    Name: Halcyonpaw
    Clan: Snowclan
    Rank: Apprentice

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; bordercolor: white; border: 2px dashed #222680; height: 500px; width: 195px; overflow: auto; border-radius: 20px;][size=8][color=black] A calico sat in her favorite birch tree which was located not very far from the entrance of the camp. Of course this apprentice was by herself as she wasn't exactly the 'social' type as she spent more of her time thinking, and planning two attack moves and thinking about the future which kept her fairly busy. But lately it seemed she had become more social as she had already found her first love, Erebespaw. They were almost like yin yang as her fur was splotched with white and green eyes while he had the pure black pelt and violet eyes. She of course didn't judge him for his looks as she actually liked the way he looked, but looked more toward his personality.
The apprentice was lost in thought as she just sat in the tree staring blanking at the cloudless sky as she watched the occasional bird fly past. The tip of her tail twitched as then sudden events flashed before her eyes and the scar on her flank quickly began to sting for some reason. The image of her father flashed in her mind and this made her flinch, but she quickly shook her head and then began thinking again..

Opalshard was beginning to lose track of the time that had passed. How many days, she wondered? How many moons? Seasons? Since she arrived in SnowClan, everything felt like a blur. Frostpaw was gone. Relicpaw was gone. Kionapaw, and Rapidpaw. Everything she had ever cared for just slipped away like the water tumbling down that vicious gorge by WindClan that swallowed up her father and started this horrible cycle of misfortune.

Shaking the thoughts away, the egyptian mau forced her steps to be even and paced as she left camp. With a glazed expression, she trekked on, silent and aimless in her path. She hardly noticed she was passing by another cat.

In fact, she didn't notice, and merely continued to walk.

She saw what seemed to be a depressed looking cat just walking by. She already knew it was one of her clanmates because of the cats scent, but she rarely saw that type of cat in the clan. She didn't know much about egyptian mau's, but had a feeling they were just like any other wild breed, strong, wild, and stubborn. The calico's green eyes watched as her clanmate walked passed her. She then quickly wanted to figure out what happened to the she-cat, and wondered if her clanmate was one of the cats that would talk out loud about their problems. She decided to test that theory as she went into a crouch once the she-cat was out of sight, and slowly began to follow after. Putting her paws expertly on the ground as she followed, her green gaze leveled with the ground..

  • What to do, what to do? Opalshard was beginning to question why she had left camp in the first place. To hunt? To patrol? Maybe to teach her apprentice? No, her apprentice had vanished, too. The egyptian mau stopped in her tracks, looking very helpless as she struggled to recall his name. What had it been? ...Edgepaw? Etch... Etchapaw? Yes, that was it. She thought. She couldn't be sure. Her memories of the time were fuzzy as it was. Maybe it was cruel, but she hadn't thought much of it when he vanished. She thought, That's only normal. Everyone disappears someday.

Why? She didn't know. She only knew that had been the reality of her whole life.

Very suddenly, the female was gripped by an overwhelming sense of despair. Great -- now she'd done it. She let herself brood again. Her throat began to constrict, an all-too-familiar sensation, and in a fit of madness she began to question where she was. Home? Was that where she was? It didn't feel like home. It wasn't even the SnowClan she knew. No, they had moved, and since then she never again laid eyes on her sister or Rapidpaw. Were they still back in the old SnowClan, in the snowy peaks where she thought she had begun to find some semblence of her sanity?

Perhaps that wasn't home, either. Home was back when she had her father, her brother, and all three sisters. Even better, before her mother disappeared. Back somewhere beyond the main Clans, in the uncharted territory she didn't dare return to...

An idea fixating itself in her mind, she cast a glimpse back, still oblivious to the presence of Halcyonpaw somewhere above. Hoping no one was out there to find her, Opalshard suddenly took off at a sprint toward the main Clans, crossing over the SnowClan border with no thought to the consequences.

  • The calico was about to call out as she watched the she-cats body language closely. The she-cat was clearly distressed and then she noticed that she had been spotted. She looked down and noticed she had stood up a bit, just enough for her white fur to stand out between the blades of grass she had been hiding behind.
The she-cat quickly leaped onto her paws and pumped adrenaline into her muscles to fuel her speed as she attempted to catch up with the she-cat. Luckily she was small, unlike most Snowclan cats who were large, and full of muscle. Several thoughts and decisions ran into the she-cats head as she began to think about what she could say. But she could only think of one at the moment as she crossed the border along with her clanmate, at least she thought it was her clanmate. No it had to be because the she-cat smelled of Snowclan, and she had a feeling she was leaving for a reason, but she wanted to know why so she could bid her farewell.
"Wait up!" Came Halyconpaw's yowl as she pumped her paws harder onto the ground. Not caring about stealth, her paws landed heavily on the ground as she was soon behind the she-cat. Her green gaze locked onto the she-cats body movements and judged where her paws were going to go. "Please stop for a couple seconds!" The Snowclanner pleaded as she knew she wouldn't be able to run any father from the territory border, even though she was already qutie far.

[[How in the world did you manage to get my muse up that much? XD]]

  • ooc. LOL I'm not sure! I'm glad to be of service XD

    ic.
"Wait up!" She thought she heard the voice behind her. "Please stop for a couple of seconds!"

Who would be calling after her? Had someone noticed she was leaving? Or was it that she was just hallucinating again? It wouldn't have been the first time -- she had rushed into the medicine cat's den one too many times in search of Kionapaw, who she insisted she heard crying out for her. Every time she had to be reassured that Kionapaw wasn't in the medicine cat's den, nor had she ever been.

Tears welling in her eyes, she tried to press on, but the voice echoed in her mind, and she finally skid to a stop on unsteady paws. The scent on her tongue, now... it was RiverClan, she thought. SnowClan wasn't far from the main Clans now. And being on RiverClan territory meant she was already half-way to her destination.

She looked back. The sleek spotted silver tabby brought up her brilliant blue-green eyes, eyes which had bestowed Opalshard with her namesake, and saw a form running toward her. "Kionapaw?" The mau fumbled helplessly with her words, afraid of the tears that threatened to escape. The form approaching didn't look like Kionapaw, but thought of her sister was the only thing stopping her right now.

She'd made up her mind. Nothing was going to stop her.

  • [[Why thank you very much XD We need to rp more so I can keep my muse up with you XD]]

The apprentice was panting once she had neared her clanmate. A nasty scent quickly flooded her nostrils as soon as she stopped, and then realized she was near Riverclan territory. Boy she had run far and now she was exhausted as she stood in front of the she-cat. Taking a couple seconds to catch her breath she heard the words escape the silver tabby's jaws. "Kionapaw? I'm Halyconpaw, your clanmate from Snowclan. I just wanted to ask why you are so upset and ran away from your clan."
The calico asked between breathes as she was still exhausted from the run. Boy she needed to get in shape, but she couldn't blame herself as she kept a steady run from Snowclan and then to Riverclan. She just really wanted to know what was wrong with her clanmate and try to come up with a solution to fix it. Her green eyes met the she-cats blue-green ones and tried to figure out what her clanmate was feeling at that moment.

  • Upon closer inspection, she certainly didn't look like Kionapaw. Opalshard expected to feel that familiar sensation -- the one where her heart seemed to sink in her chest like a rock -- and yet it never came. Why, she questioned again? Maybe she was too used to it. To break a heart that had already been broken... was such a thing possible?

"O-Oh," Was all she managed at first, unversed in speaking. It dawned on her that she had not used her voice in what felt like moons now. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bother you."

She wanted to ask why Opalshard had run off. Oh. Oh, dear, that was a question the mau wasn't sure how to answer. But it was a simple answer, wasn't it? "I'm... I'm going home," The female then replied, sounding definitive and certain. Yes, that was what she had decided to do. Enough of SnowClan. Enough of patrols, and hunting, and... disappearing.

There would be none of that where she was going.

"It's not far..." She was clearly uncomfortable, if not obvious by her words then by her fidgeting body language. Her form was unusually thin, same as it always was; one might say she even looked malnourished. It was no wonder, seeing as she ate like a bird. If she ate much more than that, she couldn't keep it down. "I'll be okay on my own, don't worry."

The lithe female began to back up, one slow step at a time. "...You can tell everyone at SnowClan goodbye for me."

As if they would remember her. For far too long she had merely be a specter skirting the edges of camp, a faceless SnowClan warrior, a stranger to all of them.

    Not anymore.

After all, she was no stranger to death.

  • The apprentice watched the she-cat carefully. The she-cat almost look like she was afraid, but afraid of what? She of course didn't know and was afraid to ask that question in case it was a touchy subject in which she didn't want to get scolded at by a larger cat. At the comment about her bother her she quickly shook her head in response. "Its perfectly fine. Nothing really botheres me anymore." Halyconpaw mewed in a calm voice as she focused on her clanmates other comments
Well she wouldn't be her clanmate anymore especially now that she was going to leave Snowclan. She of course couldn't wrap her head around why she wanted to leave, but had a feeling it had something to do with the she-cats past. "Well if you are going to leave Snowclan, at least let me say goodbye." The calico mewed as she stepped closer toward the she-cat and aimed to place her head on her clanmates shoulder in a goodbye gesture.

  • Opalshard stood still while Halcyonpaw pressed her head against the mau's shoulder, her legs trembling ever-so-slightly. That was it, then. This was goodbye. It felt like this day had been looming over the horizon for moons now... yet the suddenness of it still struck a chord in the poor female.

Lowering her own head to rest on Halcyonpaw's shoulder, Opalshard closed her eyes and relished the brief contact with a warm body. She could not remember the last time she had come into physical contact with another cat, aside from the occasional brush of a passerby. It was nice to feel physically real again, if even for a moment.

"Goodbye, Halcyonpaw. I apologize... that we didn't meet sooner."

Pulling away, she turned and started at a gentle pace toward the RiverClan gorge, a calmness to her motions that she hadn't possessed before.

  • The apprentice didn't realize a apprentice could be so warm to the touch, and just touching the she-cat brought warmth to her entire body as if she was next to a fire. Hearing her former clanmates mew as she pulled away a sigh escaped her jaws. "I'm sorry as well. But I promise to remember you if you do the same for me. And maybe someday we will see each other again!" The calico called after the mau her green eyes gleaming. She then turned around and began to long treck back to Snowclan, and she probably wouldn't make it back there before midnight hit.

  • Yes... perhaps they would see each other again someday. But she hoped, for Halcyonpaw's sake, that day wouldn't be soon.

No RiverClan cats had yet noticed the intruder on their territory. Reaching the gorge, Opalshard didn't look back to see if the apprentice was still in sight. She was turning away from SnowClan, her life, everything. And if she was going to do that, certainly she didn't have the liberty of looking back.

Her paws pressed at the lip of the wide opening, dropping down into a chasm of rushing water and pointed rocks below. Was her father still somewhere down there, she wondered? Her brother, too? She had lost both of them to these rapids. Maybe she would see them again at the bottom. Yes, that was her sincere hope. She would see Frostpaw again... and perhaps everyone else who had disappeared. A sad smile played at her lips.

She thought fear might stop her at this point, but she felt nothing. Her senses were numbed, and her perception of sound was muffled by the sound of crashing water. Salvation was just a pawstep forward. That one step would change everything. And she took it.

ooc. certainly wasn't expecting to write any of that. o_o My characters have minds of their own. Lmao XD
