  • "Do I get popcorn, too?" He asked jokingly, but he tensed, ready for anything.

  • "You sure?" He flashed out of site again and came back behind her. Joseph teasingly trailed his fingers along her neck. "Because I don't think you have a say in it."

  • He moved out of the way, but not before the knife connected painfully to his arm, narrowly missing his chest. "Ow!" He complained.

  • "Why do you like hurting vampires so much? It's mean." He growled.

  • "I'm higher up on the food chain." He thought for a moment. "Like you are all deer, and I'm a mountain lion. See, natural. It's the Circle of Life." He paused, then continued, his voice growing softer, more predatory, "And you're next on the menu, annoying hunter."

  • Starley couldn't help it, she was kind of nervous. But she didn't let it show. She just narrowed her eyes, tensing for whatever move he might make.

  • Joseph smiled. He knew she was nervous, he could sense it. He walked closer to her, tortuously slowly. "I'm going to eat you." He laughed darkly at his joke.

  • Starley allowed a twisted laugh to slip through her lips, automatically taking a few steps away from him. "I don't think that's possible, because I'm going to kill you first."

  • He flashed in front of her. "How will you manage that? I'm stronger than you, faster than you." He wanted to taunt her into revealing any hidden weapons. Then he would make the kill. Kind of like when a pride of lions hunts a gazelle. They tire it out, then move in for the kill.

  • Damn it, I'll have to try harder. He narrowed his eyes at her. Joseph flashed at her side and grabbed her wrist, twisting viscous.
