  • I couldn't find anything on google so I decided to ask the Bronies and Pegasisters here to answer the most important question: Lunar Republic or Solar Empire? Is Celestia really a tyrant? Is Luna any better? No swearing please. No petty insults. This is a debate and not an operunity to brush up on your trolling skills. I'll start us off with what I think is the biggest question: Is Celestia a tyrant?

  • "The story was Celestia refused to give up her power to Luna, right? So it's her fault that Luna turned into Nightmare Moon. Since Luna is moon and Celestia is sun, she unbalanced Equestria. I dont think Celestia is that big a tyrant, but that was selfish," Hope says. She sides with the New Lunar Rebulic.

  • "Well, without the sun, we would have no trees, thus no air. Also, the sun is the thing that makes the moon shine in the night. Celestia wasn't a tyrant, Luna wouldn't let day come, so she was forced to send her to the moon," Petunia says. She sides with the Solar Empire.

  • "Well, the simple fact was that Luna was lonely. All the ponies spent all their time of day working and playing, so stating that Luna grew bitter of loneliness, not jealousy for her sister. As we are not concious of how long we actually sleep at night, perhaps, without us knowing, the time of day is longer than we think. Maybe if it were not so long, Luna would never had become bitter to start with." Requiem says. Her heart belongs with the Luna Republic.

  • "Yes," Hope agrees. "And the sun and the moon have nothing to do with it. This debate has to do with the sisters. Luna still doesn't rule with her sister. The citicens of Equestria have not met her. If she becomes lonely again, Nightmare Moon could rein again. celestia needs to share power with her sister."

  • "At the time, the ponies DID know Luna. She was not lonely. She DID rule alongside her sister. And now, Celestia DOES share her power."

OOC: Refer back to Luna Eclipsed, according to that, Luna will not become lonely again. She has friends. Your argument is invalid.

  • OOC: Refer back to my post. I implyed that Luna was (saying that like a time phrase), lonely. Of course she is no long lonely, but she was.

"Petunia, of course Luna has friends now, but I am referring back to the period where Nightmare Moon emerged. Imagine watching all the ponies play all day, it would be rather amusing, but when the slept at night, it would feel rather empty."

  • OOC: Ok, must've read it wrong

IC: "Hmm, yes, I guess I will re-side..." Petunia murmers. She re-sides to the Solar Empire.

  • That brings us to our next point: Nightmare Moon. How much blame rests which each princess?

  • Yeah, it does. I mean, didn't Luna kinda over react to the whole, "PONIES SLEEP AT NIGHT AND PLAY AT DAY MYNERN HYNERN!" and Celestia put a little too much power to herself.

  • Yes, I would. Nightmare Moon threatened to have it be night forever so the ponies would have no choice other than to play during her night. This sounds like something a pony with mental issues would say. It's an overreaction, ponies need their rest and night is the only time to do so.

  • "Well, is the night all bad?" Hope spoke up. "Has it evered occured to you some ponies like midnight strolls? Luna was jealous, that's all. Maybe to appease her someponies should have started going out at night more."

  • "Well, not all ponies like the dark, such as me. And Celestia put too much power to herself by making a somewhat big deal about the day. That's all I got right now,"
