A lone white she-cat sat perched outside the Apprentice's Den, her soft green gaze cast upward to Silverpelt.
Her sand-colored ears twitched, listening carefully to every sound. The crickets chirped, the wind blew, and the rustle in the grass nearby made her tail cease its idle twitching in alarm.
Berrypaw's eyes widened and she starred towards the source of the sound before slowly rising to her paws and creeping over in the warrior's crouch.
Many concerns flickered in her mind. What if it was a fox? She could barely catch a rabbit without it scratching her, a fox would tear her to pieces!
Berrypaw started to back away then, her thoughts turning against her and her own fear scent was starting to fill her nose.
"SURPRISE!"
The she-cat let out a loud yowl at the sudden meow and a white blur hurtled through the tall grass to throw her back onto the ground and pin her there with a paw on her chest.
She flailed madly, unable to see her attacker from the sudden panic filling her head and finally a sharp lick over her nose made her pause and let loose a growl.
"QUICKPAW! YOU MOUSEBRAINED FURBALL!" She shrieked and shoved her brother, who was now rolling and giving loud mrawwwwww's of laughter.
"It isnt funny! You scared me so bad I nearly clawed your face off!"
"Oh please..." Quickpaw purred, sitting up and flicking his tail at his sister. "You were whining like a kit looking for milk! You didnt even raise a paw against me!"
Berrypaw felt heat rush to her face under her fur and she stalked off, tail in the air, over to the otherside of the camp while her brother meowed after her a stream of apologies.
With a sigh Quickpaw turned to leave the apprentice area, he'd let his sister calm down before speaking to her again. In the meantime, EXPLORATION TIME!
Berrypaw sighed, watching her brother's long bushy, russet-colored tail disappear through the gorse bushes lining the camp.
May as well go find something to do...
