  • Dustfur let himself fall from the she-cat's jaws to the springy grass of the moorland. He sighed, and looked at Cloudsky, his dark blue eyes quiet. "I used to be in a Clan known as GoldenClan.... I was there deputy, you see..."he began, but trailed off, a small sob slipping past his clenched white teeth.

  • Cloudsong watched Dustfur, and nodded. She wanted to know and she paid very much attention to his words. She saw him struggling, and she moved her tail so it were around the tom again, like she had it in camp. "What happened?" She tried to look him in the eyes but she found herself trying not to look at him, it was hard for her any cat like that. She meowed gently, "You don't have to tell me if its too hard."

  • Dustfur gave a shakey breath, knowing her tail was around his frame. It reminded him of his fallen clan, and his claws sank deep into the ground. "I am strong... I will tell."He meowed, dark blue eyes focusing in on some unseen moorland/forest from a place long forgotten. "I was Deputy of a clan similar tou your Thunder and Wind Clan, but it was called GoldenClan. Lately we had been thriving, but it was greenleaf, and we where very prone to fires in our home. The last moon of our existance, we been rampaged by the most fires we've ever seen. The last one was massive... it filled the sky with black smoke and rained ashes on our ground. Soon it engulfed our moorlands and turned our forest to ruins. finally it came to our camp, and we couldn't even stop parts of the fire... Our warriors and leader had all began to die of the smoke and flames, no matter how hard i tried to save them. The medicine cat and the rest of the clan had died, all but me. Or so I thought. I remembered my mate, a beautifull sleek orange tabby she-cat who was expecting my kits. I checked the nursery and found my lover coughing as she lie in her nest. i ran to her and ragged her by the scruff, despite her raging protest about her wanting to go down in the fire with her clan and our kits, insisting i live on in honor of the clan. I had not listened to her entirely until she twisted from my jaws and clawed my eye, giving me my scar. She told me to go, to get out, to live on in honor of the clan and their story of the end. I obeyed, knowing she'd never forgive me if i didn't, and ran out into the ash-remnants of the home i once lived in. I turned around and looked into the flames where i'd let my mate stay. I kept hearing her dying screams, unable to run, or look away. I see her rear up in the fire, burning and bloody as she screams my name for the last time on her dying breath just before she falls back into the flames, dead."He tells his story with horrid grief in is eyes, the memory still raw in his mind, even after all his traveling.

  • Cloudsong's eyes were wide with horror during the story. Compared to that, her life had been that of a kittypet! "I-I'm so sorry..." Her voice shook, she couldn't imagine being in that position. "I can understand the feeling though, our territory was burned by Bloodclan." She looked over towards the charred grasses that lay just over the edge of the moor. She grew tense imagining the grisly scene that Dustfur had painted. Love was something tough, and she knew how much cats loved their mates and unborn and born kits. It was hard for her to grasp her mind on the fact that one cat could lose it all so fast, it really made her think about her life.

  • Dustfur twitched, trying to move on his own, but could still move only his head neck and paw. He sighed and looked at Cloudsky. "This is why i've not gone and died. I was cursed for eternity, by my mate's binding words."he meowed, "And so I live. I can get hurt, I can die, but only a warrior's death."

  • Cloudsong looked at Dustfur sadly, "That is horrible, that must be so hard." Her claws sheathed and unsheathed quickly. Her eyes drifted off towards the vast expanse of Windclan. The sun was setting so that the moors were painted in a artsy glow. It would take too long for them to move back to camp, "We should find a cave for us to stay in for the night, I know one nearby." There was an old badger den to the northeast of them. "Its been a long day." She mewed obviously tired from the day.

  • Dustfur nodded and looked at her. "I'm sorry that i'm lamed... This thing on my spine... it's terrible."He whispered, attempting to move on his own.

  • Cloudsong smiled, "Its fine, it'll make me stronger." She chuckled then got serious, "But we'll need to see the medicine cat, she'll be able to help further." She got up and grabbed the tom's scruff and pulled him towards the badger den, it wasn't more than a couple of fox-lengths away. She pulled him gently inside to reveal a large soft den with a pile of brownish-white feathers towards the back wall, with closer investigation, there seemed to be a good amount of bracken and moss too. The ground was layered with large leaves that kept the moist dirt dry. It looked as if it'd been lived in recently. "Tonight's home!" She smiled. She started making two nests out of the bracken, moss and feathers. She made them fairly close together so she could keep an eye on Dustfur. She gently dragged him onto one of the nests.

  • The fawn cat closed his eyes and lay as he was dragged into the nest. Sleep came easily and silently, no dreams scorched his mind as he slept.

  • Cloudsong walked in circles a couple of times before she laid down. The nest was more comfortable than her one in camp, she'd have to remember that. She had trouble falling asleep, but when she did, it was restful.

OoC: Want to fast-forward to morning?

  • OOC: Ja.

Dustfur woke early at dawn, gazing out at the moors. in the night he'd found he could move his upper body, and had dragged himself to the entrance, where he lie with his paws tucked under his chest. His stormy blue eyes where distant and cold as he listened to the voice of his dead mate.

  • Cloudsong woke up refreshed and looked towards Dustfur's nest, only to find that he wasn't there. She looked around the rest of the den to see him nest to the entrance. "I see that you can move more, that's great!" She meowed happily as she padded up next to him. She looked at him and saw that he had something on his mind, she asked tentatively, "Your thinking about your old mate again, aren't you?" She looked off over the moors and watched the beautiful sunrise.

  • Dustfur nodded. "She's telling me to let go."He meowed, hurt in his voice. He licked his paw and looked at Cloudsong.

  • Cloudsong looked deep into his eyes, "Maybe she's right. I mean you'll never enjoy the rest of your life if her presence is always weighing on your shoulders." She move her line of sight up at Silverpelt, which was now invisible in the bright daylight, "Shes up in Starclan now, she'll always be watching you, and when you get to Starclan, you can spend eternity together." She sighed.

  • Dustpelt nodded and looked at her. "i'm sorry if im too lingering on the subject."He meowed quietly, keeping her gaze."

  • Cloudsong mewed softly, "No, no, no, its nothing. I know it must of been hard." She laid down as the vibrant oranges and reds from the morning's sunrise evened out into a light blue, but she wasn't paying attention to that, she was more interested with the tom.

  • Cloudsong.... You remind me of her. that's why it hurt me so much when you asked me my name."He said finally, after a long silence of staring into the sunrise.

  • "I-I do?" She didn't know what to say, she was blushing though, and her ears were beet red. She looked over the moors, she could see a bunny hoping around. After she had cooled down a little bit, she looked back at Dustfur, "You'll fit in perfectly with Windclan." She mewed, she was racking her brain for something to say, but that's all she could say. Stupid she-cat, 'you'll fit in perfectly with Windclan'?! What were you thinking! she thought.

  • "You are right, i would."He mewed, watching her blush. Dustfur looked on his spine at the mass that resided there, distracted for a second. "That is most of the reason i came here and followed you."He meowed, looking at her dead-on.

  • Cloudsong's blush intensified two-fold when she saw him looking at her in the eye, "Followed me?" She tried to look him in the eye but her vision drifted off to the side. She couldn't imagine why anyone would want to follow her, she looked at the mass on his spine, "Our Medicine Cats is really good, Salixtwist and Grantedwishes will be able to fix that up..." She wasn't sure completely though, she wasn't sure the clan had ever seen something like what Dustfur had. How could the two medicine cats fix that?
