"I know I can't take one more step towards you
Cause all that's waiting is regret
And don't you know I'm not your ghost anymore?
You lost the love I loved the most,"

Her hear thudded against her chest, as kids moved around her. The sad district was filled with screams and tears. Her sharp grey eyes carried the sadness, any kid did here now. Her mess of blonde hair fell down just past her shoulders think a waterfall. It was odd for a child to have blonde hair here, but the grey eyes were just a give away. District 12. Her head hung low as she stuck out her finger to the rude man, pricking it she glared at him as a crimson liquid flowed out of her long graceful finger. Jerking it back, she clasped her hand around it to stop the blood flow. Moving so she was standing in the seventeen years old girl section, she stood a small 5'5. Well most girls in her district bearly reached the height of 5'3, so her blonde hair stuck out like a sore thumb.

    "I learned to live, half-alive
And now you want me one more time,"

Looking over her grey eyes caught a pair of blue ones, of a young boy around the age of five years old. She nodded slowly to him, as she watched small sparkling tears flow from his eyes. Her own grey eyes burned with tears to see him cry, but she bit her bottom lip and gave a weak smile. He returned the smile but still had tears flowing down his pale skin. Sucking in a shaky breath she looked towards the stage as a older lady fumbled out. Her large pink hair, made some snicker. But Skylark knew this was no time for laughing, someone was going to be sent to there death bed. You see district 12 never had victors, only the careers from 1, 2, and 4 usually won. Hanging her head as that horrid video mumbled on. It showed why they were here, why the games had started, but it seemed to say it was reasonable. But Skylark knew different. She knew this was just for a amusement, pain, and the fun for the evil. This was not for keeping the districts in line. No it was much more than that.

"Who do you think you are?
    Runnin' 'round leaving scars
    Collecting your jar of hearts
    And tearing love apart,"

As the video rattled to an ending, the lady tapped the microphone and the sound echoed of the cold pavement. Smiling she clapped as everyone else stayed silent with faces as cold and dark as coal, thay hated her. Sky's eyes stayed as cold and dark as coal, as she noticed all they other members of her district has the same look plaster across their faces. Rage. Dragging her eyes from the stage she looked to that little boy again, who whimpered slightly. That feeling came back, her eyes burned with a fire of rage and tears. Clenching her fist she looked back to the stage in a swift motion of her slate colored eyes. They lady smiled, "Welcome, Welcome, District twelve, now it is time for the reapings to began for the Hunger Games," she announced in an accent only known to the capitol. Tapping her fingers on her leg, she squeezed her eyes closed quickly.

    "Dear, it took so long
    Just to feel alright
    Remember how to put back
    The light in my eyes,"

She could hear the click of the womans heels on the makeshift stage in front of city hall, you could say. As the heels screeched to a stop, her grey eyes sprung open as she heard the annoying rustle of paper as she dug her hand around the bowl. All the girl's eyes widened as she pulled the paper from the bowl and unfolded it. An evil smile danced across the woman's purple lips as she spoke in the microphone, "Skylark Grace," she cheered. All eyes directed to her as they stepped aside making a way for her to walk through. Hearing the sobs of the boy, Sky tilted her chin up and walked through the middle as peacekeeper's began to follow her to the stage. Turning her combat boots clomped up the stage as she held a black expression on her pale face. Her grey eyes darted to the little boy running away sobbing, her heart dropped and she squeezed her eyes shut. Opening them the woman asked, "Now you are Skylark Grace right," she asked. The blonde nodded, "Yes," she said her voice weak but like a melody.

    "I wish I had missed
The first time that we kissed
'Cause you broke all your promises
And now you're back you don't get to get me back,"

She looked up as they lady smiled that crooked messed up smile and clopped across the stage to the boy's bowl. Watching as she pulled a piece of paper, Sky's mind wandered leaving her to not hear the name being called up. Looking over a tall dark haired boy with the same grey eyes glared down at her and stuck out his hand. Gently she stuck out her small graceful hand shook the boy's, which was ruff and used. But so was her's. Looking away she dropped her hand and let it fall limply to her side still watching him. Turning as the lady grabbed the shoulders and scurried they through the large doors squeaking out orders. Which she ignored and she could also tell the boy was ignoring her to the end also. Being shoved into a room with looked like a library, she moved to sit on a large cushioned chair. Leaning back she knew no one would come in visit so she tilted her head back and waited for the lady to return.

    "You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
    Don't come back for me
    Don't come back at all,"

At the squeak of the large wood doors the lady stood with an outstretched arm, like she was grabbing thin air she squeezed her hand open and close. Getting to her feet she walked over and the lady clamped her hand around her fore-arm. Noticing she had the boy in her other grasp she dragged them down a hallway lined with peacekeepers. Looking over her grey eyes caught one guys and he seemed to mouth 'I'm sorry,' but Sky didn't understand so a confused expression drug across her face. As she looked back ahead a train car was before her, and they were head for the door. Bumping into the boy as they stumbled up the steps her mouth dropped open as they entered. Closing it quickly she clenched her jar and shoved past the others. Shrugging Sky fumbled before slamming her butt down into a seat at the back of the train car.

"Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?"

The career stood proudly in line, sidling up to the table with confidence. He offered his hand as if it was something of major importance, which, to him, it was.. He didn't even flinch as his blood was drawn from his index finger. His blood was a simple price to pay. Vick planned on volunteering as the tribute for District 1, and if he didn't get in...

He blinked his cold green eyes, stepping forward into the square. Running a hand through his sandy blond hair, he stood calmly, waiting for the "Reaping" to begin. It wasn't really a Reaping, more of a proud day in the District. Everyone anticipated this day. The day where the two best were chosen to compete in the greatest honor of all. The Hunger Games.

"Ladies first," The overdressed woman announced in her odd Capitol accent. She reached her hand into the bowl and pulled out a slip of paper, which, with a very forced smile, she read out loud. "Attika Remmington." A short, brunette girl with long hair stepped forward eagerly. Her eyes glimmered as she stood up on the stage. No volunteers? She was lucky.

"Now for the boys," She yelled, voice ringing. Reaching her hand into the bowl, a smirk crept onto Vick's face. "Thompson Elliott!" She called, and, before Thompson could step forward, Vick pushed his way through the crowd. "I volunteer!" His deep voice echoed through the square.

Her grey eyes moved towards the window as in one swift movement had her chin resting on the palm of her hand. Looking over she noticed the boy and they announcer lady get into an argument. Mumbling she opened her mouth, "sh*t," Sky whispered to herself. Everything was falling into her brain that she was going into the Hunger Games, and she was going to die in a couple weeks. Well atleast she had some practice swinging a sword, and throwing daggers. Her father taught her before he died. Pressing her forehead against the cold window pane she, moved and stood up. Wandering the hall she found what must be her room because on the bed lay a pair of tight fitted army green cargo pants and a fitted black t-shirt. Slipping in the door she closed it behind her.

Slipping off the dress she kicked off her combat boots and slipped on the pants, then the black t-shirt. Finally she turned and sat on the bed tugging on her black combat boots. Lacing them up she smiled at herself and walked back out, her boots clopping up the hall. Turning she watched the two look over at her before arguing again. Sitting in the same chair she cast her grey gaze towards the window and watched the scenery change, less and less trees were able to be seen. Now just plain fields. Parting her pale lips she let a annoyed sigh roll from between them quickly before clenching her jaw shut again.

Rolling her grey eyes as the boy sat beside her, she looked over crossing her arms across her chest. Sky mumbled before opening her mouth, "This should be fun," she said sarcastically. A hint of a smirk fumbled across her lips before turning up one side of her lips. He let out a low chuckle, "Yeah, like Christmas," he said in a deep voice. A quick look of confusion found it's way across her face as she didn't understand how that made since but nodded slowly, anyway. Looking towards the window she realized how fast the train was traveling, and knew even though the capitol was far away they would be there in no time.

Vick sat quietly ok the train, watching the landscapes rumble by. He looked over at Attika, who was clearly enjoying the food that was laid out for them. He rolled his dark green eyes, turning his attention back to the window.

Getting quite bored with his current occupation, he crossed over to a door that concealed a room in which clothes lay out for him. Pulling the door shut behind him, he quickly undressed and redressed into the tight black shirt and baggy green cargo pants, pulling on the black boots he was given. The shirt stretched over his muscled torso, making him appear quite bulky.

With a half smile, he walked out into the other place, plopping down in a chair. "Hey," He greeted Attika, who barely looked up from her sandwich to wave a hello.

  • :{Skylark Conner Grace}:

A smirk tugged at her lips as she stood up and walked around the train looking at other things randomly hanging on the wall. Getting bored she walked into her room sitting on the bed. Glancing as something moved she realized a camera was in her room. Reaching up she yanked it from the wall then dropped it on the floor. Stomping on it she heard a satifying crack meaning it was broken. Sighing she layed back on her bed wondering about the carrers and their games. Closing her eyes she imagined herself being killed, and knew that would come true.

But something tugged at her gut, she knew she must stay alive as long as she can . For her district, to be proud of her. Then thinking once she dies she would see her family, again. Then a new idea came to mind, suicide. Yes. It was perfect less pain, and the better chance she got of death. A evil smile curled across her lips as she opened her eyes again looking out the window at the scenery again.

He yawned widely, stretching his arms and kicking up his feet boredly. There was absolutely nothing to do on this train. "Hey, save some food for me," He called teasingly towards Attika, who was on her second plate of food. He reached over and grabbed a cheese Danish, famished. He smiled, taking a bite of the succulent dessert.

Attika glared at him with hard brown eyes, sauce smudged across her face. Vick shrugged, popping the rest into his mouth and grinning mischievously at her.

  • :{Skylark Conner Grace}:

Laying back she closed her eyes, and slowly drifted off into sleep. Her dreams were filled with blood, murder, and screaming. Waking up a few hours later her breathing heavily as she blinked her grey orbs a few times. Swinging her legs over the side she walked into the main area of the train, seeing the boy who was passed out on a chair. Then the food layed out, picking up a piece of bread she looked at it awhile. Then finally placing it in her mouth, chewing and swallowing. Then she jumped at the sound of screaming and cheering. Rushing over she shook the boy's shoulder to wake him.

He opened his eyes and mumbled, "what," he glared at her. Sky rolled her eyes, "first what is your name," she asked cocking an eyebrow. He laughed and smiled, "It's Jaymes, ok," he smirked and looked at the window. People were cheering and screaming by the window, Sky rushed over pressing her forehead against the glass. Knowing she didn't have the most bright personality she thought she could get sponsors with her looks. Giving her best smile and waving at them they cheered louder.

  • As the train slowed to a stop, Vick stood up and crossed over to a window. People, lots of people, we're smiling, waving, and cheering. He put on his most dazzling smile and waved. The crowd went wild, pointing and whispering to others about him. A smirk played across his lips as he exited the train onto the station platform.

Instantly the large mob surged forward, microphones and pens and paper in their hands. "The name's Vick," He said smoothly, winking and leaving the station. Luckily, no one followed. Running a hand through his spiky sandy blond hair, he noticed a girl.

  • :{Skylark Conner Grace}:

Leaving the window she went to the door her long thin legs carring her gracefully down the steps. People surround her as she smiled and blew kissing hopefully to get them away from her. She hated tight spaces and this was freaking her out. As someone asked her name she smiled, "Hello, I'm Skylark Grace," she whispered in a songsinging voice and walked on. Whispered began to fill the crowds about her as she caught many looks by a lot of people. Even some by the career trains looked over at her, Sky was kinda taken back by all the attention. But smiling her grey eyes, stopped on a boy, one of the careers by the looks of him.

Shrugging mentally she moved past more people as they talked and whispered some asking her question and she would answer them too. Sponsors, this was going to be so easily. Her mind spun out of control as she swayed her hips a little more appearance hopeful more sponsors more food in the arena. Catching some eyes of a group of capitol boy she smiled and waved. But looking past them that boy caught her eye again.

  • The eyes... She's from District 12. She won't last long, Vick thought, turning his back on the girl and beginning to walk away, a smug look on his face. The Prep Room. He winced at the thought of people he didn't know inspecting his naked body. "Whatever," He mumbled to himself, sitting down in a chair and waiting, a bit impatiently.

    (sorry, low muse D:)

  • :{Skylark Conner Grace}:

Brushing back her blonde mess of hair she smiled and walked weaving around people towards a door at the end. Called the 'Prep Room' she look up at a bright colored lady opens the wood door. Shooing Sky in she stumble looking around as she points to one of the rooms, Skylark stumbles into it as a lady stood there glaring at her. Backing up a little as the door slammed shut she slid off ehr clothes as she was told. Standing there the lady walked around her and nodded, mumbling "Beautiful and she comes from district twelve, strange," she says as she stops on front of her.

Nodding she gave her paper rob and told her to get on the metal table, that and they began waxing her legs. Wincing each time they yanked, after they were done with her legs they started her eyebrows and her hair. Cutting it so her bangs covered her forehead completely in a swooping motion the layered it gently. Actually liking the haircut she smiled as they brished her teeth and went about doing other things.

  • (I'm not sure what they do to the guys, so I'm just gonna skip this part :])

Vick walked out of the Prep Room, feeling quite fresh. With his trainer, and Attika in the elevator, he was guided up to his room. "Woah." A grin spread across his face as he pushed the door open. "D*mn." He fell onto his bed, which was large and molded itself around his body. He chuckled. I could get used to this, He thought, smirking to himself.

  • :{Skylark Conner Grace}:

Finishing her time with the prep team they showed to the elevator where she met up with Jaymes, and they both stepped into the elevator. Looking over she stood in silence as they elevator rose to their floor. Getting of she walked ahead and moved around to her bed room quickly. Her combat boots hitting the floor with loud noises as she turned into her bed room. Looking at the wall she picked up a remote and observed it quickly. Sighing she hit the button and the screen changed, stepping back she sat on the bed. Clicking the buttons and flipped through the different screens.

  • Vick reached over, grabbing a remote from his nightstand. He pressed a button, and a landscape appeared on the wall. Rolling green hills. Frowning, he pressed another button, and it changed to a rainy forest. He wasn't sure why he liked rain, it just calmed him for some reason. He layed back, the sounds of rain soothing.

  • :{Skylark Conner Grace}:

Sitting back on the bed she flipped through different scenes before stopping on a forest. Like home she smiled slid off the bed sitting on the floor. Pressing her back against the bed she smiled as she stared into the screen like it was really there. Thinking she thought about the boy she saw earlier, why was he looking at her. But then why was she looking at him. Sighing she squeezed her eyes shut and took in a deep breath slowly.

  • Vick yawned again, stretching out on his bed, legs crossed, arms behind his head. As thoughts ran through his mind, a particular one of a particular girl entered his thoughts. She was pretty, very pretty. It was a shame that he'd have to kill her, eventually. He gave an inward shrug, staring out at the rainy scene.

  • :{Skylark Conner Grace}:

A smile slides off her face as she watched the scenery change, not bothering to move and get the remote she watch rolling hills. Sighing she tilted her head back and closed her eyes tightly not worring about anything. Until she thought about dying, she sure didn't want to but knew would happen. So breathing in she slowly thought about dying and what it meant to her.

  • Vick sighed, closing his eyes. Today was quite... Eventful. A grin flickered across his face as he thought if the first day of the Games. It would be too easy, he thought, to win this.

    (horribly low muse)

  • :{Skylark Conner Grace}:

    ooc;;
Sorry I'm overly excited about the games, do you want to skip to them!

  • Ooc;; Sure!

Ic;; The gong sounded. Vick took off of the silver platform, muscled arms pumping as he shot towards the Cornucopia. He grabbed a backpack and took off into the forest, not looking back. This was it. The real deal.
