Nightkit sat in the nursery. She was almost ready to be an apprentice but friendless too. She needed someone to be with through apprenticeship.
Great adventure

Kettlepaw watched the camp restlessly. She was bored, and didn't really feel like trying to catch up with some patrol. Glancing at the Nursery, she spotted Nightkit. Purring, the feline bounced over to see the Kit. "Hey, Nightkit!"
-
"Hey," Nightkit mewled. She licked her jet black paw and looked up. As the gentle breeze stirred her fur she asked,"Isn't it almost time for the leader to come and name me?"
-
"I don't know." Kettlepaw admitted. She honestly didn't know what the Leader was up to today. "But I sure do hope you get a good mentor." Kettlepaw had never been given a mentor, yet.
-

Oceaneyes ambled into camp, humming absent-minded tunes to himself as he deposited a mouse- scrawny, he thought with a flash of annoyance, but no one ever said he was world's best hunter- and instead picked up a plump thrush for his dinner. Walking over to a sunlit patch of ground near the nursery, he settled down to his repast, enjoying the warm feeling of sun on his pure white fur and food settling in his belly. As he ate, his ears swiveled to follow the conversation of the kit and young apprentice. Half-smirking, half-smiling into his food, the warrior tom swallowed his mouthful and chuckled low in his chest.
"Do you wish the same for yourself, young one?" he laughed in a low, friendly drawl, sneaking a mischievous glance at the two young cats out of the corner of his bi-colored eyes. The deputy had been on him recently about doing something more useful than scaring kittypets and needling him. Perhaps an apprentice or two would be in order. One of these two might suffice, eventually. But the thought was lazy, only half-serious, hiding far more serious overtones than idle amusement at the thought of taking an apprentice. For now, he could see where this would take him.
-
Nightkit curled her tail. "I hope I get a good fighter or great hunter!" She then pounced on Kettlepaw's tail. She then noticed Oceaneyes. "Hi!"
-
Oceaneyes half-stifled a purr at the cheerful greeting. Despite all his sarcasm, he did have a small soft spot for kits. They were- though he'd never admit it- pretty darn cute.
"Hello, little one."
-
Nightkit padded up to Oceaneyes. She sat next to the mighty warrior. "Will you be my mentor?"
OOC: Sorry so unexpectant
-
The white tom felt a twinge in his heart at the innocent question, and quickly ignored it. This kit was surely too young to know why he, out of all the warriors in the clan, might have reservations about taking on an apprentice. It was no use snapping, and getting a queen called out to snarl at him in return. Besides, it was an innocent question.
"I've no plans to take on an apprentice... and you're only a kit yet. Until your name ends in '-paw,' you aren't ready."
-
Nightkit frowned but smiled again. "When I'm Nightpaw I'll ask the leader! My mom wants a good warrior I know to be my mentor!"
-
OOC; Sorry, homework

"Ask the-"
Oceaneyes paused for a moment, well and truly shocked, before breaking out into laughter. What kind of kits were the queens kitting these days! "Oh, that's good... Ask the leader yourself? You're just a little snip of fur, hardly grown yet! Your mother, maybe she'd be able to do something, but you? Ahaha... kittens." The last was said in a tirelessly amused voice, as if nothing could be funnier than uppity kits.
-
Nightkit gave a perplexed glance, then smiled widley. "Yeah!"
OOC: It's all right. -
Oceaneyes gave the kit and odd, sideways look.
"'Yeah'?" He asked, "'Yeah'... what?"
-
"Dunno." She shrugged.
-
This time, Oceaneyes rolled his eyes and sighed. "Kittens," he said again, this time in annoyance and resignation. Rising to his paws, he shook himself, gave a few quick licks to his shoulder to smooth the fur, and looked down his nose at the little kit, who he towered over by virtue of sheer size. Watching her for a moment quietly, the white tom snorted and shook his head, then turned and began to walk away. He'd things to do besides watch dozy kittens.
-
Nightkiy sarted to sway on her paws, then she closed her eyes. After a long while she still didn't open her eyes.
-
Shadowpaw looked across the clearing at Nightkit and smiled. He walked over. "Hey Nightkit...you know, you should be called NightPAW by now," He said.
-
Nightkit's eyes flew open to see Shadowpaw. "Hey there!" She answered in a husky voice.
-
"hi," Shadowpaw mewed.
-
"How's your day?" She asked, trotting around Shadowpaw. Soon, her trot sped up, then it became a slow dash. Gradually, a run, then a sprint. She whizzed around and around until she skidded on all fours. This made a little dirt pile. Nightpaw was still pushed by her sudden stop's force so she almost flipped over. She kept her left hindpaw firmly on the ground, but the force took over her. Nightpaw spun two circles in a blink of an eye before she collapsed on her back. Then after a few blinks, she stood up and shook her head. "Whoa... a little woozy here... and blurry there... and fuzzy..." She shook her head and blinked, looking at Shadowpaw. 'How's your day?"
