    [align=center][font=georgia]The nurse nodded and smiled. "Don't forget to thank yourself." she added, then got up and out of her seat to organize some medical items in her cupboard.


    By the time Riley woke up, it was after dark. School ended at 3:45, and it was 7:30 now. Her eyes slowly fluttered open to see the ceiling's lights blaring down on her. She had bandages wrapped around her torso, so it felt weird for her waking up with that around her. She had shorts on, but she had shoved the covers off in her sleep, and only the bandages were covering her chest and stomach. Her head tilted to the side to see Shane sitting there.

    Shane had been staring off into space, his mind lost in his thoughts. He wouldn't of noticed Riley if he hasn't thought to check on her. "Riley!", he jumped with a smile to see that she was up. He blushed after realizing she wasn't wearing much but tried not to pay much attention to that...he tried and failed horribly. His eyes were sleepy and he had even fell asleep himself earlier. He touched her cheek and smiled, "I'm so glad you're awake."

    [align=center][font=georgia]Riley quickly snagged the sheets and covered herself. Her face was coated in a bright red, refusing to look him in the eye. "What happened? Gah! Erm.... You stayed with me? Why didnt you leave? What time is it?" she asked him, sounding like she was in a hurry.

    Shane blushed deeper and covered his face before standing up and pacing the room. He made extra care not to look in Riley's direction. "I took you here...than the nurse tended to you....I didn't want you to be alone when you woke up...so I um waited. Time? Um." He looked at his wrist but there was no watch. "Whoops." He looked at the clock on the wall and read. "About 7:30..." He tried relaxing but he still felt like he was rambling on and on.

    [align=center][font=georgia]Riley finally looked over at him, but didn't meet his gaze with her own. When he said the time, she practically jumped out of the bed. "7:30?!" she almost yelled. "Gah--eh, can you do me a favor and close your eyes?" she said. Under the covers, she had a knife and was cutting her sock in to a strip of cloth. She had a trick up her sleeve to get out of here quickly, since she would be in deep trouble if she were late...
    Before he could even talk, she hopped out of bed and wrapped the strip of sock around his eyes. "Shane, don't squirm." was all she said before picking him up and running through the school doors. The thing was, she was running so quickly that it probably took his breath away. In less than a minute, she was jumping through trees in the nearby forest. They arrived at some kind of treehouse. She set him inside on one of the seats, taking off his blindfold.
    Riley's eyes almost pierced in to his as she looked him in the eye and said, "Shane, stay here. If you here anyone coming, just hide and lay low." she almost growled the words and walked towards the door. She stopped at the edge of the treehouse's small outer porch and said, "Don't tell anyone at school that I took you here." she closed her eyes for a moment and thought of what was going to happen, the moonlight bouncing off of her skin and bandages, then in seconds she had jumped down on to the forest floor and dashed away.

    Everything happened so fast. Shane didn't even have time to comprehend what was going on. How did she move so fast? Who was she? What exactly had he gotten himself into? "W-wait!", he yelled. He moved to the edge and looked in the direction he had last seen her, but she was no where to be found. "What the hell..." He started to follow after her but remembered her warning. Does she just want me to stay here...? I don't even know where I am anyway. He thought he heard a sound in the distance but figured it was his mind playing tricks on him. He went back inside and paced around. "None of this is making any sense," he mumbled.

    [align=center][font=georgia]Riley had arrived at her destination. There were men in coats that covered their body like a robe and had these matching hats on their heads. "Where have you been, Riley?" one of the men said to her in a low voice. "I apologize, sir. I ran in to some trouble toda-" "There are no excuses. Come closer." the one to the very right said. Riley did so, and the man lifted his two fingers and touched her forehead. Riley's jaw clenched as she did her best not to scream. "I have shortened your chakra by 80%." he told her, and she nodded, her head slightly woozy. "This is your punishment for not being here on time. Now leave!" the middle one said, and she did so... but she could only run at a normal speed.


    Meanwhile, back at the treehouse, there were candles lit for light for Shane to see through the dark. There wasn't anything out of place in the entire place except for one thing--the picture of Shane that was on her desk. It looked like it was going to fall off the desk. All of a sudden, some sounds that sounded at the bottom of the tree were slowly getting louder. "Sensei, is this where Riley lives?" "Hush, Peter! You need to be more quiet like Jay." the voices said. Then, all of a sudden, a sound of a knife slicing through the air sounded as a knife hit the tree. "Ah! Riley, what was that for?!" "Peter, just shut up. Sensei, what's going on?" Riley's voice was saying. "We just came to check up on you, since you weren't at practice with us today." sensei told her. "I'm fine, Lord Hokage punished me and reduced my chakra, but I'll be fine. I'll see you tomorrow." Riley spoke quickly, practically shoving them away from the treehouse.


    After the three walked away, she went up the treehouse and stood at the doorway to make sure Shane was there. "I'm sorry." was all she said as she stepped forward, sliding four kunai that she had in her hand (that's a type of knife) out of the small pouch on her side and flung it at the photo of Shane on the table, trying to hit at least his face so that Shane didn't see the photo.


    She sat down on the floor next to him and set her elbows on her knees with her hands together. "To start out, I'm not normal." she said slowly, her eyes watching Shane out of the corner of her eye. "And... I have no parents... or siblings. Or a house. Or a job." she crossed her legs silently.

    Shane stood up as Riley entered the room. He looked at the strange knives she threw and didn't understand why she had thrown it at the photo. When it hit it's target he just sat down amazed. He didn't utter a single word until the silence became unbearable. What she was saying didn't make any sense. He took a breath and tried to speak calmly. "What do you mean by not normal? And I'm sorry Riley but what does that have to with this place? And why am I here. We got here extremely fast...please never do that again. And that picture," he glanced back at it, "Why did you throw a knife at it? Speaking of that why do you have a knife? And I'm rambling again...sorry about the question overload. I'll sbut up now." He put his hands on his head and looked down.

    Riley just looked at him. "That's alright. Well, I just have to say that this is my house. The reason why I brought you here because I didn't want to leave you at the school by yourself." she said, then got up to go to the photo. She pried the knives from the desk, then put the photo in one of the drawers. "These knives are my kunai." she said. "And, that photo..." her face grew red. "Ignore that." she then slid the knives in to her pouch. "You may not believe me, but the running I did to get you here was because..." her feet fidgeted as she looked at the ground, "I'm a ninja."

    (Haha! It's fine XD *faints from knowledge you have hundreds of episodes leftt* Hehe. Don't worry about it XD)


    "Ninja...you've gotta be kidding, Riley. I don't even think ninja exist anymore." Shane looked down. "You sure live in a strange place," he stated. He raised his eyebrow even higher at her, "Ooookay. I'm ignoring the photo." As he started to think he couldn't deny the fact that they had gotten here extremely fast. Maybe...there was a possibility Riley was telling something close to the truth. Shane thought this was crazy, for a moment he wished he was back home instead of with the girl he had bumped into, in the hall. He ran his fingers through his hair and mumbled, "I can't believe this..."

    [align=center][font=georgia]"I've lived here since I was twelve. And the ninja part...That's why I always stay hidden in classes. I've always laid low, since I know if someone got close to me, they'd figure this out and think I'm a freak."Riley thought for a moment. "Shane, what if you stayed over tonight and tomorrow I prove to you that I am a ninja?" her voice had a hint of doubt in it, but it was Friday, so it was worth a try.

    Shane's head was spinning but he managed to comprehend what Riley had said to him. "Stay here with you?" He thought about and a light pink dusted his cheeks as he looked up at her. "I-I guess I could. Mom and dad shouldn't care...I bet they hardly notice I'm gone." His voice had a hint of self-pity that he quickly got rid of. "Okay, I'll give you one day to prove to me that this is all true...and that's it."

    [align=center][font=georgia]Riley couldn't help it but smile at him. "Alright, one day it is." she said with a slight nod. She walked over to where her bed was. "You can sleep in my bed tonight, I'm going to sleep outside." she told him, pulling back the covers for him.

    Shane smiled back at her without even thinking about it. He walked over to her. "That isn't fair for you to sleep outside when I'm inside... I don't mind you can sleep here and I'll sleep on the ground...or something." He would've suggested they sleep together but he could only imagine the things she might start thinking about him.

    [align=center][font=georgia]Riley shrugged. "I hate these floorboards and I know you will too. I can sleep outside, since I'm used to it, but it is unusually cold outside. Since it's come to that, eh..." she looked down, her face turning red.

    Shane looked at her face and covered his mouth to hide his laughter. Guess they both were thinking the same thing. He finished her sentence, "Since it's come to that...we can share it then?"

    [align=center][font=georgia]Riley nodded. "Yeah." she said, then got under the covers. She then looked at him with her eyes beating down at him. "Touch any part of me and you're dead." she practically growled, then turned to the wall and closed her eyes. It was obvious that she was blushing, but she tried to hide it.

    "I-I won't. No need for any violence." He held up his hands in defense and got under the covers beside her. He felt as if she was so close he could feel the warmth. He was blushing just as badly as her but had to smile at the situation. "I won't touch any part of you...aside from this." He poked her cheek before turning his back on her and closing his eyes. "Night."

    [align=center][font=georgia]Riley chuckled when he touched her cheek, it was a decent enough joke to be amused. "Good night." she said, closing her eyes in silence.


    Around five o'clock in the morning, her eyes snapped open. Shane's arm was around her, but it was obvious that he was a thrasher when it came to sleeping. She was too, but not as much. She squirmed herself below the covers and out of Shane's grasp, then hopped off of the bed and on to the floor. She walked out the door and jumped on to one of the trees. She took out her kunai and took a strike at the tree, then retrieved it and backed up.


    She continued to throw knives, and at the same time, she sparred with an invisible opponent. She was doing this until seven o'clock. She decided it was time for a break, so she climbed the tree to find a sturdy branch that was as high as the tree house. She sat and watched Shane, waiting for him to wake up.

    Surprisingly enough, Shane had a restful night's sleep. Somewhere in the night he had subconsciously rolled over and held Riley close to him. In the morning he felt his sleeping position being disturbed but was too groggy to wake up. Rather he shifted positions and soon returned to his deep sleep. He slept like this for a while, in a special dream.


    Somewhere around seven-thirty his eyes opened up. Staring at the ceiling he was utterly confused for a few moments. "Where the hell am I?" He turned his head to the side and saw Riley watching him. All at once he remembered. He blushed and sat upright quickly. "If you were waiting for me you could've just woken me you know," he muttered mostly for his own sake. Shane was used to sleeping until noon, he didn't feel as if his body was fully functioning. "What time is it? It feels...early." Shane grimaced and swung his legs over the side of the bed, making care not to look into Riley's eyes directly.
