Fae's instincts were in overdrive, her growling uncontrollable as she looked around. The strange scent Tyrone had announced had put her amazement with the skulk's various transformations to an abrupt end. What she could see now were shadows, quick, blurry figures, she could hear their snarls, their whimpering, the surprised yips, the ferocity of battle.
Yet she was frozen in place, her eyes the only part of her that was moving, her brain seemingly fast asleep for however long it took for her to realize that one of the enemy shapes rushing by was heading for the dainty figure of Lae's spirit animal. Fae felt something move inside of her, like an explosion that brought her function back to life. Without realizing it, she bounded forward, her ears pressed against her skull, her eyes fixed and determined as she flew above the ground.
Flew? It was then that Fae decided to look down and a jolt broke through her body, sending her back for a bit, yet she remained in the air, something holding her afloat. She couldn't believe what she was experiencing, she had been running just seconds before! She had expected some sort of notice before her shapes would change, but there had been no crack of bone as her body reshaped, it had come as natural as breathing and Fae was uncertain of whether she should be concerned about that or grateful for it.
One thing she knew for certain, however, was that Lae needed her, the same way Fae had needed her during the badger conflict that seemed to have happened so very long ago. Flapping her wings twice, she ventured forward, soaring high, straightening out her large wings. Even in her changed self, Fae's broad proportions remained. She was carried by the wind until she came right above the doe and the wolf heading right for her throat.
Folding her wings, the wedged-tailed eagle, former fox, charged downwards, the ground getting closer and closer with every rapidly passing second. She opened her wings in time to avoid a clash with undisturbed naturalness and a shriek escaped her throat as her talons pushed forward, aiming towards the flank of the attacking wolf, her purpose to tumble the carnivore before he managed to reach its target.
