Scientists are saying this bull crap, and the only way Mayans could have possibly known the world would end today would have to be magic. Scientists know magic doesn't exist (though sometimes I hope it does) and shouldn't be spewing this crap about apocalypes.

Another point is that the Mayans didn't last until 2012. They probably didn't think that their civilitzation would last this long either, which it didn't. They probably figured that if their civilization lasted this long, they could make more calenders. They also probably didn't think that their calender would be used around the world.

My last point is that Mayan calenders didn't have leap years. So in all honesty, if the world was going to end, it would have ended years ago.
Seriously people we're talking about the Mayans here. These people used cocoa beans as money, and ate gold.
