Mirror, a long-furred russet she-cat with sparkling green eyes, padded around the forest. Her collar still rubbed at her neck fur in the most disgusting, trapping way, but she was free. Free from the closed-in walls of her Twoleg nest, free from playful Twoleg kits pulling at her tail, free from the loud squawks and constant turmoil. Free! She scanned the scene around her, already feeling much more wild when she saw the first dense spruce. Even freer, she felt, when she tripped over a coiling bramble tendril and got a huge rosethorn stuck in her paw. It hurt, but she enjoyed tugging it with her teeth and licking the welling wound. All alone, I'm all alone! Such a wonderful place and all alone! Mirror thought joyously, mentally yowling her joy. She felt much to prim and proper as a forest cat to actually do it.
Then a thought struck her like a bolt of lightning. Mother told me to always avoid the forest because of the ... Clans, were they? ... that prowl it! OH, NO! CLAN CATS! They'll shred me as though I were their prey and eat me for dinner! Mirror crouched in a thicket, terrified that they wicked cats would smell her. She wanted to run, she longed to run, but she felt rooted to her spot with fear. Pleasedon'tsmellmepleasedon'tsmellmepleasedon'tsmellme, she cried in her head, feeling her russet fur tangle. OK! I'm scared! I wanna go HOME!! [font=georgia]
