Squirrelfoot walked fowards, hoping her apprentice wasn't tired. They had a quite a long walk ahead of them. " Aurorapaw, do you know anything about Thunderclan's land? " she asked, continuing to walk. It was a perfect day to go walking. The sun was out, some clouds were in the sky, but it didn't look as if it would rain. She took in the scene, deciding which territory she would show, there were so many. But first, she would have to see how much and what her apprentice knew.

Aurorapaw followed her new mentor, excited. "I know...I know...Ooh! I know that it's covered with trees! And that there are foskes, too!" she said. She had though a fox was a 'fosk'. She was nearly bouncing at Squirrelfoot's side. "Is that right?" she asked.
-
Squirrelfoot wasn't surprised by her apprentice's answer. She was young, so she couldn't have known much. " Yes, but there is no such thing as a ' fosk' " she said gently. " It is called a ' fox ' and foxes live almost in all the clans " she said, again, gently. " And, you see, Thunderclan is indeed covered with trees, but Shadowclan is too ". She stopped and sat down, " We are in Thunderclan territorry now, but this place doesn't really have a name " she said.
-
"Oh, a fox!" she said, remembering how the others said it now that Squirrelfoot told her. She listened intently to her mentor. "Why doesn't it have a name?" she asked. She wanted to learn everything she would need to know and more. "And I heard Shadowclan have trees with pointy leaves, but I can't remember what they're called. Does Thunderclan have those?" she asked.
-
" The ' pointy trees ' are called 'Pine trees' and yes, we do have some. They are located in the plae we call Tallpines " she said. Her apprentice was eager to learn, she could tell. So, she decided to just talk today, maybe another time they could start hunting and tour the territory. Aurorapaw needed to learn more about Thunderclan before she could really start things anyway. " Well, this place is just general territory because it's not really...abnormal " she said. " It doesn't have any special things like, pine trees or water, or rocks. It's just trees, prey, and bushes " she said, hoping her apprentice understood.
-
"Oh!" Aurorapaw meowed. "So it doesn't have a name because nothing makes it special?" she asked. "That makes sense!" Or at least, I think it makes sense, she thought. "How big is the territory? she asked. "Is it really huge?" she inquired. "Or is it really little? I've never been outside camp before!" she exclaimed; even though the general territory didn't have any "special" features, it fascinated her as she gazed around.
-
" Well yes our territory, and other clans territorry is huge " she said. " Out of camp huh? Well, do you know where you went? " she asked, amused. " I hope you didn't get in any trouble though. Another thing you need to learn is loners and kitteypets. Do you know what those are? oh yes and the other clans too " she said. But she quickly changed her response, she didn't want her to be confused. " Sorry, we'll discuss that later..so tell me about you eing out of camp "
-
Aurorapaw looked confused. "I just said I've never been out of camp before," she replied. Then she laughed. "Do you have fur up your ears?" she said, but not in a mean or rude way. She kind of liked saying that; it sounded funny.
-
Squirrelfoot laughed. " I guess I do " she said, still laughing. " Okay, well, what do you want to learn? " she asked. Surely her apprentice had soo many questions to ask.
-
Aurorapaw laughed again. "Er....I don't know! Maybe...can I learn the hunters' crouch? Beechpaw was trying earlier, and I don't want to look like her when I do it in front of the other apprentices!" she mewed. She hoped her mentor would let her learn it; she didn't know today was supposed to be a 'talking' day. "She kept on stumbling. She almost rolled all the way over once, too!"
-
Squirrelfoot nodded. Talking all day couldn't have been fun for Aurorapaw, or her. " Alright..can you show me what you think is a hunting crouch? " she asked. " Or what you have so far ".
-
Aurorapaw crouched and tried to balance all her weight over her paws, and ended up with a quite lopsided crouch; she was putting too much weight on her right side. Her tail was low and skimming the floor, too. "Is this right?" she asked. She knew it probably wouldn't be, but what's the harm in her mentor confirming it? "Oh, wait," she said, and lifted her tail a little higher, remembering what Fallenpaw had said to Beechpaw in the apprentice den.
-
" Almost " she said, walking around Aurorpaw. " Yout tail is good, but you're putting too much weight on your right side" she said. " Oh, and if you are hunting, you always want to have your claws out " she said. " You want to be light on your feet to hunt, try it like this " she said showing her. Squirrlefoot's tail was up, her shoulder blades were equally centered, and her back was arhed a little bit. She was ready to pounce.
-
"Oh, okay," Aurorapaw replied, sitting up. She watched as Squirrelfoot showed her what to do. Still looking at her mentor, she visualised herself doing it. She crouched again, and raised her tail a little. She squared her shoulders and arched her back, but a little too high; her prey would probably notice her tail and her back sticking up that far. She was on the right track, though; her weight was finally distributed evenly throughout her four paws. She also blinked her bi-colored eyes and slid her claws out, like Squirrelfoot had told her to do. "Is this better?" she asked.
-
Squirrelfoot padded towards Aurorapaw. She put her paw on her bak, saying " Your back should be a little bit less arched, and your tail should be a little bit less high, that way your prey shouldn't be able to see you " she said. Squirrelfoot stood back a little. " Perfect " she said.
-
Aurorapaw watched as Squirrelfoot walked over to her and laid a paw on her back. She felt a little pressure and lowered her back a little as her mentor stated her flaws. She lowered her tail, too, until it wasn't too high but not brushing the ground, either. She smiled at Squirrelfoot's comment. "I did it right that time?" she asked happily. "I can't wait to show the other apprentices!" she crowed.
-
Squirrelfoot smiled. " I'm sure they'll be amazed " she said. " Do you want to try and catch something now? " she asked with a smirk.
-
"Oooh could I?" Aurorapaw squealed, literally bouncing on the tips of her paws now. "How do I do it?" she asked quickly.
-
" Well " she said sniffing the air " You need to sniff for the prey, then find it, but be quiet ". She looked down at her apprentice and said " Then go in your hunting crouch, and after that...kill it ".
-
Aurorapaw nodded her head vigorously. She raised her head and slightly parted her mouth, scenting the air. "I smell something familiar...right!" she exclaimed suddenly. "It smells like the mouse I ate earlier! Is that what mouse smells like?" she asked. She thought it was coming from a clump of ferns off to the side.
