"Do you guys think my father was bad?" he asked, feeling Foxpaw's tail on his shoulder.
-
"I'm sorry," Retinalpaw mewled, tears welling up in her eyes.
-
Foxpaw looked at him. "He wasn't a bad cat. He just didn't make a good choice to murder others."
-
"He was a loving father," Retinalpaw meowed, also resting her tail on his shoulder.
-
Foxpaw nodded, removing her tail.
-
Retinalpaw felt kind of bad for that.
-
"He was. The evilness was a cover. I think there a good heart in him, he died protecting me." Wolverinepaw explained.
-
"All cats have a heart," Retinalpaw meowed.
-
Foxpaw sighed and went to two graves alone in a corner and sat by them.
-
"Are those.... Your parents?" Retinalpaw asked.
-
Wolverinepaw watched him for a moment. "Retnailpaw, could you comfort him? I need to be alone with my brother."
-
"Oh," Retinalpaw remarked. "I understand."
Retinalpaw padded over to Foxpaw. -
As soon she was out of earshot, Wolverinepaw looked at the grave of Blizzardkit. "Remember when we would talk about being warriors, and pretend we were the leaders?" A tear dripped onto his brother's grave. There was a a tiny sprout in between the graves. The silver bengal looked at the plant.
-
Foxpaw nodded. "Yeah. My mother was born sick and weak. She recieved special attention all her life. When she became pregnant, my father was nervous cause he knew that birthing would be too much for her. Well, he was right, She died a moon after our birth. Then my father was killed by a monster. My sisters, Flowerpaw and Rosepaw were killed by patrols from enemy clans on their first day of apprenticeship and my brother, Muddypaw, died from greencough. Their graves are over there." She pointed to another corner.
-
Retinalpaw nodded sympathetically.
"Oh." -
Foxpaw looked over at Wolverinepaw. "So you like him?"
-
Retinalpaw turned red.
"As a friend..." she lied. -
Woilverinepaw looked as his father's grave.
-
Foxpaw's face turned to a smirk. "I know when cats are lying. C'mon, admit it! I won't tell."
