Maverick nodded quickly, as he began planning what he would do if she were to pass out. "Don't worry Max, I will protect both of you." He said with a half smile which could be interpreted as either happy or worried. "I promise." he added, his eyes seeping comfort and control.

Kari couldn't say anything to either one of them, she was at a lose of words. She sighed deeply, disappointed in herself. She just kepted on walking the way she was going.

Max followed her, asking. "Please can you stay with us? I want to protect you, Mocho does too." He added, showing her Mocho.

Maverick was at a loss for words. "Ah. Hmm." He started to say something but thought better of it. His heart went out to the boy. "Someday you will realize that you can't protect everyone." he thought, tears threatened to blur his vision but he swallowed hard and looked farther down the path, trying to put his past behind him.

Kari eyes became a blur, the more it hurt the more she was losing it. She held on for as long as she could, but it came to the point were she couldn't stand anymore, she had to sit on the ground. This is why she wanted to be alone, she doesn't want people to see her in pain. She held her head with one hand, and with the other she put on the ground so she could hold herself up. -
"Kari!" He said worriedly, gently placing Mocho down and hugging her.

"Come on Kari, we're going to get you out of here." Maverick said trying to remain calm for Max's sake. "Max help me get her on my back." he said as he crouched down, reaching to pick her up.

Andrew saw Maverick Kari and Max and said "need any help?" he looked at them all

Kari look at Maverick for a while, he didn't seem to be joking. She glanced at Max for a second as he hugged her. "I'll be fine Max." she said gently patting his head. "I guess I'm not as strong as I thought." she added.
