  • The Basic Plot:
Nellie Cros is your average seventeen-year-old girl — sort of. She is actually half-vampire, her mother dead and her father somewhere in Italy. Nellie isn't alone though — she lives with a vegetarian coven of vampires, the Cros coven, which consists of two female vampires and two male vampires. And then her. Nellie has always felt that she has stuck out, being a half-vampire. She is just trying to fit in in the rainy town of Seattle, Washington, but it's not exactly working out. Fortunately, she meets a young boy — about sixteen years old — and accidentally falls in love with him. The bad thing: her sweetheart is her enemy. That's right — he's a werewolf. And now, Nellie has no idea what to do when her coven is out to get that particular group of werewolves. To make it worse, not only does Nellie love him, but he has imprinted upon her, making her choice even more difficult. What will Nellie choose?

I walked into school. Ugh! This is such a drag! I go to Mr. Fitsco's class and take a seat in the back of the class room. I pull out my ipod and plug the headphones in. I put them in my ears and turn to my favorite song. Instanly, I zone out, and class hasn't even started yet. This is going to be a looooong day.

  • Nellie Cros walked into Mr. Fitsco's class shyly, ducking her head as she walked to an empty seat in the back of the classroom. She held her breath, hoping the teacher wouldn't try and introduce her to the class. But her heart sunk like a stone when Mr. Fitsco called her up to the front of the classroom and introduce herself. "Uh, I-I'm Nellie," she murmured quietly, looking at the ground

  • Mr. Fitsco walks up behind me and sees me with my ipod. “Mr. Simons, we do not allow ipods in this class.” He holds his hand out and I place my ipod in his hand. He takes it and points up to some girl in the front, nervously introducing herself. “Uh, I-I'm Nellie," she murmured quietly. Nellie? Hm. Strange name. I look at her as she finishes introducing herself.

“Nelli, you may sit down now,” Mr. Fitsco says.

When she makes her way over to her desk next to mine, I lean over and introduce myself. “Hi. My name’s Michael. You’ve just entered the most boring class on earth.”

  • She smiled at him and laughed. "Hi," she replied. "Is this class really that bad?" she asked

  • I laugh. "Yeah, it..." I somehow manage to cath her eye. My heart stops, then picks up double time and leaps into my throat. Nellie is the one. What did _____ (Whoever the Alpha is) say about imprinting?

When a werewolf imprints on a specific person, he becomes unconditionally bound to her for the rest of his life. When it happens, the experience is like being gravitationally pulled toward that person while a glowing heat fills him. The connections of everything else become severed, or simply secondary, and only that person is left to matter, leaving the werewolf with a deep need to do anything to please and protect the person. Do anything for her. Be anything for her.

And Nellie was it. And here i thought that it wouldn't happen to me. "...is," I say finishing my sentence. This girl was to be my "soul mate" and here she sat, oblivious. God my life sucks.

  • Nellie smiled slightly and chuckled, then furrowed her brow as she gazed into his eyes. God, he's handsome, she thought. "Is everything okay?" she asked, seeing his expression.

  • I take a deep breath. “Yeah. Everything’s okay.” [i]Except for the fact that as of right now, you’re all I can think about![i]

But try as I might, even when class started, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her for long. At the end of class, I gather my things. “Where is your next class?”

  • She looked at her schedule. "Uh, Calculus with Mr. Samone," she responded with a small smiled

  • "Do you mind?" Michael asked, his hand extended to take her schedule. I have to see how many class she has with me. Yep, this is going to be a long day. But a good one. An entertaining one. Maybe if she isn't doing anything later... My heart accelerates. No. Don't get your hopes up. She might have something planned. I take the time to look at her again. God she's beautiful.

  • She smiled and handed him her schedule. He's so insanely handsome... she thought to herself

  • He looked from her schedule to her. Every class but Gym. We'll have to fix that. I don't think I'll be able to stand being apart from her for that long. "Me too. Come on," I say, giving her paper back. When we get outside the classroom I stop her. "Uh, Nellie? I know you kinda just got here and all, but... would you maybe want to get a coffee or something later? I mean if you don't have anything planned of course! If you do, that'll be cool to. I just-" Uh! Your babbling! Shut up! I take a deep breath and lower my head. I look up at her from under my eyelashes, something I see my mom do alot to Dad, and say, "I mean, do you wanna go somewhere with me? After school?" I've never wanted anything else in the world more than I wanted her to say yes.

  • She grinned. "Of course! I'd love that," she said. Something about him was different. She liked him

  • Michael broke into a huge grin. "Great." I open the door for her and gesture for her to enter. "Ladies first."

  • She smiled at him and walked through the door, sitting down

  • I make sure to take a seat next to her. But this class is no better than the last one. I'm starring at her the whole time. But this time, I don't feel so bad about it. The school day passes by in a blur and at the end of the day, I lead her to my dark green jeep. I open the passenger door and let her in, then I go around to the front door and start the car. "Where to?" I ask grinning.
