  • Snowdancer dragged her paws forward another steep and gave each of her three kits a nudge with her nose. Ripplekit, Mosskit and Brookkit squeaked pitifully and collapsed in a small, furry pile. The white she-cat mewed in distress and tried nudge her kits to their paws, but they just groaned. Finally Snowdancer just curled herself around them and shook as darkness washed over her.

  • Spottednose was walking through the trees, hanging limply from her jaws was a brown mouse. She was heading to the camp when she stopped, catching four unknown scents on her nose. A hiss would escape her throat, her paws bringing her to the border. All anger dissapeared from her face when she saw the cat and her kits, helpless. A look of shock crossed her eyes, the cat bent down and nosed the mother with her speckled nose.

  • Snowdancer leapt to her paws, her white dur sticking up on end and a faint hiss coming from her maw. At the sight of the cat, she relaxed and swayed weakly. "Sorry," she whispered.

  • Spottednose barely flinched as the cat popped up, shaking her head. "It's fine." she said and looked around to see if anybody was watching. "Where are you from?" she queried, sitting down and dropping the mouse to her feet. She pushed it towards the cat, signaling she could have it if she chose to.

  • Snowdancer lay back down next to her kits and pulled the mouse slowly closer. She looked up "a long way away..." she murmured "we came from the beach, we are beach cats, my mother came from the mountains... but moved down to the beach..." Snowdancer was now panting and shaking.

  • "What happened?" asked Spottednose "There must be some reason you left." she finished. The black and white she-cat smiled, though concerned about what she was going to do with the mother and her small kits. It was just lucky the three had come here safely!

  • Snowdancer paused and looked at her trembling kits, she curled her tail around them. "Yes we did leave for a reason... Of course, rouges..." The white cat lowered her head "my entire clan was killed... My mother! My leader!" she wailed "My mate!"

  • "It's okay. You're safe here." she consoled her, eyeing the kits slightly. "You're in Thunderclan. If you didn't already know." she added, pointing her nose to Thunderclan territory.

  • "I see." nodded Spottednose "Are your kits okay? she asked, a flash of worry crossing her eyes. Again, she looked at the kits and tried to decide how old they might be. The journey must have tired them, they must be hungry too..

  • Snowdancer looked down, her eyes sad. "No..." she murmured "they are ill, hungry, weak, young and scared out of their minds..." a sob crept into the she-cats voice. "They are to young to even have left a nursery, but we have had to travel fast and rough, three of the rouges chased us for a quarter moon. Three fit toms chasing a little she-cat and her four young kits..." she laughed without humour. "One of my kits died..."

  • "Shall I go and hunt, for you?" she asked, flicking her tail towards the forest. Though she felt uneasy leaving them behind, she wasn't going to watch anybody starve to death. Surely. But maybe the kits didn't even drink milk, possibly they needed milk.

  • Snowdancer shrugged "if you want... the kits are hungry because I can't supply enough milk for them, because I am starving..." she trailed away, looking confused and hopeless.

  • Spottednose nodded, "I'll be back." she reassured and disappeared into the forest. She crouched down, already smelling a juicy vole. Her tail held above the grass, pacing forward gently on her haunches. She took one step before pouncing through the air, catching the critter under her paws and biting into it's neck killing it instantly. It would be enough to quench the cat's hunger for now, she thought. She walked back to the cat, dropping the vole. "Is this enough?"

  • Spottednose smiled, "You're welcome." she replied and sat down. Curling her tail around her body, yawning.

  • "What's wrong?" asked Spiderfang, tilting her head to the side in confusion. This.. cat she had just met. She seemed un- nerved, slightly.

  • Dawnflower, a rouge (Her whole clan was wiped out by a tidal wave) grasped her single surviving kit in her jaws and crouched in a bush. Starving and desperate, she eyed the mouse close to the white she-cat. She wasn't a mean cat or anything, she was just stricken with greif and hunger.
