Toby's lifeless body was draped across a fallen tree truck, his chest was ripped up with cougars claw marks. A young mare stood hunched over him, her expression unreadable. She nuzzled the bloody colt, her eyes stricken with pain. "Wake up!" she ordered him softly, giving him a hard bump. "First your father now you!" she whinnied to the sky. "Why does everyone I love keep getting ripped away? Why?!" Moon began digging a hole with her hoof, then dragged Toby to the lake to wash off his wounds. She then proceeded to bury him.
Moon's foal was just killed! Maybe a handsome stallion would cheer her up...?

Shadow heard a cougar and a short cry. Instinct told him to run, but ignored it and ran to were he heard the cougar. He saw a young mare hunched over a foal's body. He narrowed his eyes and ran after the cougar. The cougar growled and lunged at him. He snorted and bucked to cougar off his back. He ran over and stomped on the cougar and soon the twitching of the cougar stopped. It was dead. Quickly, he ran back to the mare looked at her,"Are you okay?"

Skull, a large black fresian stared at the trees. Mist cloaked the tops as he caught the last glimpse of the sun rising above the forest. Lifting himself to his hooves, the sun flickered across his dazzeling figure. He suddenly stiffened, feeling sadness in the air as his nose pinched, sencing for the source. He strided forward and began to gallop toward the two horses, earss flattened wearily

Moon looked up. "No...." she whinnied the reply. "No not really..."

Shadow leaned over and nudged the foal. Dead."I'm sorry I wasn't here sooner. He would still be alive then."
-
Skull trotted over, "Whats wrong?" he asked, his voice was low and deep

Moon stared back at the two stallions, her chocolate colored eyes two brown pools of pain. "It's okay," she whinnied to Shadow. "it's not your fault. Entirely mine." she turned to skull. "My foal. Cougars..." her words were carried off into the wind. Moons black mane rustled as a breeze blew by.
