Honeypaw awoke from her nap. Nasty dreams had been severing her sleep, dreams of her mother.. Her mother was dead! She would not think about that anymore. At least it's a nice day.. she thought to herself. "Hunting would be fun!" she meowed suddenly, her mood sky-rocketing up at the idea. She saw a few cats staring at her, talking to herself. Honeypaw licked her paw, and ran it over her head, embarrassed. "Anyone up for a hunt?" she finally meowed.

Kusangi stretched, her dark tortoiseshell fur rippling softly. Out of the corners of her blue-grey eyes she noticed a young cat muttering to herself. Swiveling her ear towards her, she caught the word 'hunt' slip from the she-cat's jaws. Kusangi suddenly felt herself aching to plunge her claws into some proper prey. She sauntered over, feeling the apprentice's eagerness. Flicking her thick dark brush of a tail she grinned at Honeypaw and meowed, "I'm up for it. The question is, are you?"
-
"Of course I'm up for it!" she meowed eagerly, her tail twisting back in forth of impatience. Today she was unusually hyper, and wanted to get hunting right away. "Catch me if you can!" she called behind her shoulder to Kusangi, before she bounded off into the forest. Her golden paws tapped the forest floor as she bounded across it, as graceful and elegant as could be.
-
Kusangi watched, a glimmer of amusement in her cloud grey eyes. Tearing up the forest leaves, she plunged after Honeypaw, her shadowy fur like soft grass flowing in the breeze. She bounded over Honeypaw, and landed gracefully in front of her, whipping her tail behind her. Kusangi felt particularly energetic today, and nothing was going to stop her from having a good time. And if they did...
OOC- Kusangi also lost her mother, a while ago. But she doesn’t know whether she’s dead or not. I’m trying to create a mini plot for it...
-
OOC: I see.. maybe we could create a mini plot together? Honeypaw could help Kusangi find her mother or something :P
Honeypaw smiled at Kusangi, and opened her mouth wide for prey. A scent of mouse found its way to her nose, tickling her nose and taste buds. She melted into the hunter's crouch, her ears alert for a scent. She edged towards it, placing each paw in front of her carefully. She measured the distance between her and the mouse. Two tail lengths. She finally lept, and felt the satisfaction of the mouse's tiny body under her weight. A purr erupted from deep inside her chest, and she waved her tail in satisfaction.

OOC- That would be cool
"Nice catch" Kusangi meowed. "Let's see if I can do better." She twitched her ears, then suddenly swiveled them straight in front of her. Dropping into the hunters crouch, she became a shadow, fswift and light. There was a large oak nearby, with a thick trunk and strong limbs. Digging her ebony talons in, she bounded up the tree. She signalled Honeypaw to be absoulutely still. She fastened her silvery eyes upon a plump rabbit, grazing in a small clearing ahead. Stealthily, she crept along a bough towards it. She was right beneath the rabbit. Without a sound, she sprung down, directly upon the rabbit, and bit it in the neck with gleaming fangs. She twitched her whiskers at Honeypaw, and grinned ever so slightly.
-
Honeypaw smiled, watching Kusangi sneak up onto the rabbit. She prayed silently to StarClan, and sure enough, Kusangi had caught it! "Good catch!" she mewed happily, and sprawled out onto the forest floor. The sun was beautiful, and shining brightly, warming her dappled pelt. A slight breeze ruffled her fur, though that just cooled her off a bit. She sat up elegantly, and threw her head back against the wind, relishing the moment.
-
"Remember if you're downwind of the rabbit, it's best to go high. Like how I climbed up that oak. They never expect it!"
She flung herself down next to Honeypaw, scattering leaves, withered and worn upon the forest floor. She sighed contentedly, revelling in the dappled sunlight glowing through the vibrant foilage above. "I've only been here about a moon," she confessed, her pale eyes still gazing at the brilliant sky. "I'm still not totally used to the whole feeling about it. I used to roam, for many moons, just searching. It's so peaceful and safe here, I feel almost as if something is about to happen. Something bad." She bit down into the rabbit, and curled her tail in sheer delight. Nudging it over to Honeypaw, she meowed, "Have a bite" -
"Thanks," Honeypaw mewed, taking a small bite. "I do know how you feel, and well.. I just don't know, but sometimes I get bad feelings too. I feel like it's something to do with my family, though I have none.." she trailed off, though her eyes remained calm. She passed the rabbit over to Kusangi, and waited for her to take her share.
-
Kusangi tore off a haunch and winced as she cracked the bone with her fangs. Swiping her tongue around her whiskers, she stretched out in the warm sunlight, flicking her tail in contentment.
"I used to have a family. Well, a mother really." she meowed softly. "She left me, or I left her, I don't know. I've been searching for her ever since it happened..." She trailed off. The three long scars on her cheek began to burn, reminding her of that horrifying day. -
The wind blew through Honeypaw's fur as she listened to Kusangi. She took another bite of their prey, crunching the bones under her powerful jaws. "What happened then?" she asked softly, her eyes never leaving the she-cat. Sorrow, no.. horror filled Kusangi's eyes, and then she noticed the scars on her cheek. "Did your mother do that to you?" her voice was no more than a whisper, sympathy flowing freely for the she-cat.
Honeypaw had grown up without her mother; she didn't know her well enough, nor her father. All she remembered was a sweet, faint scent that clung to her memory. The rabbit tempted her again, and she took another small bite. With a full belly, she pushed the rest of the rabbit over to Kusangi. Her tail instinctively curled neatly around her paws as she waited for her friend to tell the rest of the story.
-
Kusangi swallowed the last of the rabbit, and turned her eyes to the sky, as if searching for memories. "It happened a while ago. I was still with my mother, a young cat nearly ready for apprenticeship. A bit younger than you. We were living in the Twoleg slums, a horrible place filled with nestless Twolegs and their raging moodswings. It was dangerous there, as we had to compete with the Twolegs for food, anything we could get our hands on. And if they caught us..." She shuddered, recalling a violent memory of seeing a fellow cat being beaten to death.
"My mother and I survived there, scr.aping out a living as best we could. Until the Toms came"
A hardened glint came into her clear grey eyes. "A roving band of Toms, despicable and worthless. They came upon us without warning, and attacked us. Until-" Her voice broke, and she gazed at her paws. "They knocked me aside, and pounded towards my mother, giving me these scars." Wincing, she touched them with her bushy grey tail. " The three scars of shame.
I could've gone after them, helped my mother." she whispered. "But instead I ran. I ran, and I ran, until I collapsed into darkness." She turned her gaze to Honeypaw. Her eyes were glistening with ashamed tears. "I came to and my mother was nowhere to be seen. Nor the Toms or any of them. I was inside a Twoleg nest!" she spat. "They took me away from my mother, and trapped me inside their horrible stinking den. I didn't eat, I didn't sleep. I just waited for my mother to find me. Eventually they let me go, and so I travelled the lands for many moons in search of her. Until my roaming led here, to Sunclan." She sighed, and idly played with one of the remaining morses of rabbit. "And that is my story." -
Honeypaw listening to Kusangi, her eyes flooding with sympathy and disbelief. When the she-cat fell silent, Honeypaw sat up. "It's not your fault entirely," she mewed truthfully, "what could you do against a mini clan of toms? If you were younger than me, or even a bit older, you wouldn't have stood a chance?" she paused, and gave Kusangi a friendly lick on the shoulder before continuing. "Sure, you could have fought, but you would have probably died, and that wouldn't be good for anyone."
Honeypaw smiled encouragingly, and ran a paw over her head, thinking of possible ideas. "Would you like to go search for your mother? I could come with you, if that's what you would like.." she trailed off, and then continued heavily, "unless you're positive she's dead." She then lay back down, and cast a hopeful glance at Kusangi. Maybe we could go on a search for my father, too.. she thought to herself excitedly. Then the truth hit her; her father hadn't wanted her, he left her, just like her mother had left the world. Now it was Honeypaw's turn to be sad. A single tear slid down her cheek, burning hot over her fur. "Sorry.." she muttered, than mewed, "I didn't want to have you see me so weak."
