Fox nodded her head in agreement. The colt had finished suckling, and was standing close to Fox, watching Storm's dad wearily.

Storm grinned and touched his muzzle to his son. "Don't worry, my son. This is your grandfather. He protected your mother while you were born." He said softly, looking up at his father. "Fox, we need a name for our son." He added, looking at his mate.

Fox snorted, and looked away. The colt nickered in reply.

He snorted. "I'm not naming him by myself!" He declared.

She groaned, flicking an ear. "I....uh....How about Darse?" She suggested.

The stallion smiled and looked down at his son. "Welcome to the world, Darse."

He let out a shrill whinny, before running over to Storm's dad. "Hello!" He nickered.

The stallion grinned and gave a nicker. "Hello, Darse," he said, looking the colt over.

Darse neighed, backing away, before running back to Fox. He nosed her belly, before beginning to suckle again.

The stallion smiled and shook his head before he began to graze.

Without warning, a mountain lion burst out of the undergrowth. It leapt onto Fox's back, yanking her to the ground. She let out a shrill whinny of fear as the lion sunk its teeth into her shoulder. Darse shrieked, rearing, and backing up.

The stallion bit into the mountain lion's fur and tossed it away from his mate before he got in front of his family, ears pinned against his skill.

She snorted, closing her eyes for a moment, breathing heavily. Darse went straight to Storm, huddling against him. The lion growled, hissing.

Storm carefully guided his son back toward his mother. "Darse, go stay with your mother!" He instructed as he turned back to the threat. "You'll be safer over there than you will be here." He added softly.

Darse frowned. "No! I wanna fight!" He whinnied, running at the lion. It hissed, and leapt on the colt, clamping its jaws on the foals throat.

he pushed his son out of the lion's reach. "NO!!! GO NOW!" He shrieked and stamped a hoof on one of the lion's paw. "You'll GET KILLED!!! GO!! HIDE, RIGHT NOW!!!" He shrieked once more. (again not fair. the colt's not minding his parents. disrespect XD)

The colt leapt to his hooves, coughing. He ran to Fox, who had stood by then, and nudged him close, backing away. The lion roared in pain, backing away.

Storm reared up, his hooves striking the air as he neighed fiercely, warning the lion away.

The lion turned, racing away.

He snorted and shook his head before looking at his son. "Do not do that again, Darse. Next time you see a mountain lion, just run!" He said, walking a little ways away to graze.
