Hollyleaf looked at Ripplenight.Sagepaw and Rainpaw looked at Rushpaw. They were out hunting.
Nightpaw and Webpaw sat down and sighed.

Rushpaw glanced at the two apprentices who were hunting. She sighed.

"Are you okay?" Sagepaw asked, walking over to Rushpaw. Rainpaw stayed far away, because he knew Rushpaw would just make a face at him and his scars, then walk away.

"Yah, I'm fine." She muttered. "I just wish I could hunt again." She got to her paws and padded towards camp, brushing past Rainpaw without even looking at him. Her gaze was focused on the ground.

Rainpaw looked sadly after Rushpaw. She acted as if he didn't exist.

She padded into the apprentice den and sat down in her nest which was in between Rainpaw's nest, and Sagepaw's nest.

Sagepaw and Rainpaw came back to camp. Webpaw and Nightpaw dashed over to them. The four were very close friends. "What happened? Rainpaw looks really glum." Nightpaw says. "Rushpaw ignored him again." Sagepaw answered. "You have to get over her. Sagepaw has a better chance with Rushpaw than you, Rainpaw." Webpaw says.

Rushpaw pricked her ears, overhearing them talking.

"I love her, but I know Sagepaw has a better chance than I do with Rushpaw. Thanks for trying to make me feel better. You're really good friends." Rainpaw said. "We weren't trying to cheer you up." Webpaw says. "I'm going back to the apprentices' den." Rainpaw says. He walked to the apprentices' den and entered. He stopped when he saw Rushpaw.

She jumped. "Uhuhhuhhhhh hi, Rainpaw. What brings you in on such a fine day for hunting"

"Nothing. I just needed to take a nap." Rainpaw said quietly and curled up in his nest, his back to Rushpaw.

"Uh, yah. Ok. Well, have fun with that. Heh heh.. Heheh..." She flopped down and rubbed her head with a paw. think, stupid apprentice, think. Your not a selfish kit anymore! How do you kindly turn down a cat who wants to be your friend? Ugh. There's just no end to the dramatics of life. she thought.

Sagepaw entered the apprentices' den. He saw Rushpaw. "Hi Rushpaw." he said. Nightpaw and Webpaw entered after him.
