Finishing up her grooming Orchidblood joined her older sister in the shade. Just to relax.

Shinepaw, distracted by Fireflight's news, was focusing on his mentor and didn't notice Wonderkit exploring. Fireflight flashed a shadow of his usual grin. "Go be a kit." He nudged his young friend, and Shinepaw laughed and skipped down to the water. "Okay Firekit! But you're not going to be able to call me Shinepaw much longer. I'm going to be a warrior soon!" He laughed, clearly pleased. Fireflight smiled after him, and went to sit with Orchidblood, Koisplash and Rosemary an untangle his rather messy long red fur. "Been better, but it's best not to dwell on the past. Well - this is more like it after the Leafbare we had. Warm weather and blue skies far as the eye can see." He blinked his golden eyes in a relaxed fashion.
-
"Doing great." Rosemary meowed. Okay. "I'm pregnant." She added tentatively.
-
"Woah! Congratulations!" Fireflight's broad face showed his surprises, whiskers twitching and eyes getting just a little larger. He opened his jaw to ask about the father, then shut it again. Never knew these days if that would be a sensitive issue. "Remember to go and see Ambrosiaflare for some borage soon then." He sounded like an old hand of a father. Funny to think with all the time he spent in the nursery around other cat's kits his own were growing up without him. But he had mentioned the medicine cat without meaning two and had to swallow a large lump in his throat. She hadn't spoken to him since discovered about his Thunderclan apprentice-age kits.
-
Troubledkit swatted at her uncle's tail. "Really? A warrior? A wonder what your name will be . . ."
-
"Congratulations Rosemary!" Orchidblood purred. "Who's the father?"
-
"Bluemanna." Rosemary meowed, wrapping her tail around her paws. It hadn't been the best affair in the world. It'd been really awkward. But she'd had kits before. She couldn't help but love the little things.
-
"I've never met him! Where is he?" said Orchidblood. "I'd love to meet him. Are you moving into our family nest...network...cluster of nests thing?" She smiled. She hoped so.
-
"Yay!" Firekit mewed splashing at Shinepaw.
-
OOC:Oh....since I can be on for a little while........help me catch up?XD because my temp adoption thread seriously failed......:(
IC:Hailkit smiled at Firekit. "What do you want to do now? Now that I'm better?"
OOC:Sorrry if my post is akward.....XD
-
ooc: NP and wb!! Not much has happened. The kits have been playing and Rosemary just came over with news that she's pregnant. Shinepaw also returned with those other kits.
ic: Orchidblood just enjoyed the shade, and, in spite of disliking being wet, actually did enjoy the cool down that it brought her.
-
"Warrior's den- unless he's out hunting. I'll bring him by the nursery later." This was going to be awkward. Rosemary liked Bluemanna as a friend- but not much more. She had her reasons for asking him for kits- all of which she was ashamed of. She just wasn't quite ready to put the charade forth. "And yah, I'll be moving in with you guys."
-
"That's great, can't wait till the kits arrive." Orchidblood thought of that. Kits. She'd already been in season more than once, but failed to find that special tom and so had avoided males during those periods, knowing well that her own hormones might have betrayed her otherwise.
-
Shinepaw gasped in surprise as he got splashed, but then he willingly paddled with own forepaws. "Just you wait kiddo!" He laughed, splashing back.
Fireflight looked on, falling quiet now as he kept an eye on everyone. A red ear flickered slightly, and be began to get a strange sinking feeling in his stomach. At first he thought he was imagining it but he soon became aware his instincts told him that something was wrong. He just had no idea what.
-
ooc: Nothing much they're down by the stream playing splash games with Shinepaw.
ic: Firekit squealed happily and began splashing at Shinepaw trying to get the old apprentice wet.
-
Orchidblood remained in the shade, sensed alert, but not too alert. They had a decent view around and nothing seemed amiss to her. She sat quiet and dark, content to watch her younger cousins splash around.
-
Troubledkit, who had given up on defeating Shinepaw's tail, padded over to the friendly red tom who often visited the nursery, though he had no kits that she knew of. "Fireflight, what's wrong?" asked the young she-kit, head cocked to the side as she noticed his distressed expression.
-
Orchidblood didn't ask. She assumed it was probably because of Lunecry's absence or maybe the mysterious lack of presence of Rosemary's mate--or at least, the father of her kits. She lay on the rocks with her tail twitching.
-
Shinepaw was getting the worst of this splashing game, possibly because of of his shyness around water, not his favourite median. Coughing and wiping his eyes, we called for his young relatives. "Hey, why am I loosing here? Troubledkit, Cherrykit, Wonderkit, come help me out!" he laughed, shaking water from his ears.
Fireflight reached out a huge paw, gentle despite all his great size, and placed it on Troublekit's head. "I... don't know..." He replied with a slightly distant hint to his voice and in his eyes. It was only when Shinepaw called for the kits he clicked. "Wonderkit, Cherrykit - where are they?" He was on his paws in an instant, the troubled look replaced by one of real worry. They were only ten weeks old, and memories of Easternpaw fighting the current of a large stream, Magmakit with a fox snapping at him, Hailstone's screams as a badger broke the defenses of camp, all danced through his memories. There was no end of trouble out there for young kits!
-
"They're missing?" Orchidblood shot to her feet and leapt back across the stones to arrive at Shinepaw's side. "Where'd they go? They were just here!"
The stream was very shallow, and gentle. She glanced in there anyway.
