Alice smiled at her brother, and she looked up at the sky.

Aegis sat down beside his sister. "Ready for another day?" he asked her quietly, not wanting to disturb the still morning. This was the best thing about waking up early -- he didn't have any loud noises banging in his head. It was silent and peaceful, something that the red tabby enjoyed when he could.
{gotta go to bed, see you tomorrow :3}
-
ooc; My rabbit's dead... </3
"Yep.. Do you think we'll ever get back home?" Alice asked, slightly worried.
-
{how terrible :c I'm so sorry!}
Aegis hesitated for a moment. In truth, they no longer had a home, long gone as it was. He wasn't about to tell his sister that, especially in light of her recent... issues. "Of course we will return," he soothed. Hoping to hell it was true, the red tabby sit down and gave his chest fur a few self-conscious licks.
-
Alice smiled slightly and she stretched again before licking her paws and washing her head. "Ready to go?" She mewed, her ears twitching slightly as she heard strange noises.
-
Aegis shook out his long pelt as he stood, jaws stretching wide in a yawn. "Ready when you are," he meowed. "As you're going to be hunting on the go, try to get a few smaller creatures. It is rather difficult to drag rabbits for a long time."
-
Alice nodded and she started walking slowly. She froze as her eyes slitted in fear. The same growl that had spooked her last night sounded again and her ears flattened.
-
Aegis walked several paces past Alive before noticing that she had stopped. "Sister?" he asked, turning around. "Are you all right? Is everything okay?"
-
"I-It's back.." Alice stuttered. Her sanity clearly drifted away as the growl got louder.
-
Aegis glanced around nervously. He didn't hear or see anything, but he wasn't about to disagree with Alice. "Come on, sister," he meowed, trying to sound calm. "We can rest soon enough. Just keep moving."
-
Alice shrieked, seeing a figure. She tugged on Aegis's scruff tightly. "I-It's coming!"
-
Aegis glanced around wildly. "What is coming?" he asked her, his voice betraying a hint of nervousness. He draped his tail over his sister's shoulders and attempted to draw her closer to a tree trunk, hoping it would provide comfort and security.
-
Frustrated hisses escaped her throat. "It!"
-
Aegis closed his eyes for a brief second to try and clear his mind. Obviously, Alice was the only one who could sense this being, unless he was utterly brain-dead. Deciding that her safety was better than getting to the bottom of her confusion, he attempted to sink his teeth into her scruff so he could haul her into a nice little niche or something.
-
Alice whined and she tried pulling away from her brother's grasp. She sank her claws into the earth and she tried pulling herself away.
-
Aegis released Alice, not wanting to hurt her. "Come on, sister," he coaxed. "Let's go over to that tree over there--" here he gestured with his tail towards a thick oak-- "and we will be safe from the creature."
-
Alice started panicking as the creature got closer and she tried pulling Aegis to the thick oak.
-
Aegis trotted after Alice, biting his lip. He didn't sense this terrifying beast at all, and that scared him more than it would if he had been able to see it. The red tabby glanced over his shoulder to see only the forest, the same as it had been before.
-
Alice curled up infront of Aegis as if she were going to fight the creature to protect her brother.
-
Aegis carefully stepped over his sister until he was practically shielding her with his body, though he knew that what she saw was in her mind and not physical. Nevertheless, he wanted to protect her from it. Alice's health, especially in her mind, was one of the most important and temperamental things about her.
