I heard something behind me and turned to see Maria. I walked over and smiled. "Let me get those." I leaned down to get the keys and then straightened up and handed them to her.

I smiled thinly at her and accepted the keys. "Thank you," I murmured and shoved the keys into the ignition. I looked back up at her to make sure there was nothing else she wanted.
-
I smile slightly and turn away, adjusting the strap to my bookbag as I walk away.
-
"Okay well bye then..." I murmured and backed, painfully, out of the drive way. I winced pretty much the WHOLE way home. When I got out my mom was gone. Frowning I ran inside and threw the door open. My little brothers were all sitting in the living room, sobbing and holding each other. "Boys? Where is mom?" I asked worriedly.
Micah looked up at me with sad eyes. "Mommy said she was sad and went to the bar. She said you would be home to take care of us..." He said, sniffing. I knelt in front of the and opened my arms. They rushed into them and sobbed into me. They had probably been so afraid...
"It's okay babies.... It's okay...." I whispered repeatedly. -
I walk out of the school after the teacher threatened to give me an after school for not paying attention. I don't really care. I wouldn't go to it anyway. He can't tell me what to do. I walk over to where Lily was and smile wrapping an arm around her waist and leaning over to kiss her gently.
-
I called around and finally found someone to watch the kids while I went to look for my m. I circled around town after going to all the bars and tried to find where my mother went. I couldn't find her and sighed, circling around town again.
-
I smiled and draped my arms around Ryder's neck, kissing him back. My eyes sparkled and I pulled away. "Lets go!" I hopped in the car, started it, and waited for Ryder. I couldn't wait to get to the woods.
-
I finally found her, stumbling along on the road that led out of the park, carrying a bear bottle. "Mom!" I yelled out loud and parked the car, jumping out of the car and limping towards her. "Mom what the crap have you been doing!" I yelled, grabbing her shoulder. She looked up at me and her eyes went wide and bright as she smiled at me. "Maaaaarrrriiiiaaaaa!" She yelled. "You want sooome!!??" She asked throwing the bottled at me. "No!" I yelled, slapping the bottle out of her hand. It fell towards earth and exploded on the ground, spraying beer everywhere. My mom looked down and frowned at it. "Wha ja do that for?" She asked still frowning at the ground. "Because! You need to come home!" I yelled. I tried to drag her to the car, but she fought me, slapping and trying to punch me. I dodged, but fell and my mother began kicking my ankle. "Worthless! You worthless daughter!" She screamed so loud Maria thought everyone in town would come running.
-
My sensetive hearing detected the noises of Maria and her mom from the parking lot. My eyes widened. "Ryder, its Maria. Shes in trouble. We have to help her!" I dashed into the woods, quickly changing. I loomed behind Maria's mother, snarling. I was at least twice her bight and triple as wide at the shoulders. My green eyes flashed with anger.
-
Maria whimpered and looked at Lily with pleading eyes. "Help," she cried, tears spilling down her cheeks. "Shut up!" Her mother yelled.
-
I snarled, grabbing Maria's mother by the collar of her shirt and lifting her off the ground. I gave her a good shake, waiting for her to go unconscious. When she finally stopped thrashing, I set her down and padded over to Maria. I whimpered and nuzzled her, bringing her to a standing position with her arm draped over my neck.
-
I snarl and shift when no one sees. I bolt after her and dash towards the mother. I stop as Lily gets the mother and I turn to Maria and whine as I look at her carefully.
-
"I'm sorry...," Maria whimpered. "Thank you."
-
I take my arm off of Lily and lean against the car.
-
I shake myself out and shift, placing my hand in Ryder's thick fur. "Are you alright, Maria?"
-
I glance at her hand in Ryder's fur and then glance at my mother on the ground. "I think I'm going to be sick...." I murmured and then, to my utter embarrassment, turned and threw up on the grass. My long hair fell over my shoulder and into the ground in front of me. I winced and then threw up again.
-
I take a step forward, gently pulling her hair back over her shoulder. "Do you need a ride home, or do you think you'll be able to make it?"
-
I glance up at her with apology. "Would it be okay if you drove me home...and my mom?" I asked with a sniffle and whipped my mouth with the back of my hand.
-
"Of course." I turn and wrap my arms around Ryder's neck. "I'll be home later." I kiss his furry cheek and help Maria get her mom in the car. I strap her in, help Maria in the Camaro, and climb in. "Which way to your house?"
-
I pointed to the left and leaned my temple against the cool glass of the window. "After that take two right and then left. Its the first blue house on the right."
