse I caught earlier, though." the black kit added, flicking her tail tip a bit. Her tail suddenly coiled tightly as a foul scent drifted past her nose.
"Ick!" she exclaimed, trying to block out the unearthly scent. "What is that? It smells like a cat went swimming in mud while eating crowfood!" Glowingkit lay her tail tip atop her nose and shut her eyes tightly. -
"I need your help, Rox." Said Moonkit. "I need big prey... like.. like... A duck! Or a goose!" He smiled. "Hmmm... " Siaid Rox."I think I got an idea..."
-
Glowingkit turned her ephyrae in all directions to find the source of the scent, but couldn't see it. "What do you think that stench is?" Glowingkit whispered, lowering herself into a crouch and widening her eyes warily. "It doesn't smell like prey, that's for sure."
-
Rox trotted along, out of the border into a feild. "Were are we going?" Asked moonkit. "To those." Rox nodded at some chickens in a pen.
-
The scent began to fade away, and Glowingkit straightened, confused. "Ah...okay? That was weird. Maybe my nose is just playing ticks on me!" she exclaimed, going cross eyed to look at her nose. She giggled, then studied Autumnkit. Deep down, Glowingkit felt like her friend was lying about something. But what was it?
-
"And?" said moonkit. "I can't see!" "Chickens. Big birds." Said Rox. He nimbly snuck into the fence, and emerged with tree. "You take two." Said Rox. "Awesome!" Said Moonkit. She dragged them slowly back to her friends.
-
A strong scent overcame Glowingkit, and she pricked her ears. It smelled like the bird that had almost caused her ultimate demise, except a bit different...she couldn't put her tail-tip on it. The black kit returned to her defensive crouch. "What's that smell?" she whispered to her white-furred friend.
-
"Hey guys!" shouted Moonkit through a mouthful of feathers. "Look!"
-
Glowingkit whipped her head to look at Moonkit, and her jaw dropped. "Great StarClan!" she exclaimed, padding up to Moonkit. "So that was the smell!" she muttered, nosing the mysterious large bird. "Where in the name of StarClan did you find these? Can you show me? I wanna hunt one! Are they hard? Did you get hurt? I got hurt hunting a bird, I actually flew!" the black kit got a bit carried away in her excitement.

OOC: Sorry! I couldn't stay up late last night! I was REALLY tired!

IC: Autumnkit couldn't help, but let out a slight hiss. She didn't trust Moonkit, they shouldn't have even been this far into the forest,"I'll probably never be allowed to be an apprentice since I'm blind. This is probably going to be the last time in the forest for me,"she muttered to herself, her head hanging, tail dropping to the ground as she turned around, ready to pad back to camp, still feeling alone and forgotten. Autumnkit's tail dragged on the ground, her heart broken, she wasn't impressed with Moonkit at all, in fact, it was the opposite. A stench suddenly came over her. Fox!
-
"My... friend helped me get these." she smiled. "I mostly got them to impress you guys, though." Now he felt embarrased.

OOC: By the way, thanks for the dragon artwork, RavenRainbow! Luv it!

IC: Autumnkit scented the air again and smelled the same stale stench, now filling the air, telling the kit that the savage creature was close by. Before she could yowl a warning, she heard a sound behind her, although she barely understood the hoarse voice of the fox.
