No dragon is more ferocious, or feared than the Monstrous Nightmare. This gigantic dragon has a long, snakelike neck and tail, and is covered in red scales and long sharp spines. The Nighmare's gigantic head and mouth can swallow Vikings whole. This dragon can attack any time of the day or night, from the air or on the ground. It is highly aggressive, and will never run from a fight. Its fire is thick and sticky, clinging to walls and running down hills like a flaming river. The Nightmare also has a nasty habit of setting itself on fire.

The Terrible Terror is among the smallest of the dragons, but also one of the most feared. It loosely resembles the Common or Garden Dragon and is roughly the size of a small cat. The Terror can crawl into Viking homes, sheds, outhouses and shacks, attacking when its prey is least expecting it. The only warning a Terror gives is the hissing sound it makes just before breathing fire. It is capable of such pinpoint accuracy with its flames that it can be considered the sniper of the dragon world. They also travel in garge groups, ranging from 20 to 40 in each group.

Typhoomerangs have a unique ability while flying: they spin (similar to a typhoon/boomerang) at high speeds, zooming through the air. Although, as they spin, they seem to scorch objects around them, making them extremely dangerous. The act leaves a distinctive burn mark on the ground below.

The Gronckle can be a slow, lazy, and cranky bulldog-like dragon; it has been known to fall asleep mid-flight, waking only when it plunges into the sea or crashes into a mountain.Because of its tremendous weight and small wings, it would seem impossible for them to fly. However, because the wings of a Gronckle beat at a speed similar to that of hummingbirds' or bees' wings, it is possible for one to sustain flight. In fact, a Gronckle can fly backward, sideways and even hover in place. Its tail can be mistaken for the head if little attention is paid. It is also prone to dragon acne. Because of its large stout body and clubbed tail, the Gronckle somewhat resembles an ankylosaur. They spend the majority of the day sleeping. It has huge jaws which it uses to hold food when carrying it to the dragon mound. It has a rather blunt nose horn and fairly stubby toe claws. Its legs are practically useless in battle, and due to its short tail it has a fairly small attack range.

Whispering Deaths are extremely deadly, like most other dragons, able to chew their victims after they are swallowed due to the many rows of rotating teeth. They tend to dwell in underground tunnels that they burrow themselves, often resurfacing to attack any oncoming enemy/prey. Whispering Deaths are also able to breathe rings of fire.

The Dragon Manual once stated that they were extremely dangerous and must be killed on sight. However despite the reputation, they love to have their teeth brushed.

Added by Toothless99over what to do. This dragon reminds some vikings of bickering siblings when they aren't running away from it. However, its two heads also give it a deadly weapon that is unique from any other dragon species. One of the dragon's heads breathes a green, flammable gas while the other head uses an electrical spark in its mouth to ignite the gas, creating lethal explosions. The Hideous Zippleback's spine has many bright red lobes that run down it. Occasionally the Zippleback will use these to hold it necks together, making it less intimidating. They have serrated fangs which they use to inject venom for predigestion. Its top teeth are much sharper and are all the same size, while its bottom teeth are very long and stick up above its jaw line.

They attract prey with a sweet smell of chocolate from their mouth. Like all dragons, they sheds their scales and talons, but they regrow. Snaptrappers love rain and will often splash in the mud.

In terms of behavior, the Deadly Nadder is fast and dangerous, though its potency as a hunter is hindered by the blind spot directly above its nose (possibly due to its large horn). As a result, the dragon relies on its keen sense of smell, often instead of its binocular vision, in order to find its prey. The Deadly Nadder also has at its disposal its tail spikes, which are used as projectiles to stun or immobilize its prey. Its most devastating trait, however, may well be its ability to blow magnesium-fueled flames, which can easily melt metal. The Deadly Nadder is also well-known for its vanity; it constantly grooms itself to stay clean and maintain the luster of its scales. Like the Night Fury, the Deadly Nadder is a picky eater whose diet comprises mostly of poultry. Unlike most other dragon species, however, it does not prey upon livestock, which causes it to become ill. Aside from the deadly predatorial characteristics, its behavior is similar to that of a chicken.

This dragon attacks from out of the sky, with its razor-sharp wings, and can slice through a forest of trees like a giant guillotine. It also have the ability to shoot hot, explosive embers. The Timberjack possesses no arms or legs, just merely its wings and long tail, but has been seen to stand up on its tail like a snake would. And those long wings make it impossible for the dragon to scratch its back.

However, it has been learned as a Dragon Training tip, that if you scratch any hard-to-reach places for it, the Timberjack will be your friend forever.

Scauldrons are a type of dragon that live exclusively underwater. This dragon has a large round body that is set atop four stubby legs. They cannot fly very well due to their small wings, but they are extremely effective swimmers.
Instead of breathing fire, Scauldrons have the ability to spray scalding (boiling) water at their victims instead of the usual dragon fire. This ability comes from sucking in seawater and then heating it in their massive, cauldron-like stomachs. One hit from that hot water will finish off most enemies. They are, like most of the dragons, classified as "extremely dangerous" in the Dragon Manual.

If you want to train a Scauldron, the best way to start is simply to cover yourself in water. Scauldrons are sentimental creatures who love anything that reminds them of home.

The Thunder Drum is the name of a species of dragon. The Thunder Drum do have feet, despite some people that think that they do not have legs.The Thunder Drum relies mostly on its two sets of wings, one primary and one smaller set to the rear, used to get around and move through the water like a tornado. The Thunder Drum is capable delivering a sonic blast of pure dragon power. When a Thunder Drum hatches from its eggshell, it makes a sound so loud it rattles the sky.
According to the Dragon Manual, Thunder Drums are roughly the same size as adult Vikings, and are reclusive in nature, living in sea caves and dark tide pools. The name comes from its main mode of attack/defense. When startled, they can produce a strong concussive sound that can kill a man (or woman) at close range.

The Changewing differs from other dragons through its use of spitting acid instead of fire to burn its victims. Even newly-hatched Changewings have the ability to spit acid onto any potential threat. The Changewing can disappear into any environment it touches or lays low in, making it one of the most difficult to find. Finding one takes a keen eye, as their scales can change color much like a chameleon's, and that their sharp spike like scales can almost mimic thorns or branches, making it the most perfect camoflauge for this Mystery Dragon. However, this gives it a disadvantage, as their skin is much more softer, making them much more vulnerable to attack, but gives them a strange way to protect themselves. They also somehow possess the ability to hypnotize with their eyes. Of which that is still unexplained as to how it's done.

Although the Dragon Manual stats they are vicious, these dragons are very curious creatures. And that they display mimicking behaviors; they'll mimic the movements of anyone or anything they see through visual contact. Basically, whatever they see, they love to copy.

The BoneKnapper is a species of dragon thought to be almost mythical by Vikings due to its rare nature. As its name may suggest, the BoneKnapper spends its time scouring the land for pieces of bone other in order to create the perfect armor. Sometimes, this bone armour can be essential for the dragon to perform basic actions, such as roaring.

The BoneKnapper will often go to extreme lengths to find the bones it seeks, hunting down the fragments for years. However, the dragon does has a docile side to its nature as well, as with most dragons around Berk.

The Night Fury is the rarest and most intelligent species of dragon. It is small to medium-sized with a sleek, dark body that is almost black. It sometimes appears bluish and has faint lighter patterns similar to that of a manta ray. The Night Fury resembles an axolotl in general appearance and has a pairs of wings, two ear-like appendages on the back of its head to show it's mood, a pair of yellowish-green, cat-like eyes and sharp retractable teeth. Unlike most dragon species, the Night Fury has a short neck and lacks any kind of horns. The Night Fury also seems to bear a striking resemblance to a gecko.

In flight, the Night Fury's wingspan is unrivaled, making it resemble some sort of jet plane. This allows it to fly faster, longer and further than any of the other dragon species. It uses the wing-like flaps on its tail to steer and maneuver, similar to an airplane rudder. As seen in the movie, a Night Fury will be incapable of flying if one of these flaps is missing or destroyed

It is said to be highly secretive and is known to ride lightning bolts like air torpedos to reach supersonic speeds, it usually only comes out during electrical storms, it can shoot bursts of white fire, and that it's entire body crackles with static electricity. Just being close to a Skrill is enough to make a person's hair stand on end.
