  • "Yeah, we're even." Violetblossoms said with a small grin. She stood up to jump down to the same branch as Bright, but a gust of wind suddenly blew in her direction. She felt herself tipping towards the right, and scrambled to keep a hold on the branch. She managed to keep from falling, but as she tried to scramble up, she caused the branches to rustle, and some birds to flap off, a motion which caused a pine cone to hurl towards the top of her head. It landed it's blow, and she was distracted. She slipped and fell to the ground with a yowl, landing roughly in some brambles. She smacked her head against a rock, and was knocked out, blood slowly trickling from her ear.

It was amazing how fast it happened.

OOC || I torture to so much. Dx

  • Bright was about to leave them alone forever but the branch rustled, then birds flapped off,and then a yowl.."Violetblossoms!" The to-be hopped down right next to her and froze. "Uh, Lightrain! B-breezefeather!"

  • Lightrain shivered. He loved his sister to death, but at the same time she scared him out of his mind.

And that was when it happened. The tom watched in slow motion as his sister stood, then tipped to the side, and then fell to the earth where she laid, unmoving. The leaves made most of what happened unclear, but the fact of the matter was that Violetblossoms had fallen from a great height, and was now unconscious and bleeding.

"Violetblossoms!" he screamed, and Lightrain was at her side at once, ignoring Bright, eyes focused on his sister's slack face.

Breezefeather watched with a horrified expression as Violetblossoms lost her grip on the limb, and on consciousness. He stretched out a paw, but it only swiped through empty air. The tom winced as she landed with a sickening thud.

He was down in a flash, and beside Lightrain in another second. "Violetblossoms?" he asked, the dread that she would not survive coloring his voice.

  • "Sh-she slipped. R-r-right after sh-she for-for-forgave me." Bright tried to make out the words but she was shaking so badly they came out in a jumbling mess. But she didn't care about the forgiveness, really. Only that Violetblossoms was near-death. "Save her!" That time it was a yowl.

  • Lightrain normally would've argued with Bright, would've told her that she hadn't been given an absolution, but he had more important matters at hand. He glanced at Breezefeather, meowing, "I'm going to go get Dreammeadow. I'll be right back."

Breezefeather watched him go, then turned his eyes back to his dying love. She couldn't die now -- he'd never told her how much he loved her, about the future he'd planned for them. He couldn't let that slip away. He pushed his nose into her fur, breathing in her scent. "I love you," he whispered, saying the words while he still could. "So much."

  • Pawsteps were heard moving through the leaves, not far off. As the steady crackling sound came ever closer, low murmurs could be heard. At first, these murmurs were inaudible, but they grew louder as the speakers drew near.

"...sure you don't want me to put some marigold where the thorn came out, Merlin? It could get infected." The pawsteps paused.

"Thanks, Owlsong, but I think I‘ll be alright," said the voice of a young tom, probably not older than eight or nine moons. The pawsteps began again, and soon, a tortoiseshell she-cat poked through a bush near the gathered cats, followed closely by a young jet black to-be.

“What happened!?” Owlsong asked at the nearest cat, immediately shoving aside the nearest cat in her haste to get to the injured she-cat known as Violetblossoms. Hmm… Appears to be a head injury. Looking around at the others, she barked: “Was this an accident?”

Merlin, the to-be, peered at his aunt from a safe distance away. S***, that looks terrible, he thought to himself. Not fatal, though, by Owlsong's reaction.

  • Bright would have snapped at the cat who pushed her away, but thought about her promise and Violetblossoms words. Treat them nicely and you'll get it in return. They weren't her exact words but it still had the same meaning. "Yeah. Th-the wind. It-it-it blew and...she slipped." She probably looked stupid for stuttering. She sure felt like it.

  • Owlsong nodded curtly, and set about to examining Violetblossoms. "If only I had anticipated this..." She flashed her eyes about the nearby scene, searching for one thing in particular. She looked at Bright. "You. See that thing over there? The plant over there that looks like red clover, but is a bit pointier at the top? Get it." With any luck, the plant she'd directed Bright to get -- alfalfa -- would stop any internal bleeding that might be occuring within Violetblossoms' head.

    When ingested.

Owlsong bit her lip until a small bead of blood ran onto her tounge, hardly noticing the action. How to wake her up without killing her? she thought. Dreammeadow never taught me this! Gazing downward at Violetblossoms, she suddenly thought of something. Maybe the solution isn't to wake her up but instead to get her to swallow it while she's unconscious. Looking over her shoulder at Bright, who she hoped was already working at getting the alfalfa, she said: "Hurry up with that."

  • Echowater had been hunting when she saw Violet. She had watched as she cut herself and let the blood drip. She watched as her brother, the to-be Rain, and another to-be unknown to her as they ran up. She had heard the the conversation - or most of it - and saw Violet fall. She rushed forward to help, but was too late. She froze in a small panic, and watched. But now she rushed forward.
"Breezefeather..." she murmured, standing next to her brother.

    Violet, meanwhile, was still unconscious.

  • Bright swallowed back another rude comment. [i]Treat them nicely and you'll get it in return.[i] She kept repeating the words in her head as she hurried as fast as she can to get the red herb. She brought it back to the shecat. "Here. Now it's your turn to hurry up."

  • Breezefeather looked up at Echowater as she appeared next to him, and was about to say something when another set of footfalls drew his attention. When he saw it was one of the Healers, his tortured countenance changed into a relieved and grateful expression. "Yes, she fell from the tree, and hit her head on this rock here. She's been out and bleeding for only a little bit."

Lightrain hurried back to where his sister laid, meowing, "I'm sorry. I couldn't find her . . ." But then he saw Owlsong, and his face relaxed into a mirror image of Breezefeather's. He came to stand on the opposite side of Violetblossoms from Breezefeather, glancing at the Healer. "Will she be okay?"

  • Owlsong had always been taught to tell the truth about the condition of her patients, even if it would cause them to be more worried than they were before. To keep from sounding as worried as she felt, the she-cat decided it would be best to put it bluntly. "She fell hard. It's very possible she has a concussion, possibly a severe one. If I'm not careful, she could die or come back to us with amnesia or with limited movement." Owlsong turned back to her patient, and seeing a nice twig of alfalfa, bit it off and began to mash it between two smooth rocks that she found.

Setting that aside for later use, Owlsong peered more closely at her patient. Definately a concussion, between minor and severe, Owlsong thought as she proceeded to check the cat's breathing. Cold, clammy, but still breathing. That means she's probably in shock, and needs to be kept warm. "You," she said to Breezefeather. "Come over here and wrap yourself around her, but be careful not to move her head. Don't ask questions if you want her to come to."

  • Night was watching them, mostly Lightrain. She didn't know what to do but just sit there.

Bright sighed and walked away, knowing she was no use for them anymore. She had promised to leave them alone after Violetblossoms had heard what she said and even though she was rude and ignorant, she kept up to her promises - no matter that the cost was to lose her best friend...her crush, really. Anyways, Violetblossoms won't remember their agreement when she woke up....but then she won't remember that they fought, either. And then Bright could start over. Ha! Lightrain won't let me. She thought as she stopped to look back, eyes filled with tears, and ears pinned back. He hates my life now. And I can't do anything to change his mind.

  • Breezefeather did as Owlsong said, folding himself awkwardly around Violetblossoms, making sure he didn't jostle her head.

Lightrain's primary focus was Violetblossoms, but a movement in his peripheral vision caught his eye. His head snapped up just in time to see Bright pause, looking back with an expression of both heartbreak and resignation. He felt something pull apart in his own chest; it was a strange sensation. The tom resolved to make amends after this crisis. Then once again his attention was dominated by his sister's limp face.

  • Bright's heart leaped as she saw Lightrain look up at her, thinking he was going to tell her to come back. But then fell when he looked back without a word. The calico to-be sighed, blinked out a tear, and ran away as fast as she can.

Night didn't notice Bright run off, but she did see Lightrain look her way. He's gonna forgive her, I knew it! She thought in hatred. He's such a weak-heart.

ooc: Bright out and going in another thread.

  • Owlsong mentally ran through her mind the herbs that would cause a cat to regain consciousness. Hyssop, wild onion... She saw some wild onion grass growing not far off, but would that be strong enough to wake Violetblossoms up? Turning to her nephew, Owlsong directed: "Merlin, the onions. Bring me a few, and try to get the actual onion if you can."

Merlin obediantly stood. Sure, tell me to get the onion. I don't even know what it is! I'm not her stupid apprentice! He walked toward the plant he thought was the onion, nosing his way through the tall grass toward it. He reached out and touched a white-flowered plant with his paw to indicate it. A shower of nearby dandelion fluff covered on him. "Is this one it?"

"No, that's queen anne's lace!" Owlsong replied. "It's the one to your left that looks like round-shafted green grass. Don't forget to dig the roots."

"Make me look like an idiot," Merlin grumbled inaudibly to himself, blowing all the fallen dandelion fluff off his dark forehead. Even as he did this, he turned and began to dig below the dirt, finally exposing what looked like young green bulbs of onion. He took this as well as the above-surface portion of the plant back to Owlsong. "Here, have at it." Then he sat down once more in his original place.

Owlsong ignored the younger cat's attitude and took the wild onion in her paws. She kneaded it on a nearby stone momentarily, to break open the plant and release the strong scent that would hopefully cause Violetblossoms to wake up. Then she took it back to the injured she-cat and checked once more to see if the she-cat was breathing. Then she placed the plant under the she-cat's nose, without moving her head. "Wake up, Violetblossoms. You have to take your alfalfa," she said.

  • Somewhere in dreamland, Violetblossoms heard the voice. SHe tried opening her eyes, but the seemed to be glued shut (really, they were just stuck together from sleep). She let out a small moan. "Wus that smell?" she muttered.

  • Real hope sparked in Breezefeather's eyes as she stirred. Her eyelids fluttered, and she murmured something, almost inaudible. But, because of his proximity, he could understand. "That's onion, honey. It's to wake you up. You've been asleep for some time now -- you hit your head on a rock when you fell. Do you remember that?" His mouth wrapped around each and every word like a caress; he was just so happy that she was alive.

Lightrain was overjoyed as well at the sound of his sister's voice, but the memory of Bright's anguished expression lingered in his mind, staining the triumph. "Open your eyes, sis. You have to take some herbs, but then you'll be just fine, I promise." He smiled at her, but it wasn't as wide as it would've been, had there been only happiness in this situation.

  • Violetblossoms blinked her eyes open, and looked around at the cats huddled around her.
"Wha? W-who are you cats?" she asked.

OOC || Amnesia, ha! Why didn't I think of this sooner? -loves to torture her kitties-

BTW, anyone wonder what happened to Frozen Moonlight?

  • Night looked between Lightrain and Breezefeather, examining their faces before turning to Violetblossoms. "You have amnesia. You forgot about us. Lightrain is your brother, Breezefeather is your mate, and I'm just a tobe who tagged along - Night. And bright went off somewheres." She was going to tell the cat about how she hated Bright but decided against it.
