  • Lets not focus on tortie fathers for now.

    Okay- Lilac Smoke x Calico[tortie w/ white]

    First- Do what you ABSOLUTELY know. Ill do this one with you

    But before that- We need to make sure weve mastered Torties and Silvering!

  • Alrighty, Well I'd know kinda how to A Lilac x Calico pair, it's just the Smoke that's throwing me off o3o

    Lilac x Calico;
    Males: Red tabby, cream tabby, [black, blue, lilac or chocolate?]
    Females: Tortie, dilute tortie, [Black, blue, chocolate, lilac?] chocolate tortie, lilac tortie.

    Yeah, nvm, failed :3 I can't do that pair because I'm used to pairing up the genes, and since there isn't any lilac/chocolate in a calico, or any black/red in a lilac, I'm confused. xD

  • Hmm....
    A Lilac is Chocolates dilute so both of them should be there. Black and red have to be with the tortie then we add white...

    I swear i ABSOLUTELY hate torties!!! Its confusing me!!

  • Yeahhh >< But to get Black/Blue for the female, the father needs to carry the Black/Blue. Same, but flipped, to get red tabbies/cream tabbies. To get Lilac/Chocolate...I have no clue D:

  • Bleh :/

    Lets switch our attention to something else for the time being. You said youve learned the Tabbys? Coul you help with those?

  • I'm kind of rusty on the tabbies, for not have worked on them for so long.
    I do know though;
    T[raised a I can't type x3] Is ticked tabby, dominate to all others.
    T is mackerel tabby, dominate to all but ticked tabby.
    a is solid, no tabbing. Recessive to Ticked & Mackerel tabbing, dominate to classic.
    t is classic tabby; recessive to all.

    Example pair! x3
    Cinnamon Mackerel tabby x blue classic tabby;
    Brown mackerel tabby, blue mackerel tabby, cinnamon mackerel tabby, fawn mackerel tabby.
    [No classics since it's recessive to mackerel. You can assume the mackerel [T] carries the solid gene [Making it Ta] then you'll get solids in there. I think you can also assume it carries classic [making it Tt] to get Classic tabbies in there. I don't think you can assume it carries both though. not sure..]

    Again, very rusty on my tabbies. x3

  • Ahhhhh

    When you have a pairing like this one

    Lilac Classic Tabby x Chocolate

    Woul you add the classic tabbys AND the solids? Thats where im confused at

    And marbled tabby..... Isnt there anoter word for that one?

  • Lilac Classic tabby x Chocolate;
    No, you wouldn't have any tabbys because the solid gene of the chocolate is dominate to the classic tabby gene of the lilac. But, since we usually assume the dominate carries the recessive, to give the litters more options, I'm not 100% sure. If you didn't assume it did, you would just get;
    Chocolate, lilac.

    If you did, you would get;
    Lilac classic tabby, chocolate classic tabby, chocolate, lilac.

    & I don't know, I'v only heard it as Mackerel x3

  • Thats the word!!

    I read Feathers guide many times and on the Tabby part, she added both

    And i just love how atleast two to three pages in these two genetics threads are full of iur posts!

  • MANY MANY PAGES!!

    Alrighty-

    Chocolate Mackeral Tabby x Cinnamon Ticked Tabby

    Blue Classic Tabby x Brown Tabby

  • MANY MANY PAGES!!

    Hehe XD

    Chocolate Mackeral Tabby x Cinnamon Ticked Tabby

    Chocolate mackerel tabby x Cinnamon ticked tabby [Assumed to carry mackerel]
    Chocolate mackerel tabby, lilac mackerel tabby, cinnamon mackerel tabby, fawn mackerel tabby, cinnamon ticked tabby, fawn ticked tabby, chocolate ticked tabby, lilac ticked tabby.

    Chocolate mackerel tabby x Cinnamon ticked tabby [Assumed NOT to carry mackerel]
    Cinnamon ticked tabby, fawn ticked tabby, chocolate ticked tabby, lilac ticked tabby.

    I wasn't sure whether to assume or not, so. x3

    Blue Classic Tabby x Brown Tabby

    I have no clue, because I don't know where unknown tabby [The brown tabby.] Ranks in dominance o3o Since classic is last though, I'm going to assume Brown tabby is over Classic XD
    Blue classic tabby x Brown tabby [Assumed to carry classic tabby.]
    Brown classic tabby, blue classic tabby, brown tabby, blue tabby.

    Blue classic tabby x Brown tabby [Assumed NOT to carry classic tabby.]
    Brown tabby, blue tabby.

    ^I probably got that one wrong since I don't know where unknown tabby ranks XD

  • I assumed you would do both so i didnt specify :3 But either way this one is right!

    As for the other one, im in the same boat as you. Im 95% positive its right though. I couldnt quote it cause my quote thing didnt work ^^

  • I think the second is right, because I just remembered that when it says 'Tabby' and you have to cross it with a specific type of tabby [Ex; Blue ticked tabby] You assume it as a mackerel [Or, that's what I was taught.] But, if your crossing it with no specific type of tabby, or just solids, ect [Ex; Blue tabby, brown tabby, ect. Black, fawn, and everything else really xD] Then you don't need to assume it as anything. :3 And, when crossing it with a specific type, you don't actually list it as mackerel, just a tabby, but you rank it as mackerel. Meaning, it would be above classic & no tabbying, and below Ticked tabby.

    -Hopes that that was taught to me right.-

  • Thats what i was taught too. I actually have that section finished on my test

  • ok, can someone give me some easy red factor questions? please? *hopes*

    *stares in awe* arrgh! too many pages! why you write so much while i'm away O.o!

  • This is just little me practicing a punnet square, just ignore... :3
