  • Background Info
Since the beginning of time, or when human beings roamed the earth, they weren't alone. Of course there were animals and other living creatures, but that's not what I mean. Shifters roam the earth alongside the humans as well, hiding their presence either in their animal form or human form. But their existence has remained a secret...until now. Nowadays the existence of shifters is common knowledge, the humans know of them, and begrudging co-exist with them. Some humans don't mind and welcome the shifters, others don't. The shifters didn't like getting revealed but being out in the open has made things easier for them. They no longer have to hide as much, but their abilities still scare people and there are people who discriminate against them, but it's not like humans can beat the shifters who are naturally stronger than humans. But of course, this doesn't stop fights from happening, segregation sometimes happens as well. Since the humans have the police and court to protect them, the shifters have made their own court, a system to protect the rights of shifters. The system is called the Directorate and many of the memebers work as shifter police as well as other jobs, like forensics or hackers, protecting their kind from unfairness from the humans, they are called guardians. But even that doesn't stop things from happening. Many shifters and humans are killed, accidentally or purposely because single people who can't get along together. Jump into the world of Shifters and humans, fighting for peace, and struggling along the way. Shifters have blended well into the human world, having taken on jobs and have families, heck halfbreeds, offspring of a shifter and human aren't uncommon but still rare. Shifters naturally live longer than humans, about 30 years longer and maintain a young appearance longer than a humans.Once a shifter hits 30 years of age their physical appearance starts aging slower so they might be 60 years old but still look around 50 maybe. Before the age the 30 they physically age like regular humans.

    Extra Information
The only way a shifter is different from a human is because shifters carry an animal aspect of them onto their human form, usually unusual hair color or animal like eyes. Also the natural fur and eye color of the animal is usually the hair and eye color of the human form. Like a regular tiger shifter in human form would have orange hair, a flamingo shifter would have pink hair. If the animal is hairless, well then the human is bald. But the human form can always dye their hair, but the dye doesn't affect their animal form. Also depending on the animal the shifter's strength is determined. Animal shifters like bears, tigers, or wolves have abnormal strength. Bird shifters are light on their feet and can almost float. Rodent shifters are small in size. Rabbit shifters are quick. Hooved shifters like horses, deer, moose have good endurance and sturdy frames. Aquatic shifters of course can swim just like their animal counterparts. Snake shifters have infrared vision and slim bodies. If you have a question about what strengths your shifter has, put an OOC in your post and I'll answer you via either PM or through my posts. Any kind of shifter can mate together although the species usually stick to their own kind. So wolf shifter with wolf shifters, but usually if the animals are in the same family like a wolf shifter can mate with a dog shifter. In this case the offspring will be a hybrid, ex. a wolfdog shifter or a moose/deer shifter. Shifters have a faster metabolism than humans do so they usually have a slimmer form, unless of course they just gorge themselves. Fat shifters aren't impossible.

    Your Role
In this RP you can either play as a shifter or human, or both. Just make a simple bio (I will provide an example) and just hop into the fray. A shifter is a creature who has a one human appearance, as well as one animal appearance. They can be any animal they want to be, be it a mouse, or a bear. You can even be a fish for all I care, although you'd have to put yourself into an aquatic area. When in human shape and morphing into animal shape, the clothes change along with the body but when you change back to human, the clothes are usually ripped or torn (tops mainly) or you might be even naked. ;D So either you can strip before you morph or take the chance of ruining your clothing.

    My character:
    Name: Kye Monrey
    Age: 26 year old
    Race: Arctic wolf shifter
    Occupation: Directorate Guardian
Personality: A laid back wolf who takes his job as a guardian seriously but at other times is quite lazy and lackadaisical wanting nothing more than to sit at home and smoke. He dislikes humans and doesn't really mingle with them, preferring to stay with his own kind. The only time when he is at the top of his game is when he's on a serious mission. otherwise he's sometimes rude and disinterested in many things. His preferred weapon are two steel tonfas and he's a close range fighter.
History: He is a pureblood wolf shifter. His parents were killed when their car was "accidentally" hit by a truck driven by a racist human. He was adopted by a directorate guardian and trained to be one from a young age.
Appearance (picture optional): Kye is 6'1ft tall with a muscular but lean frame. He has white hair and blue eyes. He usually looks bored but his eyes get life when he's on a mission.
--Human form: http://media.photobucket.com/i…r/Yaoi/Cigerette.jpg?o=28 (picture him with white hair)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kye Monrey sat in a coffee shop table, reading the daily newspaper with one hand while his other was holding a small spoon and stirring his steaming coffee, vanilla latte, quite ironic considering his personality. The wolf shifter licked his lips absentmindedly missing the feeling of a cigarette in his mouth, but the shop didn't allow smoking so he had to endure.

Some of the occupants of the cafe shot him odd looks, know what he was from his unusual white hair. Yeah normal people didn't have white hair when they looked 26. It'd been a long time since shifters were revealed to human society but some distrust and hatred still ran deep. Putting the spoon down, he picked up his coffee and took a sip of his drink, relishing in the fresh taste.

He swung his neck in a circle, feeling satisfied at the popping sound he heard. Oh man he just got off work an hour ago and he only got 4 hours of sleep. Working for the Directorate could be a pain in the neck sometimes. Literally. He flipped the page of the newspaper to find that human women have gone missing and later were found dead. All evidence pointed to shifters as the culprit. Great, another case he'd probably have to solve.

Suddenly the door to the cafe banged open, causing the eyes of the customers to turn to it. Kye slowly raised his blue eyes to see why there was silence. There standing in the door were three big men, human men might he add from their scent. Humans always had a different smell then other shifters. The men looked around the cafe with angry eyes, then the leader ripped the newspaper away from a close by person and raised up the page about the missing women and showed it to everyone. "Who here is a shifter? Stand up and face the consequences if ya are you rotten lot!", the macho guy yelled as he shook the paper and looked around the place with angry eyes.

Kye remained seated but looked around as well for anyone who would stand up. If things got messy he would have to step in but he really really really didn't want to.

  • Name: Ella.
    Age: 13.
    Race: Wolverine Shifter.
    Occupation: ???
Personality: She is extremely strong for her age. But, she is surprisingly skittish, even though she is strong. But, she is also very shy, even though she's a Wolverine Shifter.
History: Her mother and father got killed, while they were in their Wolverine state. Ella has been living by herself since she was thirteen. Every day, she tried to find a part-time job, to earn some money for at least some food.
Appearance (picture optional): Brown hair, with natural black streaks in it. Tanned skin, with really dark brown eyes.

  • A black haired teenage girl with unusual amber eyes stood angrily. "Hey you! Just because some women are dead doesn't mean shifters did it!"
Ari felt her cheeks burn and her fists clench, nearly breaking the mug she was holding.

  • OOC: for the occupation you can put any job you want. Shifters can have humans jobs too :D The Directorate jobs are like government jobs, but for shifters. So for occupation, put a job you want your shifter to have, they have to make money to live too 8) And yes history is optional

"Hey you! Just because some women are dead doesn't mean shifters did it!"

Kye turned his head towards the voice and saw a young black haired girl as the one who shouted. As he looked at her he noticed she was probably younger then 20, but had courage to shout that out loud. Either brave, or foolish. But since she was a shifter, and he could tell from her scent and her reaction, she could more then likely protect herself.

The men turned towards her and the leader sneered at her. "Oh really little girl? And why not? Haven't you read the paper? It's all in the dang evidence. The bodies were mutilated, claw marks were found, animal hair was found, what do you have to say to that huh? Now tell me what you just said again girly!", the man shouted as his buddies laughed.

The man raised his arms and turned in a small circle. "Anybody else want to stand up for the freaks that live with us? That could kill us in any moment's notice? Any other shifter want to speak huh?", he shouted to everyone.

The cafe was quiet only the squeaking of the fan was heard. The humans were either agreeing with the man or so scared that they didn't, couldn't say anything in case they got beat up. Kye looked around the place and saw that there were about 8 shifters in the cafe, the young girl who shouted included. He caught a guy glaring at him because of his white hair, but Kye silenced the man with a harsh look, just daring the guy to speak out.

  • { Okay, well, Ella will work at the cafe there in. }

IC; There was a small shatter, as a girl dropped a tray that had two coffee cups. There was a small clatter from the tray, and a big smash from the cups breaking, and then dripping from the coffee. Ella just stared at the man, dumbfounded and extremely afraid. Quickly, the teen wiped her hands on her apron.

When the man spoke, the girl just stood there, staring at him with wide dark brown eyes.

  • Ari waited for a response. Part of her knew attacking him would make her kind looked bad, but the other part didn't care.

  • "You don't want to provoke me."

The man chuckled. He was probably just cocky and thickheaded. Shifters may be strong but a young shifter would still have problems beating a grown man, especially if he was ripped like the macho guy now. Kye internally sighed. He really didn't want to get involved but it looks like things could get ugly if he didn't stop. Young shifters had a good heart, just sometimes couldn't control themselves and emotions.

The muscle head laughed at the young black haired shifter. "What're you gonna do about it girly. I didn't do anything to you, so if you attack me, even your filthy Directorate couldn't help you. You guys, you non-humans are the minority and we humans are the majority. If you attack me the other humans will join in. And in this room, it's 10 to 1. There's nothing you can do about it.", he said as he sneered. The men behind him, also bone and muscle heads, laughed like idiots.

A crash was heard and Kye turned his head towards the sound. Another young girl, a waitress at the cafe, and also a young shifter might he add from her scent. He noticed her shock and then he wanted the men out of the cafe in case anyone got hurt. Some innocent people could get caught up if the muscle heads started a fight right here in the cafe. Guess it was time for his debut.

He put the paper down noisily and folded it in half and dropped it on the table, catching the attention of almost everyone in the cafe. He stared calmly at the group of men in the doorway with a collected and cool expression. "It's way to early to be having this discussion. So why don't you quit bullying young girls and start doing something productive in your grown up life? Or is picking on girls the only thing you can do?", Kye asked the man as he sat in his seat, crossed his long legs, picked up his coffee and took a long sip, then sighing in satisfaction after he swallowed.

Some of the occupants of the cafe chuckled but then went silent as the macho man glared at them. The muscle head literally turned tomato red from the white haired man's comments, his hands clenched and knuckles turning white, but he couldn't attack. He wanted to agitate the shifters and make the fight their fault, putting the blame on them. And he was close to, if that white man didn't speak then he was sure the black haired girl could attack him.

  • Ari clenched one of the sharp shards and looked at the man angrily. She kept it in her hand while she walked toward him. "I can call authorities." she replied, but desperately wanted to attack him. "Go on, scootle your bootles out of here. And don't let the door hit you on the way out."

  • Ella desperately wanted to turn into a Wolverine. They were surprisingly strong animals. In that state, she felt confident, and determined. As a human, she was skittish, shy, and kind of clumsy. But, that was how she was. She decided that she better just act like she was giving someone random an order.

So, that's exactly what she did. Pretending to casually walk to get two new coffees, Ella walked towards the counter, and turned her back to the coffee machines. The girl grabbed a mug, and put it under a coffee machine knob, before flipping it up, and letting the coffee pour inside the cup.

  • "I can call authorities." she replied, but desperately wanted to attack him. "Go on, scootle your bootles out of here. And don't let the door hit you on the way out."

The muscle head turned his attention from the white haired man to the black haired girl in front of him. He so wanted to punch her in the face, but held back, this was not the time for a fight. He'd get them later, he'd make these freaking shifter freaks pay. "This is not the end you freaks. I'll reveal you and your murdering schemes, mark my words.", he said as he and his buddies started to file out of the door.

Kye picked up a tiny wadded up ball of napkin and flicked it at the dudes, hitting the leader on the side of his head. Kye then put his hand down and held his coffee cup, looking like he never touched a napkin in his life.

The macho man grabbed his head and looked around for the culprit, but didn't see any. Chuckling from some of the customers embarrassed him that he walked though the door and stubbed his toe, holding back a yell of pain and limping out of the cafe. Once he left, the long held breath was released and everyone went back to what they were doing, either discussing what just happened or going back to their meals.

Kye waved a hand at the young waitress. "Need a refill of vanilla latte here.", he called reaching into his wallet to pay the waitress the money for the second serving. Kye then tried to make eye contact with the black haired young shifter. He was impressed with her courage but also saw the hard desire to just shank the man with that shard in her hand.

  • Ella sighed in relief, when the men left. She flipped the switch down, and dumped the coffee mug in the garbage. An order for a vanilla latte ringed in her ears, before she quickly hurried towards the voice. Smiling slightly, she nodded, and took his old cup.

She took her time to make the vanilla latte to perfection, before placing it on a tray, and lightly carrying it over to the man that ordered the coffee. She placed the tray on his table, and handed him the mug, and said, "Enjoy." before returning to the back of the counter, and placing the tray on the small shelf on top of her head.

  • Ari grinned and shut the door, going back to her job. She made eye contact with the white haired man for a brief second, and then went behind the counter, sliding the broken shards into the trash.

  • Kye gave a small nod to the waitress as she poured him a new cup of vanilla latte. The aroma was delicious as it flowed into his nose, and with his wolf sense, it smelled even better. The wolf shifter took a sip and sighed in content, dang this cup was better than the first one. Yum, just what he needed after a tiresome mission of stopping a shifter from carrying out a bad prank.

He turned his head and watched the young waitress as she walked back to the counter. She looked even younger than the other shifter girl. So young and working at a job already, something must have happened to her parents. That made Kye remember his own parents who were killed in a car crash by a racist human. That was the reason he didn't like humans much.

He finished off his drink stood up, grabbed the newspaper and stuck under his arm, picked up the cup and saucer and carried it over to the counter where both young shifters were working, one at the cash register one as a waitress. The manager, a 55 year old deer shifter, but looked 40 ish smiled at Kye as the wolf shifter came closer. Kye was a regular customer at the cafe, Marley's Morning, and he knew the manager well.

Marley patted Kye's shoulder as the white haired man came closer. "Hey there Kye. Thanks for helping Ari chase those goons out of here. Save me my cafe and these people's lives. Ari, Ella, come say hello to one of us.", the deer shifter said as he waved the two young girls over to meet the older man.

Kye set the cup down on the table and took a eat at the bar stools. He checked his watch, it read 9:15 AM. He sighed wishing he could go home and just sleep and smoke, but things just didn't work that way when you worked for the Directorate who worked your butt off. He waited for the two girls as Marely had said.

  • Ella turned around from her job of cleaning out some cups, in case more orders came. The Wolverine shifter could smell a faint wolf scent from Kye, but she still gave him a tiny little smile. The girl wiped one hand on her forehead, and the other on her apron.

Slowly, she approached the man and her boss. "Hi." Her voice was a little high pitched form fright, but otherwise, she sounded normal.

  • Kye nodded his head to the two girls as Marely introduced them. "Ari, Ella, meet a friend of mine, Kye Monrey. He's a Directorate Guardian, a protector of shifter rights. Kye these two young ladies are Ari Stamos and Ella. Thanks again for saving us Kye.", Marley said to the wolf shifter with a grin.

The white wolf shifter dipped his head in acknowledgment. He turned to Ari, the one with black hair. "You did good back there kid. Though next time, let them attack first. That way, I can get to kick some butt.", the wolf said as he put down the exact amount for his drink and slipped a $10 bill into the tips bucket.

Suddenly there was a yowl outside and then a crash. Kye snapped his head around and sniffed. It was those macho heads again up to no good he'd bet. With a backward glance at Marley he ran outside the cafe door and into the alley nearby where the scent was the strongest.

Some of the customers looked worried and Marley went around the counter to the door to see where Kye had run off to. He waved his hands to some customers near the window by the alley, telling them to relocate in case things got messy. The glass on his cafe were made of plexiglass and could take some hits before breaking down. The customers took their things and moved to vacant seats on the otherside of the cafe.

Marely turned to Ella. "Ella, get my gun in my office. I can smell trouble a mile away and I haven't got the nose of a canine.", he said as he braced himself for some trouble.

  • Ella nodded. She, being a Wolverine shifter, had a great nose, and darted into her boss's office. Her eyes looked around, wondering where he kept the gun, until she saw it. On top of his desk, which was kinda obvious.

The teen grabbed the gun quickly, and darted out of Marley's office. She quickly headed behind the counter, and gave Marley his gun, behind the counter, so nobody would see it.
