    Hawkstar padded out back into the open shore of the lake. The wolf tracks pointed to the forest and he sighed inwardly. He felt like he was leading the patrol in circles. Oh well, not like they could reprimand him for that! The tabby trotted back into the forest, following the neat line of paw prints.

    Hawkstar's nose twitched as the scent of fresh wolf grew steadily stronger. It was mixed with the scent of something strange, probably the wolf's prey. He did not want to disturb the wolf in her hunt, yet he still had to formally show his thanks. The great tabby paused for a moment, scanning the surrounding area for the wolf.

    He led the patrol a bit more uphill, finally catching sight of the large wolf. The wolf didn't seem to be actively stalking something so he found it safe to approach her. The tiger-like cat trotted forward fearlessly. "Hello," he meowed. "I, Hawkstar of WolfClan, would like to formally thank you for your help by the lake with the fox."

    Hawkstar dipped his head courteously to the larger animal, slipping back into the shadows, motioning with his tails for his patrol to follow him. He opened his mouth, scenting for prey. "Time for our own hunting expedition." He meowed good-naturedly.
