  • Mira was strongly wishing she had shoes now. the soft grassy ground had now changed to a pebbly sidewalk and it hurt when rocks dug into her bare feet.

Kip wasn't to much better off, though he didn't have cuts on his feet, he didn't have shoes either. he wondered what the three of them must look like to everyone else.

  • she wondered where they where going ,aybe they're one of them and they're going to tell them

  • Soni paused ad slid the worn sneakers off her feet she knew try would be rather big, but it's was better than nothing. "Here." she passed them down to Mira. She didn't give her a chance to say no, before turning onto a street wit a large 'Inn' sign that cast a bright yellow glow in the parking lot. "We can stop here." Soni said her eyes flickering slightly and her legs starting to give way. She quickly covered her stumble hoping they wouldnt say anything.

  • she quickly gathered up some catnip before heading to an old house no one lived in it

  • Kip started forward to help her, but decided she wouldn't thank him for it.

Mira slipped on the shoes, shooting a grateful look at Soni.

"ok, lets go in then..." Kip said decisively and started into the main room of the motel.

  • she started singing "Redback, Funnel-Web, Blue-ringed octopus
Taipan, Tigersnake and a Box jellyfish
Stonefish and the poison thing that lives in a shell
That spikes you when you pick it up

    Come to Australia
    You might accidentally get killed

    Your life's constantly under threat
    Have you been bitten yet?
You've only got three minutes left
    Before a massive coronary breakdown

    Redback, Funnel-Web, Blue-ringed octopus
Tiapan, Tigersnake and a Box jellyfish
Big shark just waiting for you to go swimming
    At Bondi Beach

    Come to Australia
    You might accidentally get killed
Your blood is bound to be spilled
With fear your pants will be filled
Because you might accidentally get killed"

  • Soni for once let Kip take the lead And nodded to Mira saying it wasn't a big deal. Thankfully most of the blood on her arms had been wiped away and her wings here're tucked under a loose jacket that hung on her starving frame loosely. Soni waited for Kip to get a room and looked at the door nervously before checking on Mira.

  • she opened the door and walked inside putting down the catnip

  • "I think she saw Mira and took pity on us." Kip said dryly and then shrugged "but hey, who are we to complain. come on, its this way."

Mira happily followed him, still favoring her injured foot.

  • she chewed on a few leaves then went into town a hat covering her ears

  • Soni took in this idea,"Yeah, that's a good idea. Thanks Mira." for the first time she actually truly smiled lighting up her face. She let her gentle smiled fade away slowly shading her soft features again. Keeping her mind blank she felt like she was safe, even though I the back of he head she had a feeling they wouldn't ever really be safe, no matter how far they flew.

  • "my-" she was cut off by her own yawn "Pleasure..." she finished.

"you know...I don't think I've ever slept in a real bed!" Kip said, unlocking the door to the room, revealing two beds, a couch and everything else a cheap motel normally has in its room.

  • she past the motel and went next door to a supermarket

  • "I've slept in one once, but that was a very long time ago." Soni said takin in every detail of a normal life. She shut the door And winced again as a pain shot though her. Limping foward she half collapsed and half sat down on the couch her dark eyes closing and her wings unfolding slightly, for the room was to small for her to unstretch them fully.

  • "alright Mira, let me see your foot." Kip said, having Mira take a seat on the foot of one of the beds. he looked at the cut for a moment and then went into the dinky little bathroom, got a paper towel wet and came back out.

Mira frowned, sticking her foot back out again, knowing he would ask her to "really, its f- Ouch! Kip! that hurts, quit it!" she protested, trying to jerk her ankle out of his grasp when he started to wash the cut

"I'm sorry Mira, it needs to be cleaned. do you want it to get infected?" he said apologetically and continued cleaning it. after he had finished, he tore a strip of fabric of his grey tea-shirt, it was to long anyways, and tied it around her foot. "there, now don't mess with it."

"wasn't planning on it." Mira said and lay on her back with her arms spread eagle.

  • Soni looked up after watching the little scene,"You can take the bed Kip, I fall asleep anywhere." she said and stood up hopping on one foot to the bathroom where she slashed water across her face and cleaned her hands. Coming back out of the small space she sat down at the edge of the bed closest to her and ran her fingers though her hair trying to pull to knots out. It felt great to be somewhat cleaned and kept.

  • she 'bought' some cat food and other stuff

  • "haven't you heard? thats against the gentlemen's code. besides, there's still some cash left, if you two would be ok here, I was thinking I could go get something for us to eat." Kip said, only half joking in his first statement.

Mira was already starting to doze off.

  • she stood out the front of the supermarket knowing they didn't know what she did

  • Soni had already settled herself down on the tacky pattern couch. "Go ahead I'll look over Mira." She trained her eyes on them both, watching intently. With her wings out slightly she turned away from Kip to look out the window. From here she could see the wheat field where they landed, and a small grocery store down the road. Stretching out her legs Soni sighed thankful for a place to sleep other than the cages.
