"Really?" asked Letterkit, looking at his mother, then to Echokit, and back again. "But then.. how long would it take to get there?"

Conquestkit returned the hard stare, he wasn't intimidated if that's what the tom was trying to do. As he spoke though Conqueskit had to work to keep his emotionless stare. Why did he need to know about his past and who his was? That wasn't any of his concern. So instead he turned his gaze to the other kits, trying to see what they were talking to their mother about.
-
Echokit gulped, was Letterkit coming on too strong? Or was he being subtle enough? Then her vace vell when she heard her mother's response.
"Be more specivic hun, theres multiple clans.. Ov varying distances. Which one are you talking about?" Eastpaw asked gently.
-
Letterkit pawed at the ground, pretending to dislodge a rock from the earth. "Oh.. like, you know," he meowed, adopting the pretense of thinking about it, "I guess, like DarkClan? And BloodClan? I heard that they lived near the city of something..." He gave a small shrug, focusing on the dusty rock he had uncovered.

The tom let out an exasperated sigh, but swiped out his tail to cut off the tom's view. "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. I have to go see Scarredstar sometime in the future to acknowledge my return, and I can always ask him what the deal is." Hawktalon didn't want to be rude to the kit, but he was curious - and he wasn't going to let some loner remain in the camp, perhaps confused and out of place, without someone to keep an eye on him.
Once Eastpaw's kits became apprentice's, they'd be busy. Conquestkit likely wouldn't get his apprentice name for awhile, leaving him behind. Everyone was busy, and the kit would likely be forgotten in the nursery. Hawktalon wanted to make sure he knew what he was doing before that happened. "I don't mean to be a pest, Conquestkit. I just want to help you out if you need it."
Tuned out of the other conversation, the tom turned to look at Eastpaw's mischievous daughter, Echokit, and he swished his tail in her direction. "Get outta here, you! Eavesdropping isn't good - what has your mother been teaching you?"
-
Echokit let out a light hiss at him, swatted - no claws - at his tail and darted over to Letterkit's side. She had heard one thing. Conquestkit wasnt vrom Windclan. Well neither am I.. Thats really interesting!! She wanted to see iv they had anything else in common.
Eastpaw raised her eyebrow when Echokit hissed and Hawktalon said something to her. "Um.. well those two are a bit varther than the main clans. Bloodclan would have to be. Iv it was close there would be vighting all the time. Its like on top ov a mountain or something.. But Darkclan? I dont realy know where that one is.."
-
Conqueskit flattened his ears, this tom knew nothing. The kit was nearly 6 moons old, besides he wouldn't be here much longer. His mother had finally returned and his father had agreed they had been here long enough, Whisperkit was better. Still this tom didn't have to know any of that, nobody did.. except for Meadowsoul since she had acted like his mother while his was away. He shot a glare at the tom, feeling threatened and bothered. H epushed himself to his paws and turned around without a word to anyone. Taking a few steps in the next direction, he was done here.
-
Hopekit hissed at Hawktalon. "Look what you did!" She meowed angrily. "You made him mad, and now he's leaving!" SHe didn't want Conquestkit to leave, she wanted a new friend to play with.
-

The tom sighed. "I'm sorry, Conquestkit." He said with open honesty. He hadn't meant to make him upset, but perhaps the tomkit didn't want to be there anyway; he had seemed rather awkward before. "Wherever you go, may StarClan guide your way."
Cool aqua eyes smouldered when he heard Hopekit's remark. Hawktalon coolled quickly before he turned on her. "If he wants to leave, that's his choice. Besides, there's plenty of other kits who'd be willing to play with you, and you always have your six other siblings, if you're worried about friends."
-
Letterkit tilted his head, confused now. "But.. everyone said BloodClan was in the city!" he exclaimed, exasperation inching into his voice, though only a slight note. "How can it be on a mountain then?"
-
Hopekit glared again at Hawktalon, flicking her ears at Letterkit's remark. He had no right to choose her friends, and playing with her siblings wasn't the same. He would never understand how she felt.
-

The tom had always considered himself to be strong - he had never leaned on anybody, and never needed anyone's support. Yet, the glare he caught Hopekit giving him hurt him deep inside; it was like she hated him. He didn't like that; he had been there when she had been born, watching her squirm around with her eyes closed, being a little bundle of fur. He turned his gaze from her awkwardly, trying not to let the hurt show. Instead, he focused his eyes on Eastpaw and tried to figure out what her and Letterkit was talking about.
'Maybe this was a mistake,' he thought coldly. 'Maybe coming to see the kits was a huge mistake. Maybe coming back to WindClan at all was silly.'
-
Conquestkit's ear flicked as he heard Hopekit's remark. Did she really not want him to leave? He slowed a bit, but made no response to Hawktalon's apology or comment. He didn't even know what Starclan was! It wasn't until he emphasized the 'willing' part that Conquestkit whiped around. For one of the first time's in his young life, anger burned in the tom. He bit his tongue hard so as not to shout the things he wanted to at the warrior. He wasn't on to really expression his feelings anyways. He sned send him a glare though, one built up with all the things he felt.
-
Echokit tilted her head at Letterkit, how did he know that? She hadnt heard much about Bloodclan.. She vrowned when she looked over at Hawktalon, Hopekit and Conquestkit. "Stop being mean Hopekit. Hawktalon is basically like our dad."
Eastpaw looked convused this time. "Not bevore.. We went to their camp.. it wasnt anywhere near a city."
-
"You did?" asked Letterkit, jumping up. He looked at his mother, excited. "How far was it then?"
-

The brown tom was pretty much fine with Hopekit's behavior, because while Echokit tried to defend him, the truth was he hadn't been a very good father to any of them. And it was time he owned up to that, even if he didn't tell them that he was going to be a father of his own kits soon. "I reckon the trip took at least three nights, if not more." He said, glancing at Eastpaw. "Does that sound about right to you, Eastpaw?"
-
Eastpaw shrugged, "I really do not remember.. I was in pain.. So much pain.. And I had some sickness."
Echokit vrowned, she didnt like it how Hawktalon didnt seem to pleased with her reply.'
-
"You were sick, Mom?" asked Letterkit, gazing up at Eastpaw.
-
Well thats not all I was.. She thought morbidly to herselv, taking a glance at her partial tail. "Yeah.. like deathly sick."

"That's why we're both worried about you guys," Hawktalon stated, giving Hopekit a small but not threatening glare for her remark about him thinking they would die during their apprentice training. "She gave birth to you guys while she was sick, and not just that. Having eigh- seven kits is a lot of strain on a she-cat, so being sick weakened her a lot. It also weakened you guys."
