Starley didn't even flinch, jerking her wrist from his grasp and stepping away from him.

"Aw, it didn't hurt?" He asked, a teasing smile on his face. But Joseph wasn't playing anymore. He wanted this human dead before sunrise. It shouldn't take very long, but she's tough. He flashed in again, grabbing her hand with crushing force. He danced around her, bringing her arm around to her back.
-
Starley was done messing around. She twisted her free hand into her pocket, pulling out a sharp switchblade. It snapped open and she slashed backwards at his chest.
-
He snarled in surprise and pain, a long gash down his chest. He looked up at the Hunter. In his eyes was shock, respect and, oddly, pleasure. Joseph loved fighting, even welcomed it. He was glad to finally find a partner worthy of dueling him. Most died off before he got even the smallest of bruises. He welcomed this new challenge. "Let's dance, shall we?" He growled, his voice low.
-
Starley grinned lopsidedly, eyes narrowed, watching his every move. "Fine. I'll lead." She growled lowly in reply, wiping the blood off of the switchblade on her jeans.
-
"You're funny." Joseph lunged at her with his vampire speed, so fast, she would barely see him before he hit her. He was trying to knock her to the ground.
-
Starley grunted as she fell to the ground, quickly kick-standing and getting to her feet.
-
He appeared again behind her, and put a strangling arm around her throat.
-
Starley moved her head and bit his arm hard.
-
He inhaled sharply in pain, but didn't remove his arm. He tightened his grip on her, agitated.
-
Starley bit down harder, moving her hands and cussing sharply when she realized she'd dropped her switchblade. Oh well. She had another one somewhere...She just had to figure out where.
-
Joseph could feel the hunter's heartbeat against his arm. It was driving him crazy. He was so close... But if she stabbed him in the right place, he'd be out of commission. Permanately. So he waited for her to reveal all her weapons, conscious it could take a while. "You still going to kill me?" He asked, a bit of his excitment slipping into his voice.
-
Starley quickly picked up the excitement in his voice. She let her nervousness speed up her heart, causing it to beat even louder. And then she slammed her elbow hard into his ribs.
-
Her pulse quickening would have pushed him over the edge, but she elbowed him. He was so off-balanced fromed the closeness of the human, that he fell backward, blinking in confusion.
-
With one smooth movement, Starley had picked up the switchblade and was leaning over him, point of the knife pressed against his chest and her knees pressing his arms to the ground. "Top of the food chain, huh?"
-
Joseph remembered how to speak. "Never said we couldn't have faults."
-
"I guess you made a big mistake this time. But big mistakes...They always make the big difference." Starley said, running her free hand through her hair.
-
"Really? Like how?" He figured the longer he could keep her talking, the longer he had to live, the larger oppertunity for someone to come in and save him. But he knew the chances were slim.
-
Starley snorted, narrowing her eyes. But her pulse was still pounding. "I'm not stupid, blood-sucker."
-
"Then kill me." He growled, a smile on his lips. The challenge glowed in his eyes.
