The young she-wolf padded silently through the Moonlit Forest territory, her pack's home. She was a young fighter and hunter, the best in the pack, at least as far as her father was concerned. He'll never understand my longing... She thought, giving a small whimper as she glanced up at the moon that shone brightly over her, making her silver and white coat shine brightly. "I want a mate and pups, but my father always tells me otherwise. He can't rule my life forever." She barked, her gold eyes glimmering with fear. "But what if I do have pups? What will father say? Will he tell the entire pack that I went against the pack law? I mean, I am a lower rank than my father. He's always loved me, but he never truly understood." She thought outloud as she stopped to get a drink from a clear river that ran through the territory. She seemed so sad, so lonely...

  • Hawkwing was padding down through the water, letting the icy liquid numb his aching feet. He had been walking for ages trying to find a new pack. He had been exiled by his old pack for defending a lower ranking wolf. His hung his head to take a few laps of the crystal clean water.

  • Aurorasong

She lifted her head slightly, spotting the reflection of the male wolf a split second before she scented him. Her fur rose slightly off her shoulders and she gave a warning growl. "This is Moonlit Forest Pack territory." She barked, her voice not holding any hostility at all, only curiosity. Who is this strange wolf? she wondered, flicking her tongue over her muzzle as she kept her eyes on this wofl. "What is your name, stranger?" She barked again, her golden eyes not leaving this wolf. And what are you doing here? She thought, tilting her head to the side.

  • He lifted his head to look at her. His green eyes bore into her. "My name is Hawkwing. I am looking for a new pack. I was exiled for defending lower ranking wolf."

  • Aurorasong

She pricked her ears at this news. "What rank were you in your pack? Before you were exiled, I mean." She barked, letting her fur lay flat once more. Her paws tingled for an unknown reason as she held his green gaze.

  • Aurorasong

She gave an unexpected whimper and, with her ears flat, crouched down, as though she had been bitten. "My-My father's our Alpha's deputy...He basically told our Alpha, when me and my littermates were born, that he did not want me to be a beta, which is close to becoming the alpha's delta, which is the position my father holds now. When I became old enough to hang out with the other pups, father basically batted me away from the others and actually told me that I needed to learn my place. He loves me, I know that, but I've been stuck in this position for more than nine moons now and it's tiring." She barked, laying her head on her paws. "My littermates are all gone now. They left the pack to start their own...I haven't seen them for over three moons." She whimpered softly, staring at her reflection that shimmered in the river's clear water.

"All I want is my father's approval, but somehow I've never been able to get it. He knows I'm a good fighter and hunter. each time I hunt for the pack, I always seem to get a disapproving snarl from him than an approving smile. It's like I'm doing something wrong.." She closed her golden eyes as a few tears trickled down her face. She knew she would get a nip from her father when he found out about her talking to a strange wolf she only just met. I don't care anymore.

She looked up at him, her golden eyes glowing in the darkness. "He's been harder on me now more than ever since my mother died. And since he's next in line to become Alpha, none of the other young wolves dare to speak with me. They do, but they won't do anything to help me." She whimpered, dabbing a paw into the river's cool water. "I look more like my father than anything, with the same silver and white pelt. But I got my mother's golden eyes. Most of my littermates have hazel eyes and mother's pelt." She shook herself, trying to rid herself of the guilt she felt. "I've been alone nearly all my life. I'm actually pretty glad I met you, Hawkwing." She barked, her golden eyes looking into his green gaze. She felt safe in his presense and she didn't know why. It may be because my father's never let me open up to anyone about this. She thought, standing and stretching her legs.

"Well, I'd better hunt for my pack. I promised father I'd be back before sunrise." She woofed, looking up at the moon. "My pack thrives in the light from the moon. I was told it was because we draw strength from its light." She gave a laugh before she turned away from the river, crouching low, her nose scenting the ground for any prey-scents. "Say! Would you be interested in joining my pack? I know, it's usually the alpha's deputy who asks that, but I'm the daughter of a deputy." She woofed, raising her head to look at this wolf. "Moonlit Forest is the best place to be, in my opinion." Her ears pricked toward a sound in the bushes nearby. Crouching down, she slid silently over the ground, stopping about a few muzzle-lengths in front of the bush. Gathering her muscles, she sprang up into the air, jaw open wide as she crashed down behind the bushes.

A squeak was cut off by a vicious growl and then silence. The bush rustled and Aurorasong stepped out, a rabbit dangling from her jaw. Dropping it at her paws, she panted, giving her ear a small scratch with her left hind paw. "I'm Aurorasong, by the way." She woofed, giving a smile before she picked her catch up off the ground. "Follow me, Hawkwing." She mumbled around the fur in her mouth. She calmly padded through the territory, heading back to her pack's camp. Father will not like the fact I brought a stranger wolf into the pack, but he needs a pack. I'll just explain it to him. she thought, glancing back to make sure Hawkwing was following her.

She stopped at a clump of ferns that smelled strongly of wolves. Glancing at Hawkwing, she nodded her head toward the ferns. "Thith way." She woofed, her words mumbled by the rabbit she still carried. Silently, Aurorasong padded into the ferns, leading Hawkwing into the heart of her pack's territory. At the scent of fresh-kill, Midnightclaw lifted his head, his silver-and-white pelt shimmering in the moonlight. "Aurorasong, where have you been?" He barked as she set the rabbit on the pile. "I was hunting, father. And, I really hope you don't mind, but I've brought a wolf who has no pack now." Aurorasong turned her head toward the ferns and gave a soft whine. "Come on, Hawkwing. I want you to meet my father." She woofed, her voice low now that she was in the presence of her father.

Growling, Midnightclaw slid from the rock he had been laying on, his fur bushing up slightly, his hazel eyes glaring into the ferns, waiting for the wolf Aurorasong had brought. She knows better than to bring a stranger wolf into our territory! He snarled mentally, his head lowered slightly.

She looked up at her father, her golden eyes full of worry. "Hawkwing, this is my father, Mid..." He cut her off with a threatening growl, stepping toward the wolf, his hazel eyes burning as he shoved Aurorasong away from the wolf. "Silence!" He snapped at her before he turned his attention to the wolf, his own head held high, his heavy built body rippling with tense muscles. "I am Midnightclaw, deputy of the Moonlit Forest Pack. I am Aurorasong's father." Turning his gaze for a split second to his daughter, he barked harshly. "Why did you bring a stranger wolf to our territory, Aurorasong? I thought I taught you better than that!" Aurorasong laid down on the ground, her ears flat against her head and her tail between her legs. "I-I just thought..." Midnightclaw snarled at her. "That's your problem, Aurorasong! You always have to think! This wolf carries with him the scent of a rival pack!"

Aurorasong sat up, her ears still flat against her head but her eyes held defiance. "He was banished. Banished for protecting a lower ranking wolf." Midnightclaw growled and returned his gaze to this wolf. "I don't care if he was banished or not! No wolf has ever joined another pack once he leaves his birth pack. Ever!" Aurorasong growled and pushed her way in between Hawkwing and her father. "Listen to me, father. Hawkwing has done nothing to deserve your harsh tone!" Midnightclaw drew his lips back from his white fangs, his fur bristling now. "Get out of my way." Aurorasong lifted her head, her eyes darkening with defiance. "No! You have always looked down upon me ever since mother died! I'm sick of it!" Midnightclaw's entire body began to tremble as he growled. "I wanted what was best for you." She lowered her head, her teeth glinting in the moonlight as she stood there, arguing with her father.

"No you didn't! If you did, you wouldn't have forced me into the position of Omega!" She snarled, holding her father's hazel gaze. Midnightclaw put a paw down in front of him, like he was attempting to reason with his daughter. "I did that because I know Betas and Deltas go to battle!" Aurorasong narrowed her eyes. "I have been fighting, Father! You know this! I hunt and fight just like a higher ranking wolf would!" Midnightclaw stopped bristling and growling, his lips once more hiding his fangs. "All I wanted was for you to be proud of me, but all I ever got from you was a disapproving snarl, like I was doing something wrong!" Midnightclaw shook his head, his fur lying flat. "I did that because I knew you wanted pups!" Aurorasong shook her pelt. "You could have told me instead of snarling at me! If I want pups, there's nothing wrong with that!" She barked, causing her father to lower his head. "I'm sorry, Aurorasong.. I know I haven't been the father you wanted since your mother died." He turned and looked back at his daughter. "This Hawkwing can stay if he wants to." He woofed and walked away.

Aurorasong shook herself and looked at the wolf, her golden eyes troubled. "I'm sorry you had to see that, Hawkwing." She whimpered.

(and i'm sorry for an extremely long post XD)

  • OOC. Lol. I'm sorry for not responding. I just finished a math assessment.

IC: Hawkwing dipped his head in respect for her. "Fights between two family members are not uncommon." he woofed gently. His green eyes glittered gently. His large frame was relaxed. His ears were pricked, and his tail was sticking straight out.

  • (eh, you're fine :) Are you homeschooled? just curious hehe)

    Aurorasong

She nodded, her eyes staring after her father. "He's been over protective of me ever since mother died. That's the whole reason that we never speak anymore. When we do, we always end up fighting. It's like...he doesn't want to talk things out anymore." She whimpered, glancing up into Hawkwing's green eyes. "What pack were you apart of, anyway?" She asked, tilting her head in curiosity.

  • OOC: No. They gave us laptops in my school. :)

"I WAS part of Rushing River Tribe, an Indian pack on the river a few hundred miles from here." he woofed gently.

  • (aaahhhh that makes sense hehe. somewhat anyway XD I have my own laptop that I got for my birthday. It was my mom's hehe.)

    Aurorasong

She lifted her head and flicked her tail, obviously showing she had heard of that pack before. "I don't think it's right to banish a wolf just because they stick up for a lower ranking wolf." She woofed, looking up at the sky.

  • (meh...okay, my muse has just flattened to a pancake -_-)

    Aurorasong

She gave a yawn and padded toward her den, a cozy spot under several ferns, open to the moonlight somewhat. "Well, I'm going to go to sleep. I'll see you in the morning, Hawkwing." she woofed as she curled up in her nest of bracken.

  • OOC: lol

Hawkwing nodded and padded into the clearing. He howled to the night sky. His fur gleamed in the moonlight.
